Just ordered one of these in 10x10, my last tarp tore on my last trip, wanted something that would hold up and this sounds like it can do the job. Not too big not too delicate.
Finally decided to upgrade my tarps. I got the 10x10 Defender, 10 x 7 Guide, 8 lg & 16 sm boa straps last week. Hope it doesn't rain, don't want to get them wet, too nice, ha. Canada.
I've owned this tarp for a few months now..I agree..Its great quality. The tie outs are quite stout. The color is great for the northern woods..The center tie out is helpful. The stuff sack is great also..I added some msr tent stakes, figure 9s,mini bungee cords and some pre cut 550 cord in the stuff sack also..The whole system weighs a little over a pound.a very open ended shelter system..your imaginations the limit.
Awesome gear from Aqua Quest i agree i think there the new leader in the tarp wolrd ,love mine so well made ! those compression straps are the cats meow Ben ! atb john
Thanks for this interesting review. I own the Safari model already and today I've ordered this one too. I'm very satisfied with the Safari tarp, but I want to reduce the weight of my gear.
Would you say this tarp is substantially better than the snugpak all weather shelter? I know they'll probably shine in different applications but if you think it's as durable as the snugpak at half the weight that would be impressive for sure.
What about water resistance? I know it is but I think as a add on to the video it would have been good to put it out under a sprinkler or something to show that.
The Aqua Quest Medium Guide is one of the best tarps I have owned and you can now get it at a great price. Check out the video!
It has that really well built quality look about it. The straps alone are money. I can see why it made the Ben List. Excellent find.
Excellent review! "But honestly, any day out in the woods is a good day to me". Amen to that brother!
+Rangersly true. love my job.

Steve Holt Agreed with everything you said.
Great review Ben, the pricetag is nice too and the tip with the compression straps is great! Cheers, Marc
Scouting Free great combo and SO light.
Nice tips and that tarp looks handy! Been looking for something a little streamlined than the ol' crinkly blue tarp to put over the hammock.
Roades On The Road right, i've reviewed a bunch of them, at all different price points. This one takes the cake.
Awesome tarp! Defiantly one of the best! Really light weight, and compact! And man you can fit it into a Nalgene bottle! That's really compact then!
Jason McDaniel Yeah, a best buy for sure.
Great tarp. I have the King Camo and it's a beast. I need to add this to my setup too.

Any update in the Guide tarp? Thanks.
I would use it as xtra rain protection above my 1person tent or a bivy.
Really does look like great quality.
PREPFORIT great quality and useful for those times when you don't have your bivy or tent.
Sweet tarp. I can see why it made the Ben's Best list.
MI Timberwookie the best of the best ;)
Great work ben! I really like the tarp, but i really dig your " bens best" concept ...thanks!

+Joseph R BOth are great products. I'd say the stitching and craftsmanship is a bit better with the aquaquest.

David Mm It has Hydrostatic Resistance of 20,000 mm. I've tested their other tarps and bivy's under water so I am stand behind it.
