Slay the Princess is such a cool game. There’s a big patch in development with more content, but the base game has so much in it already that it doesn’t matter. Hope you guys enjoy it!

I didn’t think there was a wrong way to play this game, but these guys have figured it out somehow.

leave it to pixel partners to get two of the most confusing and weird routes right off the bat XD. they probably wont make sence until they get a lot of the normal ones first.

To be honest, I low-key forgot you haven't played this game yet. But I'm very exited to see it.
the narrator is such a perfect role for johnny sims! lol, and the artstyle is beautiful, love this game already
I love all those different voices and the narrator. I agree with Ali, it does remind you of the stanley parabel.
The narrator tries to tell you what to do, he gets disappointed or pissed if you disobey him and he loses his memories after the restart. Only difference is that there are other voices trying to influence us (and kinda bully the narrator).
I could see this game going really meta and breaking the fourth wall beind repair (I never heard of the game before, so I have no idea what to expect)
There are differences though:
In Stanley Parable there are paths where the narrator is actually on your side and even refers to you as a "real person". And he doesn't just lose his memeories, the game resets so all actions are forgetton by both him and the player. There's obviously the path where he doesnt lose his memeory and even breaks the game by refusing to, only for it to hard reset.
On another subject, I wouldn't call the other voices' interactions with the narrator "bullying" and that's a bit strong and diminishes their unique personalities, since their dialogue can range from siding with him to tricking him to even downright threatening him.
Regarding the meta fourth wall breaking, I'd say that's the Stranger route in a nutshell. There are others but I won't go into them for spoilers' sake.
The voice actor of the narrator is the creator of my favorite horror podcast so I clicked on this pretty much immediately lol

55:02 if you were playing with mouse and keyboard, your cursor would change depending on if you took the knife and this choice also changes how the cursor grips the knife.
And if you end up having to use it, the curse has blood on it.
Without spoilers, I wanted to share my favorite route. Don't take knife, help her escape, stab her back, do take knife, give her knife, go first, be nice till the end.
Or: Don't take knife, stab her before helping her; Don't take knife, go back for knife, check her arm.
This was the first time I've seen "I think we're supposed to ignore the game to play it." You got on some of my favorite paths and totally ignored it...despair.

@@ThelordHayden34 I can't say it was intentional. Just a strange conclusion they came to. Idk how. After a game sends me back to chapter one, I would have assumed I need to do something different. Not being mean to their play-style, it's just funny to me that that's their conclusion.
@@ThelordHayden34This is playing the game though sonce it does lead to a conclusion. But it's better to either do with the mentality of annoying the narrator or the princess or wait until you've done other endings first

When u leave after getting into chapter 2 or 3 of any of those runs the game automatically lock u from doing this run again so better be careful or u might lock yourself from different routes and endings but well u can always just play the entire game form the start
exactly, couldn't have worded it better. That's the reason why so many people get the 'oh you're confused' ending

playing this game blind is a completely unique experience that practically no other game has, everytime i thought i knew what was coming, i was very wrong, many cool secrets too, no spoilers but some you might need a guide, also you kind of skipped both the "proper" chapter 2's you got by not going in the cabin lol
I have been enamored with Abby Howard's art ever since discovering my favorite horror webcomic, The Last Halloween! Learning STP came from the twisted brilliance of her and her husband was such a pleasant revelation!
I've avoided watching videos of this game so far, guess I'll give this one a watch!

Honestly never occured to me to recommend it, even though its visual novel-ish I usually separate this from ""proper"" visual novels in my head. But you will most likely like it.
The only game that had the problem of “too many dialogue choices”! It overwhelmed me so much at first but god is it a great game.

38:42 no that hand is the hand I had attacking her the first time around. You just got an ending that you don’t see it in.
40:04 it technically never said you were a human hero.
55:00 when playing with a mouse, your cursor starts as a pointing claw hand, holding the knife makes the blade the pointer, and reversing the grip reverses the cursor.
The protagonist is really cool.

Congrats on starting this beautiful game, this is honestly my favorite game from 2023. The music in this game is AMAZING. Especially if you go back and complete "THE NIGHTMARE" you guys basically just jumped ship as it was starting, so you haven't seen the horrors this game can show. Btw there is a secret if you repeatedly keep jumping ship as you start a chapter 2, but it won't work once you actually meet the princess in chapter 2 at all, so if you wanna do it you gotta start over, but i would only recommend doing that once you actually get an ending.

YAYAY! This is my favorite game of the last little while. (Not counting P3R since it wasn't really NEW New) I still haven't played the most recent update stuff, because I nearly 100%ed the initial release. The voice acting in this game is stellar and the writing is INSANE.

It looks like you're using a controller, which means you miss out on the little custom cursor you get showing the protags hand, and when you hold the knife it changes to have it ^_^

the annoying bit here is theres things that happen in the second chapter in the cabin so purposefully avoiding it means you miss out on patterns and changes that occur. but you can always do it over. the chapter where theres the wall surrounding the cabin and the weird dimensional cabin itself with the description of it being everything is a reference to other paths you can take
Furthermore the song itself for that path (Stranger) is actually a collage of themes from various different routes.
Like you said this game is a lot like Stanley Parable in the writing style and the number of different endings. So, I recommend you to explore the routes you locked yourself out of in this episode in the future😅

Why is there a voice of the hero with us? I get the second voice depends on previous choices, but hero was there from the start.
Yeah… I’m not too familiar with this game, but it seems like the voice of the hero shares the opinion of the player’s current choices, while the next voice sticks with the opinion based on the choices of the previous attempt.
I think mechanically it's to balance out the narrator from the start, so you're not too influenced one way or another hopefully
Yea the hero is basically a voice that follows u in each route just like the narrator it is basically the protagonist within you who finds a way to justify things

As is often the case, commentary is way louder than ingame voices. Commentary should be the same volume or a bit below that of ingame voices, but I dont think I've ever heard a LetsPlayer with commentary that is quieter than ingame voices. It is either the same or louder for some reason, often unpleasantly louder as it is here even after the minimal adjustment.
Nooooo... I hate that turn around option, all it serves is to lock you out of a path.
I hope you guys redo the Paranoid path.
