    So, lag BACK (wow!)... feels amazing. For me (at 62) I need a VERY small pressure shift forward first, to get the rhythm

    Added this after your video showing how fast the clubhead speed was just letting it swing. Lightened the grip on the club and let it go. Added 15-25 yds.

    Great video,im a reasonably good golfer and ive been trying to think how to teach my neighbor who isnt!.I do similar drills,sometimes with a rope, but full swings, im going to try these shorter less aggressive drills as she is a 70yr old 40hcp.Ive banged on about swinging a rope for years but hackers dont get it,now for some reason its the latest fashion!

    I found myself this afternoon going through the exercise and WOW did it feel good with a club in my hands.
    Thanks again for another great tip.

    Gonna have to give it a try

      Hey Jeff, in my experience if a golfer finds a drill easy it usually means they don’t need to do it. Drills should challenge the things you don’t do well, so tough is good 😁

    Dr. Kwon uses a rope that works better than the towel drill. You feel the smoothness you need to make the rope come back and feel the delay in making the sequencing work properly. Great lag drill.

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 года назад

      Yeah definitely better with a rope, just trying to make it as easy as possible for golfers to do this, not often you have a rope in the golf bag 🤣

      @@ChrisRyanGolf I think I spent $15-20 on a 7 foot section of the 3/4 nylon braided rope that Dr. Kwon recommends. Soft, nicely weighted and doesn't hurt when you hit yourself with it. The towel works for those that do not want to buy the rope.

      @@deniseckert213 Ive been swinging a yard of thick rope for years,helped get me down to 4 hcp. Everybody thought i was nuts,now its the latest fashion,now i know why thanks to whoever dr kwon is! Ive modified it with some pipe sponge on the end for newbies,stops no pain no gain!

      @@grahamjones7371 Dr. Kwon has his own channel on RUclips - DrKwonGolf. He is a professor of Biomechanics (primarily golf) at Texas Women's University. Very interesting to watch some of the lessons he gives and the benefits to creating lag and increasing swing speed.

    If you're grip is super light and don't stop your hands moving until the finish of the swing. the clubhead will catch up but the hands will be ahead and the ball gets in the way.

    I’m slightly confused, I thought we wanted to keep our weight more towards the front foot (left for right handers). And does this not encourage unwanted swinging of hips? Thanks for any clarification

    • @ChrisRyanGolf
      @ChrisRyanGolf  2 года назад +1

      Hey Rich, not east to clarify with text, but it depends on whether you are talking weight or pressure. The weight should stay relatively centred with an iron until the follow through, but we always need to move pressure between the feet in order to move the club. These exercises should help work towards that. In my coaching I have spent a lot more time trying to get golfers to keep it more forward as the sway is such a common problem, so that idea may well help lots, but the reality is we need some shift. Hope that helps

      @@ChrisRyanGolf As a former swayer, mainly due to being told to stuff a towel under my arms when i first started!, the key in this video is sequencing and using the chest to start the swing.I like to feel my pecs are turning my shoulders into the ground slightly creating space for my arms/club but this is a micro/millisecond move.
      Connection is just an illusion caused by good sequencing, as this video shows

      Start with a small tee peg and into a net,tho its a massive help if youve been good at other sports and can relate eg cricket,tennis.
      There is 1 guy at my club,The Only one that has dramatically changed his swing! he has come down from 18-12 hcp he now gets onto his lead side/front foot,most bad golfers hit at the ball staying on their back foot, like he did.
