You didn't break the game, you said you didn't want to play, so it closed the game.
Less you didn't want to play, more you're taking a break. Fun part is her diogue will change based on how long that game is closed.
There’s so many different routes and endings in this game that it’s natural that some viewers will want you to see their favorites. I imagine some people were sad you won’t see The Nightmare and The Adversary since you ended them prematurely and their routes were cut off.
This is your first playthrough, though. This is the journey you are taking, and the endings you get will be influenced by the choices you make. Don’t worry too much about people who’re upset with how you’re playing. Just have fun and do what you wanna; the series will be all the better for it.
I agree, it would have been interesting in its own way had they gotten the Oblivion ending on their first Play through, but you can't really get angry at someone playing a game with so many paths for not picking yours.

There's a beautiful symmetry between the Stranger and the Razor: just one of you getting familiar with every princess and just one, single-minded princess getting familiar with every you. It's so great that you got both experiences
That and (slight spoilers)....
Both don't have a shared chapter 3 like the others, both dont stop at chapter 3 and they're mostly linear.

Both involve either the princess or the player character briefly awakening to their true nature.
So much so that The Stranger pairs them across from eachother in the section where it lists all the routes. (Consumption and betrayal, skepticism and blind devotion, rivalry and submission, terror and longing, *pain and unfamiliarity* .)
@@SugarSpice07 speaking of, the routes are paired in this scene according to which intersecting 3rd chapters they have, and stranger and razor are the only ones that don't: razor is so single-minded it's impossible to deviate from it, and stranger contains so many multitudes it falls apart before that. It just makes them so much more fitting

God the fact they got this as their first vessel, the goddamn entity ONLY has a unique quote for that specific vessel if it's your FIRST VESSEL. It's just her apologizing that she was the first due to how weird it was. No other Vessel you encounter will get you an apology from the her, only the stranger.
Yeah I also got The Stranger first because I also am a Contrarian.

@@leavy Well i apologize, i really thought the game said her name during the first vessel, I really am sorry (quickly went and replayed the first vessel to confirm it myself and it's not said)
Actually they met the base princess twice before going down the Stranger route, so it's likely to be that one instead.
Also thanks to the most recent update the normal princess will apologise for whatever she did to you on your first run.
I do love hearing her opinions on each vessel you bring and what kind of hearts they are xD Sorry that someone is probably gonna be like "aaaa why didn't you ask"
Pixel Partners got to the, lets say extreme ending, in the first Sominum file. It makes sense they would end up at this ending first.
The stranger is the route that changed the most between the demos and the full game. The whole fracturing stuff wasn't there before and the princess looked more melted.
The voice you get in the razor route was also different in the demo. It was changed from the flinching to the cheated.
Plus razor's voice was a lot more threatening as oppsed to a thinly veiled facade.
Okay, after watching through the whole video I have a theory that maybe everyone else has figured out.
The consciousness from the Long Quiet told us the Princess is a creature of perspective, right? And it seems she changes based on what we believe about her. When we believe her to be capable of making us forget, she becomes capable of that. When we believe she has a trick up her sleeve, she gains a knife that the Narrator didn't think existed and is able to kill us as she's dying. That's why the Narrator is so insistent on us not questioning what we're doing or seeing her as a threat. Mayhaps he knows that if we believe her to have power, she gains power. And if he told us that, we'd likely be struck with the terrifying knowledge that she can turn into anything based on what we think she is, and this knowledge could give her greater abilities. Now, we know she COULD turn into a monster, and thus she can turn into a monster at will.
Each new voice in our head is a guide pointing us to how our view of her has changed, preparing us for what awaits and allowing us to connect the dots as to how she's transformed. Maybe that's why she acts commanding and threatening. If she can scare us just a little bit, she can win herself a fighting chance. The new perpectives we give the consciousness aren't just the Princess's perspectives on the world, but the beings she becomes as a result of OUR perspective of HER.
Narrator: What!? No. Ridiculous, what would even make you think that? I promise you she is just a normal princess, whose very existence will bring about the end of the world. So I suggest you get that silly little thought out of your head and continue on with what you were doing.

The voices are you. They aren't "guides" they're archetypes and you get them by being them. Did you talk to the princess and get surprised by her strength yet refuse to back down? You're stubborn. Did you calmly walk in and kill her without a word? You're a cold blooded killer.
@@calvintyler9281 They are both guides (or hindrances) you get after you follow the paths that lead to them appearing and they're aspects of you but not "you" yourself, similar to how the vessels are a part of Shifty but also "not" Shifty herself.
It's also possible they're the parts of Shifty that were also small parts of us, which sort of explains how they appeared, given that they show up after we perceive the princess a certain way then from it. It's a bit convoluted so I won't go further into it but it's a theory.
Also you have to remember this was likely written by someone who had never seen the game before at the time and was just theorising as they go.

Just pick what route you'd like! The game did say there are no wrong choices, no premature endings :)
One thing about skipping the nightmare and the adversary is that I knew that it’d be more likely to see new endings.
And I was immediately proven correct when you got the razor. I’ve never seen that ending and it’s awesome!
The princess is, umm... quite sharp.
I don't get people being upset you guys go the stranger as one of the firsts, if the devs didn't want this to be possible, they could place restrictions on your path. Personally I think this work better as a latter part of the game, the dialogue at 12:28 makes it seem so, after you have more context, but going blind is totally fine! Please enjoy more of this weird cool game
i think people are less upset about the stranger and more upset that they got onto a route and instead of continuing down some path connected to them, locked themselves out of it forever by choosing to leave, not once but twice. they didn't do anything wrong, and they had no idea but it is frustrating and dissapointing, i don't think dictating was at all necesarry though, just say, oh you locked yourself out of a route by trying to leave so please try to avoid it.
Didn't find anyone on the first video complaining tho, not sure where they got that
@@the_fenix_3247 the meanest comment i could find on it was "maximum effort towards avoiding doing anything interesting as long as possible" and i only saw one comment suggest a guide, might have deleted a few comments though.

@@reubensalter8125 Yeah typically people just stop posting the game once they get enough vessels. but they seem to be going back for it which is nice. but at this point nobody really knew that for sure.

I love that they put Ali in the game in the form of the Voice of the Smitten.
As the intro says, there are no wrong choices or premature endings :D I assume people just complaining they won't see their favorites routes on this playthrough or at least they are afraid of that
This game has its funny moments but I don't think anything will top Ali's Koala joke this episode honestly...
I say is still worth it to redo the dialogue at the start of chapter 2 since the different voices have different dialogue and you can get different choices depending on what happened in chapter 1.

So for us and all the other voices it's not the end if we die, we just reset, only the narrator forgets. We only forget when our memory gets purposfully wiped. That means, we are still the same being, doomed to repeat the loop until we succeed.
But why does the narrator forget? Who wipes his memory? Maybe he dies for real. Maybe he dies with his story, with his world. He surprisingly quickly accepts the fact, that we've been there before and he doesn't like that. He reminds us, that our passed mistakes cost multiple worlds to end and we are just: "Nah, it's fine. The only thing that matters is the here and now and if it doesn't work this time, we just try again" It's like in Zero escape where you try to find the history where everything is ok.
But the narrator can't come with us, he can't remember. For him, our death and the end of the world is his death and he isn't ok with the idea of sacrificing so many worlds and himselfes just so we can fuck around and find out.
54:06 Interesting. This makes it seem like the story can't progress if the narrator isn't describing it. But does that mean he controlls it? That doesn't make any sense, that would mean he destroys the world himself. Does he just know what going to happen before we do? But why does he need to describe the situation to us? He says he only states the facts but then there are clear contradictions. He's either lying (for a reason I couldn't come up with) or he says the truth from his point of view and some greater powers are messing with us.
Either way, he knows more than he lets out and that alone is suspicios but I do feel sorry for him sometimes, having to deal with all those voices and the player.
PS: This is all just a theory, I watch this lp completely blind and don't know anything.
Watching playthroughs of games like these, -after- I have come to know the majority of it, is an interesting experience.
I see many of the paths you do not tread. Your personalities differ strongly from the others I have seen. And yet, because of the difference, you have manager to find Something I have Not seen. Something Grand.

AND! This is the SECOND route I've seen that gods past 3 chapters! I should be suprised that there are others, and yet I am! Fascinating!! Many thanks for that aswell.

PS: not-spoiler: The dialouge option "Lets just pretend I'm right and..." at the start of every 'chapter 2' mainly serves the purpose of giving you a feel for the new Voice.
... Though, I suppose that this adventure has diminished that need. The 'Whole gang' was there! :D

As a little fun fact which will probably people will never actually do, based on how long you wait to return she will slightly vary her dialogue when you return up to basically 2 centuries... interesting that it exists but will only be done via time clock changing

I very much hope we get more than one playthrough from you. There are SO MANY options to see. (And different endings to a playthrough.) (And yeah you closed off my fave in the first ep by turning around.) But you are still figuring out how this game works. Honestly I don't think you will know how it works until you've finished a playthrough. Only then can you start making decisions in a somewhat rational way. (It's The Nightmare. I adore her.)

11:30 meeting the hands in a captured princess will now cause the 'run away and world unravels' to stop happening. If you wanted to see that path to conclusions, you need a freeh save and only run away in chapter 2 for five times.

i wonder if someone should have told you, that soon (maybe auum or winter) this game will get an expansion called "Pristine Cut". I think having waited some more months would have been better for you, depending on how much you want to play this game.
I mean, you could come back after the expansion, but i think this will make the other stuff repetitive.

There's so much in the base game they haven't seen yet. Better to explore everything first before it, since it'll mostly be new and expanded stuff.
