Haha, this is very tame for Bjork. You will find far more “weird” videos and even more weird music from the legend Bjork. One of the all time great musicians (according to me… and virtually every music publications ever written)
She’s an amazing artist. I saw her in 1992 when she sang in a band called the Sugarcubes. They opened for U2 in Sundevil Stadium. She stood out in that band and is a ground breaking solo artist who pushes musical boundaries. Very needed and amazing!
She explained years later that the song was for her brother who was unemployed and stuck in a rut complaining about his inability. This was a song about her not accepting his excuses and through her sheer love and determination she wills him to "wake up" and succeed.
The incident with her attacking the reporter happened right after a stalker tried to kill her with a mail bomb. There’s a famous video the stalker made basically showing him devolving into madness. It concludes with him ending himself with a revolver. So yeah, she was a little freaked out…
Music video by Frenchman Michel Gondry, director of the brilliant "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (2004). No wonder his collaboration with Bjork being so fruitful: Bachelorette, Hyperballad, Human Behaviour, Crystalline, Declare Independence, Joga and Isobel, besides Army of Me. Both artists are highly creative.
Sometimes I think I will have a quick listen to "Joga". Then I think "Hunter" just leads into "Joga" so well. 40 minutes later I am basking in the radiance of "All is Full of Love".
All I got to say is I had this album on full volume in the 90s driving my Honda at max speed... And annoying everyone in my neighborhood. All of her music is amazing, moving, and just makes you groove.
Dudes - you gotta watch Tank Girl. Dystopian commentary on class war through over water, and involving sub-terranian kangaroo-people. It’s amazing. Based on a graphic novel originally, in the 90’s. Cult classic; must see.
One of the best references to Björk in other media I've seen was in the book Once by James Herbert. It's about all kinds of mythical creatures actually being around us everywhere, but keeping hidden to us humans. Some elven and fairy folk even pose as humans and gets away with it, but it says an unnamed famous Icelandic artist is just so obvious it's strange nobody has figured her out. No doubt who he meant. :D
@@glitter_bombed Nice find! I had read a few of his books before and if you haven't, I recommend you to find some more soon. I hardly met any other James Herbert fans, but the first one was who got me into him. She told me how Herbert had started writing because he was disappointed that the type of horror/thriller stories he wanted to read wasn't written yet. Also, as I had moved from Stephen King to Clive Barker, she said Herbert was the next step. In his earlier books you'll recognise Herbert's style of writing is "contaminated" by his earlier work as a tabloid reporter. To be kind you could call it captivating and easy to read, but it wouldn't earn him a Nobel price. Great fun though!
@donkfail1 I actually just picked it up because I thought the cover was cool. Which I know is kind of a dumb way to shop for books, but I try to find things that look interesting visually that I don't know, and then if the blurb on the back looks like a good read, I'll buy it. I've rarely been wrong, and I do the same with used CDs (I hate radio and my car has a CD player lol).
@@glitter_bombed I get you. It was the same for me with Herbert's ghost story The Ghosts of Sleath. The premise was something like "Can a ghost haunt a ghost?" Not really into ghost stories, but that question got me. He has some great ideas for his books.
@@glitter_bombed For me, Tropical Brainstorm by Kirsty McColl is the CD where there's the biggest difference between the brilliant music and the godawful cover.
i would definitely recommend atopos. it’s from her most recent album and is one of her most visually and musically striking pieces of art she’s made. it has a similar vibe to army of me but definitely more “modern”; i think as metal heads y’all would love the beats and aggression on atopos. 🖤🖤ty for y’all’s reaction
I heard that this was inspired by her lazy brother. She wanted him to do more in life, to get a job and also go out to enjoy himself. He was mainly staying at home and resting. He was 'wasting his life' while she was becoming a music star.
i think if you want weird music videos by björk, you should check out human behaviour and bachelorette (both also by michel gondry), or it’s oh so quiet and triumph of a heart (both by spike jonez).
Y'all need to react to "Hyperballad" audio from "Post," the same album "Army of Me" is on. Then react to the music video, the audio for the verses are different than the album version.
hyperballad is prolly one of my favorite songs by hers and I found it from a copy more or less... monochrome from the ghost in the shell stand alone complex by yoko kanno lol.
Bjork had been stalked by an obsessed fan and he actually found out where she lived and sent a home made bomb to her house. So when the reporter approached her, she was on edge and attacked her. The reporter did not press charges because she empathized with what she had been going through.
Actually the reporter had been following her for days. When Björk got to the Bangkok airport she was there along with a large group of reporters and they were all trying to ask her questions. She told them she would set up an interview with them the next day, she didn’t want to at the airport. Then they started asking her son invasive questions and she lost it. If you search RUclips for an interview she did on TFI Friday she explains what happened. It’s actually kind of funny because they show her the video and it was the first time she had seen it. Her reaction is priceless 😂
What's a crazy/weird music video you like?
Bjork- earth intruders
Björk Pagan Poetry, followed by Vitriols He will fight savagely... similar concepts, differently executed.
wiegedood - Fn Scar 16
Black hole sun by Sound Garden is a pretty classic weird video. Wynona's big brown beaver by Primus is another good one.
Let Forever Be (Chemical Brothers)

Crystalline has a video?
@@Jacob_flaco08 Yep, an official one released in 2012.
I don’t know if anyone’s mentioned this but she wrote this song because of her deadbeat brother 💀 the lyrics make more sense
Thank you!!!!!
Homogenic is an awesome album
Sure is. Its my personal favorite of hers.
Yes, she’s from Iceland.

Aww. I love bjork!

Clearly you need to watch Tank Girl 🤣 After that this song just gets that much better!
Hyperballad is my fave by Bjork, though!

Yep, off her second solo album called "Post" from 1995.
This song was in the movie “Tank Girl” based on a graphic novel. This video is a fever dream!

Beat sampled from "When the Levee Breaks", Led Zeppelin IV (1971).
Pronounced B'Yerk...a rare unique and creative artist. Whack tunes like this up loud and chill til you're in the sunken place 👍😁

nice, thank you for the suggestion!

I love this song and video. What a great truck.
pagan poetry by björk or bachelorette ❤
The truck is a Scania 12 million.
Lots of dials and lights.
Bjork's first four albums were solid
Bachelorette.
Mutual Core will blow your minds. I think Helmer did a cover of this tune.
Love the red velvet shirt

Amazing song, weird video that I think detracts from appreciating the message. Love, love, love Bjork though...
The song sound kind of cool though
No.

The Bangkok incident happened in February 21st, 96. The bomb attack happened in September 12th, 96.
