This is one serious pick up truck. I think a set of racing slicks could really make the Colorado a good match for majority of the vehicles on the road in almost any city and/or state.
It’s pretty fast on slicks, yes. High 10s @ 130mph. But being a stick shift it’s not a great drag racer, in fact I sold the M&H slicks since it’s more fun to spin the tires
Absolutely bad ass. What rear end are u running? Is there enough room to get a 4l80 in there to hold the power?
@chrisedwards2624 I was gonna drop an LS3 in mine from a corvette, and was thinking of keeping the stick that came from the vette. I've never driven a stick before and I do wanna try it on the strip, should I go the automatic route for the tranny?
Wow! Another badass video! No useless babble! Love it!
Absolutely fantastic.. nice job
Awesome, nice work!
You are an inspiration, I have a 2006 4door, I want that setup, that's awesome
I just bought a 5 speed Colorado, so i was looking into the LS swap. And as soon as you did the burnout i noticed the Olivas & Telephone intersection lol then the burnout by Palma 😅 glad to see i can run into you here in VTA someday
I noticed that also, im curious if yall are on 355nation? is there a build thread for the swap?
@@mgiuktei I’m just on IG & FB 355nation wbu?
@@jorgeizDShiznit just added the ig and fb. Have you started gathering parts for the swap? What year is your truck?
sweet truck , i got the same truck with 3.5 and a stick.
I've got a 2012 reg cab Colorado I'm itching to get done like this. BTW.. The only thing different is, I have a soft bed cover.
Not gonna lie it's a lot of work and fine tuning
@@chrisedwards2624 I can only imagine
How did you get your a/c, abs and other factory vehicle things to work alongside the supercharger. We’re they as simple as bolting them on the v8 or minor adjustments or completely different parts?
Can you do a build overview? I’m wanting to build an LS Colorado and I could use some knowledge if you have any to spare.
I’ll try and upload something. Thing is a few of the parts on this truck are 1-off custom stuff like the headers which everyone asks about. But if you have specific questions just ask away and I’ll tell you what parts I used.
that thing sounds nasty as hell.
Hey man! Sick truck, I’ve wanted to buy a Colorado and do this swap for a long time now. I want to get a 5 spd. Would you be willing to help steer me in the right direction to do this? What’s the best engine and model year combination, what’s would I need etc..
Well if you want to just get the motor in there and drive it, it’s just like any other LS swap. If you’re want a/c, abs, all gauges to work like I did then it’s a lot more complicated. I suggest doing a search on the 355nation forum, there’s tons of information on there.
@@chrisedwards2624 thanks 👍🏼
OP, can I ask how much you have in the swap and all the upgrades. What a cool ride!
At least $15k in parts. Then all my free labor
@@chrisedwards2624 it's a awesome ride. Looks like a blast to drive.
Such a clean build. What LS motor did you end up putting in there?
It’s an LC9 aluminum 5.3L which is just the flex fuel / DOD version of the L33 and has the 799/243 heads like the L33. I deleted the dod/ afm, milled the heads .030, and installed an LS6 cam. Otherwise the longblock is stock with about 70k miles
@@chrisedwards2624 that’s awesome. Thanks for the specs. Buddy and I are picking up a Colorado tomorrow and we’re thinking of doing an LQ9 build. Still up in the air but we’ll see
Ive got a 5.3 auto trans in a 2012 colorado, if you dont mind me askin what supercharger did you go with?
It’s a TVS2300 kit for a 99-06 Silverado. Only had to make my own inlet tube
I have a Colorado with a built LM7 that I'm going turbo with next. How did you get the factory rear end to hold up? I was thinking about swapping to an 8.8 but this looks like it's holding up fine.
I did an Eaton TruTrac in the stock AAM 8” rear end. Stock axles and gears. It’s been 1.6x 60ft a few times but it’s not a drag racer. Never had a problem in 12yrs.
@@chrisedwards2624 thanks for the info. What wheel and tire did you run for drag radials? It's hard to find wheels that fit the center bore. I got Sierra wheels that I'm getting bored out for my daily set in 18x8.5
@@martinez..carlos I had a spare set of ZQ8 17s widened to 11”. M&H 275/50/17 I believe was the size instagram.com/p/B_x9LknlopU/?igshid=NTdlMDg3MTY=
@@chrisedwards2624 that's awesome. ZQ8 wheels are almost impossible to find at a decent price now. I was looking at those and the OEM 18x8 Colorado wheels but ended up settling. Not paying $1300 for nice ZQ8 wheels or $800 for beat up ones.....
🤝👍
👌🏻🤘🏻
Awesome man! The shifts sound like it has a manual transmission, what's behind the motor?
F-body T56, McLeod RST twin disc, stock Colorado clutch master cylinder. Works very well! I’ve gone high 10s with this setup, but I don’t powershift. Granny shift every gear and hopefully it lives forever
@@chrisedwards2624 where's ur cooling fans located I don't see them or it. Is this legal in California? I just got an 06 5.3 for my Rado ND going to be trying this soon
@@jackdaniels2657 fans are located between the radiator and the motor
@@chrisedwards2624 I can't see it
@@chrisedwards2624 are they electric?
Did you do a burnie in front of the police station? Lmao
Ventura aye
No Jalisco way
Can you install a short through shofter
It has a Hurst shifter but you wouldn’t want a shorter handle otherwise you couldn’t reach it and the console would hit your elbow while shifting
What size tires are you running bro
245/50/17 Sumitumo
Let us know if you can keep it cool through the summer, I want to do the same thing
You runnin an air to water?
It’s been running a few years now. LS’s never have cooling issues unless things are installed improperly. IATs stay low on this. Just the factory Magnuson heat exchanger (yes, air to water), and factory Magnuson reservoir. The blower does have a 3/8” phenolic spacer between the lower tub and upper blower assembly. Overall, TVS2300’s don’t have IAT issues unless you run a microscopic pulley or you’re hot lapping it without mercy. I also run full time E85 which helps.
@@chrisedwards2624 ok, I was talking to a guy the other day that had a factory whipple on a LS2 in his, and said he couldn’t keep it cool, said it would over heat at the drop of a hat.... what radiator are you running? Is your heat exchanger for the air to water in front of the radiator? What about the ac condenser?
Thank you so much for your time and help
@@jimfryar1 I'm running an AC Delco stock replacement radiator for a 2.8L Colorado with 98-02 Camaro LS1 electric fans. The heat exchanger is the standard one that comes with the Magnuson kit. Air to water mounted in front of the a/c condensor. There's a few different possibilities why that guy's IATs (Intake Air Temps) are heating up... the most common is that the heat exchanger coolant pump has stopped working, or there's air in the system. Or, he installed a smaller pulley and beats on the car. Or, he's using the car incorrectly... like road racing it or something. If his LS2 engine coolant is heating up sitting at a stoplight, then that has nothing to do with the supercharger. His electric fans probably aren't turning on or he has air in his cooling system.
@@chrisedwards2624 I’m sorry, I have misrepresented my question.... I have no idea what his iac temps are, I was referring to his engine coolant temps. He said that with the heat exchanger and the ac condenser in from of the radiator, he couldn’t keep his engine cool.
I’m sorry I mislead you with my question. The supercharger part of the equation is due to the heat exchanger being in front of the radiator
@@jimfryar1 His electric cooling fans likely aren't turning on at the right time, or he has some other type of issue. Think about how many factory vehicles have positive displacement type superchargers like Whipple's and Magnuson's. The list is endless, from Jaguars to Camaro's to Z06 Corvette's, to Hellcats, etc etc. None of those vehicles have cooling problems.
What type / brand of supercharger is that?
Magnuson TVS2300 supercharger kit for a 99-06 Silverado
I can't see a fan on that motor. How does he keep it cool at lights?
It runs 96-02 F-Body dual electric fans. Never goes above mid way on stock gauge stays very cool!! 😎
Can you make a video on them fans I put a/c on my truck and I'm getting over 216 at idle with a/c on I have had dual spal fans wasnt working good enough now I have a volvo fan that puts out like 4200cfm and it's not working can u please make a video of ur fan setup please
@@lsx5.3colorado13 send me your email and I’ll look at your tune file
@@chrisedwards2624 my fans run on there own system I have a e67 computer on mine so I have the fan on a relay system running off a ground switch that turns on at 205 and shut off at 190
@@lsx5.3colorado13 What do you mean their own system?? An E67 controls the fans off the temp sensor located on the cylinder head. You need to adjust the fan settings in HP Tuners to turn them on sooner.
What kind of headers your use?
Custom longtube headers check out my Insta @cefbuilds there’s lots of pics there
Damn she’s bad
How low is this truck
Stock height ZQ8
Tire size?

U still can't make that truck even look good. Maybe run good.
Looks are subjective lol. But ya I’d say it runs pretty good 👍🏻
@@chrisedwards2624 u have to admit them are some ugly ass trucks.
@@hotrod76. I disagree man. I bought this thing new and back in 2006 it was a sharp looking truck that got a lot of compliments. People in this hobby like all sorts of different stuff. A guy who likes Porsches would think a 72 Chevy pickup is a pile of old junk and he’d pretty much be right but cars mean different things to different people, some are all about the looks, others all about the performance, some just wanna go off road etc. Personal preference is an awesome thing otherwise we’d all be driving the same car.
I thought they looked cool back them and just as cool now. This thing looks clean af and I love the fact that it been modded to this level but you kept the clean factory look. Cal-tracs and that mint sound is the only hints that this thing likes to party. Well done bro 👌
