hey Mutrix..I believe I speak for everyone when I say this but, thank you. by just watching this you gave me tons of new ideas. really thank you for putting time into showing producers some cool tips and tricks on drums!
Thanks for the detailed tutorials.. Not many successful producers are willing to share their techniques, let alone sit down and explain in full detail.. Much respect bro.
I just want to say thank you, you're extremely talented and instead of keeping all of your talent to yourself you actually teach it to others. It's been a pleasure watching you grow from relatively small into the Bass music giant that you are today, thank you, Mutrix.
Love you Mutrix. Most of the fab artists just don't give a f-k to tutorials but you do and that's making you very, very cool. I seriously appreciate your effort on making this tutorial, and the song Gunz too. Thanks and ignore hater trolls
I genuinely appreciate the tutorials. Been a fan since of yours since you had less than 100 likes on your facebook page. Thank you for all the help and instruction that your videos have provided me with. I've come a long way and your videos are honestly the most helpful ones out there
you are very specific in this video, and put things in to make it fun. 24 dislikes cause people cant do what you do, this video is pretty much impossible to dislike man keep it up
Dude this tutorial is awesome. Thank you. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into connecting with your fan base and helping people learn things! Plus your tracks are just phenomenal and super creative. Idk why people disliked it. They're probably just jealous of your #gunz I can't wait for the mastering tutorial. STOKED
Great job with the tutorial dude. It's a huge confidence builder to know that I'm on the right track with the discoveries I make on my own from trial and error. Also there are many MANY cool aspects you throw in there that give me tons of ideas. Your use of words in layman's terms (or however you spell that shit) is bad ass and adds to the comprehension throughout the video. It's good to not be a pompus ass hole, so good job with that. Makes me appreciate the song more too, Gun'z Drumz are fucking awesome. And now for part 2!
Thank you so much!! Possible to do a vid showing how you do the snare and high hat rolls? With the different rhythms you've added.. triplet feel, etc. Thanks
That Ohmicide joke is so on point haha. Thanks for doing tutorials again man. Good song or not, your technical skills are something we all look up to. Please do more of these!
Hey Man, I loved this track as soon as I heard it. Then I saw you had a tutorial and that made me think --wow, this guy is super cool. I'm impressed you're willing to share your techniques. This part is about the drums but what really got me was how the voice samples were mixed. I got a feeling like there was something Latin sounding in the way it is mixed. That might sound like a strange description but I'm thinking of the analogy of dance. Latin dance has a lot of forward-reverse moves that flow from the historical bongo influence in Latin music and the quick reversals that hand drums allow. So in dance you get moves like the Hustle which is a start and fake out then you go back. Do you see the analogy on how the voice samples were mixed?
MutrixOfficial Hey man, I really appreciate you connecting with your fans and fellow producers by sharing your process and techniques. As an amateur myself, I'd like to ask why do you use the Auto Filter to get rid of the high or low frequencies as opposed to another EQ plugin? I had always assumed you'd want to use the Auto Filter for automation purposes, but it seems like you're using it mainly as a way to cut frequencies. Thanks for any insight and thanks again for your tutorials!
Nice job, I appreciate a truly informative tutorial. Looking forward to the synth and mastering parts. Can you comment on when you use reverb sends vs. reverb inserts? and how many reverb sends you have?
sorry m8. i agree there's not a whole lot of new material in this one, but i promised everyone that if Gunz went #1 i would show how i made every track in the song. i promise you'll learn something in part three about mastering.
Some sweet knowledge in here, i dont use ableton but its not hard to translate what your doing into my software.. i wanna know if your sidechaining the 808 or the kick, or even the snare like usual Dub.. Also i dunno if your gonna cover this in your next Vid but, do you ever in regards to Trap change certain mixing techniques? synth wise?
thanks for the awesome tutorial! I was surprised to see you make one on GUNZ. As soon as I saw it, it automatically rendered all my other tasks for the evening secondary. You should consider doing a tutorial on compression in the future. oh, and also where can I get a copy of ohmnaside? thanks bro. ....pffftpptfftpfffpppttfftttppfttff "I wear a steel cup at all times"
Great tutorial, I have always struggled with making things pop. I notice you use a lot of plugins, but waves is hundreds of dollars. Have any good free VST replacements that can produce a similar effect. Specifically the transient shapers?
Schaack audio transient shaper has a demo version that can easily be used on 1 shots and short loops that can then be bounced out.. It's really good also
But yo man, question... Why don't you use Ableton's stock drum rack? You can save a lot of CPU by using that, instead of laying out all the audio samples.
people ask that a lot. i started making beats on Pro Tools way back in the day. i'm just so used to pulling in samples and placing them to the grid, how i've always done it. CPU isn't really an issue for me as i'm running 16g ram and 64 bit ableton now.
I just bought the brand new Ableton 9 and thought to go all 64 bits via Jbridge. That plug in is hella annoying and it needs to be open to record automation???? How do you deal with that in your creative flow? I'm halfway through setting it up on my new machine. I'm not seriously thinking about scrapping that shit and going back to 32 bits. Your thoughts? (poop on a schtick)
What kind of mac are you using / specs? I'm interested in producing into my mastering chain but Ozone and such is quite intensive on my cpu. I will be upgrading soon to be able to use more plugs, etc
Hehe it looks like some commercial showcase of plugins :-)) ... using different EQs, different compressors/maximizers for each track (almost). "Mutrix Y U No use just 1 good EQ, 1 good compressor/maximizer, 1 ....?" ;-) . But nice tut indeed. Thank you for the effort and I will be looking forward to parts 2 & 3 :-).
dude, if you use the same EQ all the time your stuff will sound bland. you realize EQs that model hardware like the VEQ add texture and warmth and harmonics? Same with compressors like the 1176. Why do you think every high level mixing engineer has hundreds of plug-ins instead of just the default ones? It's not a commercial showcase, it's mixing experience.
Dunno a friggin thing about Trap mate and never heard of you either til High Chai shared the link on FBook but boy, that was a great tut. Well thought out, clear, to the point and relevant. Haters can get to fuck....or do better. Keep up the great work mate.
If you buy Komplete Ultimate it's not that bad. I bought Komplete 6 several years ago on sale for $400 and when I upgraded to Komplete Ultimate 8 it was only like $250
MutrixOfficial But you can see by the gain reduction meter that it isn't doing anything to the signal at all. When you turn it back on it sounds louder and fatter because the gain is turned up on the compressor. Loudness is perceived to be better by our ears and all that stuff! :P Like I said I ain't being all like ''awwww dude what are you doing'' The track sounds awesome!
It doesn't bother me, it just hurts the ratings. all of my tutorials are highly rated so they turn up higher in the search results - thereby helping people find useful information they're looking for. they aren't hurting me they are doing a disservice to others.
I personally don't think you should do tutorials like this man... These are things that producers need to figure out on their own to become better, and when you do these things, you might as well let anyone who has a computer and a mouse become an artist. Dude, they need to learn this from experience, not Mutrix holding their hand
I disagree. There certainly are people who won't progress further than emulating the sounds in a tutorial. There are people who can only do things by rote. However, there are many who will use tutorials like this one as a jumping off point. For example, a lot of techniques, from tutorials such as this one, I've used in the production of sound-beds for (of all things) for hardsell car commercials. I think that's as unrelated as you can get. I have 20 years of experience in audio and I've learned a lot in the last 2 years from RUclips tutorials. The best artists in any field always start of emulating others and then developing their own sound/technique.
Completely disagree with you Ryan. There is nothing wrong with sharing knowledge. The worst thing that can come of it is people start making better music. Watching tutorials is exactly how I learned how to make stuff.

Why the fuck are you so cool? Like every one of your videos have HELLA helped me out. Seriously, THANK you.
Love you Mutrix. Most of the fab artists just don't give a f-k to tutorials but you do and that's making you very, very cool. I seriously appreciate your effort on making this tutorial, and the song Gunz too. Thanks and ignore hater trolls

The haters can such a fart. You're the man for even doing this at all for us! Thanks Mutrix!
you are very specific in this video, and put things in to make it fun. 24 dislikes cause people cant do what you do, this video is pretty much impossible to dislike man keep it up
Hahahahaha I loved the "Ohm" part and how you wanted to make a point how to pronounce it correct. And yeah, the rest of the tutorial was also cool.
Thank God I have google + to tell me when I like a comment... -_-
Anyways, good tutorials Mutrix!
Dude this tutorial is awesome. Thank you. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into connecting with your fan base and helping people learn things! mad props man great video and thanks for taken time out to make the video
Dude thanks so much for making these tutorials! You're awesome I love your music!
Thank you so much!! Possible to do a vid showing how you do the snare and high hat rolls? With the different rhythms you've added.. triplet feel, etc. Thanks
Love the video Mutrix, nice to see what plugins you like and how you use them. Cant wait to see the others
That Ohmicide joke is so on point haha. Thanks for doing tutorials again man. Good song or not, your technical skills are something we all look up to. Please do more of these!
Thank you so much !! Iv been listening to this daily since it was released on beatport ^_^
This guy making 1080p videos 10 years ago. my guy.
One of the most hilarious DAW tutorials I've ever seen. Good tips for a someone like me who's a noob to Ableton and House/Trap/-no type music tho
This "hilarity" is why he not touring :P I wouldn't hate.. even just a little. LOL

at 10:00 when the double jbridge windows pop up, what you said seriously made me laugh out loud. i feel your pain
Respect, man, it's a titanic job! And one of the best trap track what i've heard!
How long did you do this project?
Definitely sticking around for the rest of these. :)
Also, lost it at the "Ohm. Ohm. Ohm." bit.
MutrixOfficial Hey man, I really appreciate you connecting with your fans and fellow producers by sharing your process and techniques. This is awesome mutrix, fuck the haters N keep doing this! Good stuff.
Nice job, I appreciate a truly informative tutorial. Looking forward to the synth and mastering parts. Can you comment on when you use reverb sends vs. reverb inserts? and how many reverb sends you have?
No idea why people are giving you shit for this video. Your sharing some seriously valuable knowledge here.
BEST TUT EVER. Always entertaining as Fuxk! Thanks
Damn, I actually learned nothing from this video. Mutrix your previous videos have taught me well
sorry m8. i agree there's not a whole lot of new material in this one, but i promised everyone that if Gunz went #1 i would show how i made every track in the song. i promise you'll learn something in part three about mastering.
MutrixOfficial Looking forward to your mastering process.
haha no sorrys needed man I feel you, keep working maybe i'll see you in the charts one day

thanks for the awesome tutorial! I was surprised to see you make one on GUNZ.

Great work thanks man. cant wait for the nest parts.
When is part 2 dropping?
loved the video, i learned a lot. when is the second one coming out?
You are legendary. Just know it. Thanks a lot
Anybody know where I can find some more tutorials just like this one? This helped my mixes so freaking much, thanks!
nice tutorial! learned a lot. thanks mutrix

Huge, you're the man.

Oh okay, gotchya. Just wondering! (btw I used that jbridge shit too, suuuuper annoying, but probably worth it for 64bit doe)
MutrixOfficial Same. Glad Im not alone.
MutrixOfficial How long have you been producing?
Thanks for sharing your talent!
MUCH THANKS ,SUCH TUTORIAL ,SO BASED
ah thank you mutrix!!!
How do you get your kitchen to be so spotless? Is there a secret cleaning method you use?
I just bought the brand new Ableton 9 and thought to go all 64 bits via Jbridge. That plug in is hella annoying and it needs to be open to record automation???? Really good vid man Thanks
YO MUTRIX were do you find your sick vocals from dude???
Pleaaaaase make the lead tutorial already!
Great stuff!! Part 2 please!! :)
Question... Are you writing some of the parts to audio to save on processing, so you're not overloading the pc?
23:53 is that the M-Audio BX8 studiomonitor in the mirror? Because i got those! :)
haha yep! i use those and a pair of yamaha hs50's
MutrixOfficial Nice! I really like the BX8 because of the 8" woofer, it's amazing! :)
hey mutrix , how come you're not using the drum rack ?
Breath. We produce because we enjoy it. Not to gain unanimous support.
Hehe it looks like some commercial showcase of plugins :-)) ... using different EQs, different compressors/maximizers for each track (almost). MutrixOfficial do you tune your kick/ snare/ cymbals to the key of the song ?
btw song bought
WHY IS THERE EVEN A DISLIKE OPTION FOR THIS
Can you explain how you use the ott preset in ableton's multiband compressor?
nice tuto, thx man
Dunno a friggin thing about Trap mate and never heard of you either til High Chai shared the link on FBook but boy, that was a great tut. Well thought out, clear, to the point and relevant. Haters can get to fuck....or do better. Keep up the great work mate.

thanks alot man :)
how much money worth of vsts do u have dude damn session strings pro!!
If you buy Komplete Ultimate it's not that bad. I bought Komplete 6 several years ago on sale for $400 and when I upgraded to Komplete Ultimate 8 it was only like $250
part 2!?
MutrixOfficial what program is that?
Thanks!
dope
what program did i use
Hey, do you enable oversampling on your EQ 8?
It's the same as the "high quality" setting on Live 8.
I say Om-icide not Owm-icide, but I'm english so idk but i agree with the whole ohmnicide thing.. it's so annoying to hear that
If you are famous producer then I will be god.
And theeeen
i would have gotten a bad grade in my public speaking class with this presentation haha
"Ohm. Ohm. Ohm.".... hahahhahahahaha. I know exactly what you mean.
Awesome video as well. Thank you for taking the time to do this. Wish more producers would share things like this. :)
Not hating but the compression isn't doing anything to the claps its just turning them up no?
it makes it louder not by putting the volume up but by making the quite parts louder
hi k100 love your music
sounds like it's doing that plus adding some snap to them
Nikita Tarnavski correct sir! it glues them all together too.
MutrixOfficial But you can see by the gain reduction meter that it isn't doing anything to the signal at all.
