I don't understand why they don't just make a standalone Chao garden game available on PSN, Xbox Live, and Nintendo eShop. It wouldn't take long to make I'd imagine and with it being standalone they could add more mini games, gardens, more stuff like accessories, etc. Then it could be like a extra $25 they could make along a standalone Sonic game. They could update it as time goes on adding content and there could also be a online trading and competing system similar to Pokemon.
@@BLOODY__FATALITY a stand alone game and add content to it with every Sonic release and some sort of mobile variant for your phone that you could raise chao or do something on the go, it feels right!!
You forgot the most important thing about Chao Evolutions. The Chaos Chao, getting these immortal beasts is not an easy task since it takes a long time to get one, first you need to give your Chao one of every animal in the game you're raising it in, then you have to let it reincarnate at least twice. The Chao must be a Normal Chao, not Running, not Flying, not Swimming, and definitely not Power. A Normal Chao, it's the alignment that determines what kind of Chaos Chao you get. Light = Neutral Angel = Hero Devil = Dark
Frontiers does tell us what the Chao are pretty explicitly; after the Ancients sealed the End within Cyberspace, the survivors made their new home on Angel Island, where they gradually were mutated by the Master Emerald's radiation to become the Chao. Chao are the modern living Ancients, and Chaos was a Chao that mutated into that of the form of the Ancients. What I love about this revelation is that it makes us see Chaos in new way, that he's in the form his ancestors once took.
IT'S NOT JUST A MINIGAME! IT'S ABOUT RAISING THE LIFE!!!!!! Jokes aside, this sub-game is the life to me. Ofc I've played other slow-life game like Animal Crossing, but Chao Garden. It's the only game I occasionally come back, and not get tired by every time I visit, so put so many hours and days into it. Therefore I'm glad the game has huge community, to spice-up the game by the mods that made for pc port of sa2b. Cheers, Chao community!
My only complaint about the Chao Garden is that there wasn't enough Chao Garden - it was a fun diversion, but it always felt like there ought to be way more meat to it. Honestly, considering how much Sonic Team struggles to pad out their games and give them more replay value, it's a real surprise that it still hasn't made a reappearance. My pitch: An open-world game like Frontiers where there are designated places within the world that can be populated by Chao, and part of your mission would be to help populate those areas. You could also carry them between gardens. When there were enough of them living in one place, their combined power would trigger map events and could unlock secret areas. Also, you would be able to play as them to explore Chao-specific dungeons. None of this would be required for the main story, it would be an entirely separate game taking place alongside Sonic's main adventure, but would reveal heavy amounts of lore.
Just hearing the chao garden music brings me back. Oh and I used to use the Gameboy advance to transfer Chao over. It was basically a rad tamagotchi! So fun.
I put many, way too many hours into these Chao Gardens in Sonic Adventure 2! As I got older and played more games, I still liked coming back to the gardens time to time, but I wasn't quite feeling it anymore. Then a year or two ago, I suddenly got addicted to it again. It got to a point where I had to stop myself and just didn't play the game for a while because I was so invested lol so as you can tell, I might enjoy the Chao Gardens lol
@@saynotop2w yes it really could have been! It seems like since the 32x Sega got weird with their choices. What works they don’t repeat and always try something new lol
Great video, Jiggy! Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was actually the first GameCube game I ever owned as a teen and I spent a lot of time in the Chao Garden. It was such a unique side feature in a 3D platformer! Raising a Chao was a lot of fun! I eventually got Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Advance which compounded my enjoyment of the Chao Garden! I was actually disappointed when Sonic Team dropped the Chao Garden idea from future Sonic games. The Chao Garden added a lot replay value to the Adventure games! I always thought Sonic Heroes was essentially "Sonic Adventure 3"? Anyways, I hope they do bring back raising Chao is some capacity in a future Sonic title, but I know that is probably a long shot.
Thanks for watching!! And yeah I guess Heroes is technically SA3 with the storyline and shadow even further than that. But a proper Adventure 3…I’m still waiting for.
@@jiggylookback No problem! I always enjoy your videos! I agree. I definitely would love to see an official Sonic Adventure 3 as well. Adventure 1 and 2 actually did a good job bringing Sonic to 3D. I would love to see the same gameplay variety that Adventure 1 and 2 had...well, maybe not so much fishing. 😅
I didn't even know that there even was glitches in Sonic adventures so I don't have any favorite glitches this is my first time finding that out from this video
When playing Adventure 2, I never visited Chao Garden often. I just wanted to play the main game. And with Adventure DX, I knew that it was just a worse version of Adventure 2’s. But after watching this, dang I gotta visit Chao Garden every day now.
even more than Tamagotchi or Pokémon, Chao remind me of the late-90s PC game series Creatures - which was built around raising cute little aliens who supposedly could learn and had AI! Chao are simpler, but there’s still an ecosystem in how you raise them, and the behaviours they show independently and with other Chao. blew my mind the first time i saw them playing as a band!
@@jiggylookback it’s super fascinating! product of a time when the PC game market could be pretty intellectual and made for adults, but kids could stumble across them
me favorite glitch is ring glitch where you sell a hat then hit reset. rings save, but not item being sold. prolly cuz sa2b game file is separate from chao save file. i liked it cuz more money = more chao n hats to feed my obsession for chao customization n fun.
@@jiggylookbackit really is. i can’t imagine how much longer it would’ve taken to get n play with all the chao n hats i wanted if it wasn’t for that and animal glitch. part of me wonders if some dev put them there on purpose, cuz those are 2 very convenient glitches. anyways, here’s hoping they make a return. i’m feeling hopeful since there’s that one render that featured other chao that wasn’t just the usual neutral hero dark trio, and just general attention they’re getting like sonic x shadow generations and lately from sonic twitter and the car cut off meme pic.
There is so much content in the Chao Garden in SA2, I don't think it can be matched or topped in the modern gaming landscape. If it were to return in any Sonic game, it would be a either grossly unfinished at launch or heavily monetized to the point where it would lose its charm. Hot Take, but I think the Chao Garden should stay a relic of past Sonic games. I don't want it to be ruined by modern game design.
I mean that’s very hypothetical. Perhaps it would, but not even trying means nothing to me. They can do it. Sega is getting better and better about listening to fans.
I love how on your level select you used the game shark to get all a ranks but the code that gameshark ran off the default sa2b cheats wasnt perfect so your racing level with rogue hasnt even finished all the challenges or have good ranks while everything else does 😂 only the real ones will know why
@@mymanmiles393 nope that’s not the case. I worked for all of those A ranks back in the day. This is my save from a teenager.
