Idk if you skipped it or watched it before recording, but FYI there's a scene that plays before the title screen that's meant to be watched before you start the story.
Guys you skipped the opening movie to the story. It isn't like in other games, here it's literally a part of the story. Btw I know you don't like to read but I really recommend reading Memorandum. It has so much information about this world.
As folks pointed out, please watch the intro cutscene that plays before the title screen since it’s sets up the story. Also, most of the voice actors in this game are new, so you barely won’t be able to recognize anyone. The most recognizable might be Strohl, who he also voiced Dion from Final Fantasy 16. Also, check the Memorandum when you can to know more details about the terms, tribes, etc. It will help you with the story along the way.
I heard the MC's voice and immediately figured out that it's Caelus from HSR. I would say he's the most recognizable considering how popular that game is.
The MC is Caleb Yen (male protag of Honkai Star Rail), the narrator is Greg Chun (Adam from Neir:Automata), Gallica is Alejandra Reynoso (been a VA since 2004 as a child). Hulkenberg's VA (Kristin Atherton) is an actress, and I'm pretty sure they narrate audiobooks. Idk if any of the main character VA's so far are new.
Oh god, I've already found the target of my simping. There's nothing I like more than a silver haired cutie with a chip on his shoulder and a noble heart.
49:31 Notice Kilinger here braging about being a war hero who has survived "trenches forged in the blood of my conrades". His entire reputation is built on surviving many battles. Now notice that the moment there was danger he found an excuse to send his men ahead *without thier commander*, keeping himself safe while dooming his men. He then accuses the first person to point out the lack of logic of being a coward to distract from his own cowardice. We can guess how he survived those trenches...
I know it is late but easy difficulty ruins some story bits imo cuz flights are over too fast, it was like that in p3 episode aigis when the boss died before cycling through persona and here too, Galica didn't have a chance to act, pls consider switching to normal cuz im sure there will be other stuff like that
"Because [Mara] is what everyone thinks of." Evan, you're goddamn right. Atlus had a poll to ask which demons that weren't yet Demon Navigators should be added to SMTV Vengeance as new navis, and Mara was in the top 4. He's going to be leading people to loot. I can't wait. 1:03:50 "I'm gonna explore everything." Having already skipped 2 side rooms and a missable item at the top of the stairs. lol never change, Evan
25:06 it's been handled differently in different time periods and places but typically the bishops, advisors, and high-ranking nobles get together and try to find the best successor, usually a close blood relative to the last king or the steward. Stewards are like the king's right-hand man/accountant, they handle the minutia of running the kingdom and keep the kingdom running steady while the king is away.
FYI, if you want to know more about the history of the world, kingdom, races (including the "inferior" races and why they're "inferior"), individual people (such as Gallica, your fairy companion), items (such as igniters or the Royal Scepter), or what certain terms mean, the game has a Memorandum in the pause menu, aka a glossary. Edit: Also, you'll know there's a new Memorandum entry because the game shows a small notice on the left side of the screen above the minimap that says "New Memorandum". It popped up maybe 3-4 times this episode. Edit 2: This game does seem to go by the logic that the MC isn't a complete idiot and more-or-less knows about the world he lives in. He's a victim of prejudice and racism, after all. So the Memorandum will be useful for stuff that you the player don't know about but that the MC does. For example: What's an Igniter? What's the United Kingdom of Euchronia? Who was the king? What is an Elda? Or a Paripus? What's Sanctism?
This game is giving me some xenoblade vibes and its not just the influx of british voice actors which makes me wonder if evan and ali would like xenoblade
This was one hell of a beefy demo. I put about 8 hours into it before I finally reached the end. It definitely got my attention. I'd also definitely recommend checking out the memorandum. It has all the info that you need as you go to understand what's happening and what the people are and all that sort of stuff
This game is the brainchild of the director of Persona 3, 4, and 5, aka Katsura Hashino. After finishing Persona 5, he created his own studio inside Atlus called Studio Zero. (Just to clarify, Persona 5 _Royal_ was directed by someone else, not Hashino, as he'd already started working on what would become Metaphor.) This is the first game that this new studio has created.
By the way, you actually ended up skipping a couple phases of the boss fight since you had it set to Easy. Seems this game doesn't damage-gate like Persona 3 did. You missed a couple cool things, unfortunately, but I won't spoil what. You might see it for yourself in later fights.
3:11 not only is he a scheming man, but he is a scheming man who has the same voice as Date from aitsf. Super trustworthy 😂 Unrelated but my phone tried to autocorrect aitsf to autism so that's fun
I've never heard of this game, but it's Atlus, and that red-headed girl looks like a mix between Chidori, Mitsuru, and an elf, so you've caught my interest!
Exactly, they can probably do 3-4 episodes here, and the game itself comes out in about 10 days, so they can do something short in the meantime while the game finishes percolating.
@@HollowGolem Honestly, they could easily get maybe eight episodes or more. That's about how long it took me. And I've heard of some people taking longer than that.
So, right from the start we get SEES members again 😊 The MC resembles Makoto Yuki, Gallica looks like Yukari, Hulkenberg with that red hair is definitely Mitsuru, and Strohl? Yup. Akihiko my man.
I think it's called the United Kingdom of Euchronia, but honestly I think *insert thing here* is welcome in a fantasy would probably sound better but you do you. Anyway hope that helps
I actually think this game is inspired by persona, especially persona 3 The hair of the MC and the color looks like that with Makoto. His pixie sidekick also has similar looks with yukari. Then there's the red-haired elf that reminds me of Mitsuru. It's hard to not compare the characters here to p3 characters when they have some similarities with them
As many sais already, you actually skipped the opening cutscene, where we see the king's death at the hands of Louis and the higher ups finding the dead king and discussing what's gonna happen now that they don't have the anti war deterrent of the King's magic, plus we alsos learn that the prince also died reccently
The memorandum is a decent glossary we info on the terms of the ingame lore, updated as you go along, as for remembering the different race's you can open the memorandom most of the like checking up what each of the race's are.
If the stat system is anything like SMT (I think it will be, as persona did not have you allocate stats at all), you will want to pump either strength or magic and ignore everything else. Other stats will level up naturally, and you will hit like a truck in your respective damage type(s). Also Endurance does not affect HP, it is damage taken. Not worth investment unless you plan to main a tank archetype.
Alejandra Reynoso. As far as I can tell, most of the cast is either entirely new to this or on the up and coming side. The exception is More, played by Greg Chun. I suspect he's the end boss.
I failed a couple times in the start when she said follow the cliff on the right, that's like one of the worst things to do! There isn't even an opening there. Why Gallica, why?
I know about as much as you guys about this game, but based on other games, I'm guessing this is a future Earth where magic destroyed the world and you'll have to destroy god by the end.
@@omegaxtrigun All that means is it's far enough into the future that our world has been forgotten and humans mutated into the various races. No guarantees I'm right, but it's similar to other SMT plots.
A bad design choice, putting a key intro scene with the logo splash screens that literally every gamer is mashing to skip. Should have put that cutscene after actually starting the game.
I actually attempted to mash, and it wouldn't skip. Not the main two logos, anyway. With the other logos, it still showed the full animations for them, but they faded away more quickly. Same for the warnings, IIRC. Language selection also showed up before the cutscene played. But I will say, since Atlus is well-known for its anime intros, I can see them not expecting people to skip them at least the first time.
@@Gestrid Atlus is well known for cool but skippable music video things. They've never had something actually important before the start screen before.
@@omegaxtrigun See, this is the exact thing people aren't getting. The cutscene comes BEFORE that game starts. Of course people are not mashing to skip during the game. That is the whole point of my criticism. Maybe up that reading comprehension skill bud.

"trenches forged in the blood of my comrades" indeed, he was always as far away from the action so only his comrades let out any blood.
