    So these support brackets really are not optional nowadays. I feel that the current PCIe form factor for GPUs has come to an end. We need to be able to vertically mount our GPUs without blocking access to the other slots on the board.

    • @ikjadoon
      @ikjadoon 11 месяцев назад +1

      One roadblock is that it sag only affects heavy GPUs and horizontal GPUs, which are both only present in consumer GPUs. Intel's ATX & PCI-SIG don't bother to change, as in the enterprise / datacenter, all GPUs used vertically and that's where all the money is these days. :(
      I think the "cheap" solution is adding GPU support brackets directly to cases (and not bothering with the PCIe slots at all). Lian-Li's GB001/GB002 are a good step forward, as these support brackets directly attach to motherboard standoffs.

    My 6950XT was hanging on the slot because I can't fit the support bracket due to the 3 power connectors and the massive CPU air cooler I have so I glued a plastic cube to the drive bay of my box and it does the job. Definitely important on these massive cards and I hope a few weeks without support didn't start to damage mine.

      @Dandan-tg6tj Год назад +1

      @@nasko235679 No amount of glue will ever help with GPU sag. I've seen people who built their PC themselves to save a few euros but didn't think that the support bracket was there for a good reason so they lost an expensive GPU.

    I am baffled.
    It says difficulty 3/10. I have a repair shop in germany so i was expecting that i could have done this, because i probably rank among the top repair shops soldering wise in my city. I neither have the memory test nor have i found anything online, I personally dont think desoldering, reballing (in this case replacing one) and soldering 4 memory chips on the same gpu should be a 3/10.
    I know i still have a lot to learn and I hope can get better from watching your videos, but neither I nor any repair shop in my city has a memory rework station so this repair would have been complicated or even impossible for me or any other shop in my city to do.
    And then its a 3/10 according to you xD
    Keep up the good work, i hope i'll become better and maybe then I can apply for a job at Krisfix.

    • @KrisFixGermany
      @KrisFixGermany  2 года назад +15

      Thank you
      The difficulty rating is a very relative value dependent entirely on your view of the problem. We have done this exact repair on this model over 900 times. Maybe on the first repairs it was a 10/10, but with time and experience things look easy

      What a great and hones review!
      And what an absurd number of repairs of just this card! Absolutely insane!

  • @georgeindestructible
    @georgeindestructible 2 месяца назад

    This is why it's so important to have your GPU have proper mounting support, i have a Sapphire Nitro Vapor-X 7900XTX and that card is heavy and huge, so i bought adjustable mount holders and placed 8 of them all over the card from the bottom, symmetrically around the card touching the bottom of the case so the card's weight is mostly supported by these and not anything else (of course it's screwed with all 3 screws already anyway), it's extremely straightly aligned.
    If you pay for GPU these days with these extremely high prices yet you neglect to buy a 1 euro part to keep it safe then you don't really deserve a GPU of such class to begin with in my opinion cause you end up with like this.

    Observing the intricate process of graphics card repair is a fascinating experience. It was previously unknown to me that Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) could be successfully repaired at the component level. This revelation highlights the complexity and potential for maintenance within high-performance computing hardware.

    Isn’t this a faulty design from AMD? Customers can’t be expected to know that the memory chips get damaged, most other GPUs work just fine even when slightly bend. Although I am glad your shop exists, I am wondering how did you get so many RX 6XXX gpus? Shouldn’t they be under warranty? Were most of the cards bought directly from AMD and second hand owners couldn’t claim a warranty repair? So many questions… still thanks for repairing my card. I am contacting AMD directly and see if they will replace it. If not, maybe my university has tools good enough so I can reseat the memory myself. I guess you can’t/won’t tell us where you get the memory test software from?

      If you begin with "perhaps" you should most definitely not do it yourself. You think it's easy and once you've seen it on RUclips you can do it yourself because it seems to be easily done?
      You will lose your card forever.
      Think about this: how easy it looks to ride a bicycle? How easy it actually is before you learn the skill? There's no way you can do it first time, right?
