  • We've got a cold front and some rough weather moving through tonight. Let's get this ladder stand hauled in and set up at that sweet spot a mile deep where Whitetail Avenue, Broadhead Boulevard, and Patched Ball Lane merge.
This video-chapter is dedicated to the fond memory Clifford Morgan Styron.
The inspiration for cobbling together the wheeled travois that I use to haul my stand into the woods and game out of the woods came as a result of a pig hunt on the Upper Delta Management Area with Cliff in 2010.
    Outdoor adventure in Lower Alabama.

I was not prepared for the story this morning. Oh my goodness, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, and what a horrible deal. Prayers for you and his family. It is a wonderful deer drag you have made sir.
    Have a blessed week.
    Dale

Thanks for stopping by Dale. It was a horrible deal that took a chunk out of us. The wheeled travois is a real labor saver. The only thing it needs [after thought] is a skid plate for the axle. Blessing to you and yours as well. David

I don't know how I missed this one my friend. The black powder opened up here this past saturday and goes through the end of the week. I think Pre-Rut is finally starting so I am looking forward to getting out in the woods with my bow. I have work today and will head out tomorrow and plan to be in the woods for about three weeks. Should hit the run in full swing here soon. My favorite time to be out in the woods hunting with a bow. Good times ahead. Don't give up on us while we are gone, I will get caught up on my buddies videos when we get back. I will try to come back once a week to get caught up on laundry etc. Thanks again for sharing and i hope you have a blessed week sir. Good luck the rest fo the season for you as well.
    Dale

I hear ya, Dale. I try to keep up with folks on here but there are stretches of time where it's either sit in front of this laptop watching others do what I love to do OR keep my fanny out there doing it. Looks like I'm going to be weathered in for a couple of days so maybe I can do some catching up. Our pre-rut doesn't happen until late January and is full blown early February. 5 days of Muzzleloader starts Nov. 18th. Then another 5 week of ML in December on the WMA just south of me. I call Alabama a deer hunter's paradise. Combined seasons run from Oct. 15th thru Feb. 10th. ATB. David

Well, I watched the the 1st two chapters, but I was saddened by the ending of the 3rd. That fellow with have a meeting with his maker when his time come. I hope you have a successful hunt. We're starting to get ready in my neck of the woods but season doesn't start till the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I'm kinda excited about it. My brother-in-law and nephew's will be join me for their 1st time deer hunting. My buddy has work hard all year putting in food plot and building some "deer condos" as we like to call them on my grandparent's old 80 acre farm. We have a mess of does running around. I haven't really hunted too hard the last few years as we lost out hunting shack and my knee injury. But I'm hoping to start some new traditions and some wonderful memories and stories for many years to come. Fo my dad and I and the rest of our gang that have passed away, it wasn't about getting a deer. It was the commadery of camp. Lots and lots of good ol' memories.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting, Chris. What happened to Richard and Cliff was a really tough deal. Our regular gun season begins the Saturday before Thanksgiving too. 5 days specifically for muzzlestuffers start November 18th. Deer season wraps up February 10th. That's great about your brother in law and nephews. May the first timers catch the fever. Memories and stories to tell for sure. And a hunk of deer meat for supper is always right on time. All the best to you and yours. David
