- Mark Crossfield and Coach Lockey are testing and reviewing the latest golf irons from Callaway golf. The new Callaway Rogue ST irons range. There are 4 heads in the Rogue ST MAX range including the Callaway Rogue ST MAX, Callaway Rogue ST MAX OS, Callaway Rogue ST MAX OS Lite and the Callaway Rogue ST PRO. In this golf club compare video the guys are testing the three MAX heads and they could be the smartest lofted irons so far of the power bat era. Most of these reviews the RUclipsrs talk about how offset the clubs are, and how "chunky" they are, and how thick the toplines are. However, as you prove in this video, you hit all three of these clubs with amazing accuracy. So who would want (other than a professional or scratch golfer) a bladed club that looks so much "prettier" and to their liking, but one that you couldn't hit as well as these clubs? I just don't get it. I play to a 10 handicap and give me all the help and forgiveness I can get in a golf club!
I agree, I'm a 13 hcp and I want all the help and forgiveness also.

@Chaz Carrington Yep! I'm 63 and love my "chunky" Callaway Rogues. Offset, and a thick top line and all!
I went into see my local pro shop and had a club fit done and ended up buying a custom fit set of these felt so sweet to hit yes the top line was very noticeable but once you start hitting them you forget all about it when you see the gains, great review again chaps
I was testing these out and the 5-iron for me was going 225 I was blown away and they felt so good!
You guys have convinced me to purchase the OS Lite. I'm a high handicapper and I think these will help my game alot. I was originally planning on purchasing the APEX DCB's Good review
I care a lot less about how the clubs "look in the bag or behind the ball." I just want the ones I can hit most consistently. I love how consistent professional golfers hit and how they can pull the differences out of the equipment.
Cobra has been doing that for years with their Fmax Superlite & Airspeed and now Air-X models. The lofts are the exact same in 5, 6, 7 iron but are even more lofted in the 8, 9, PW, and GW compared to the Rogue St Max OS Lite. Swing weight is even lighter as the Rogue ST in graphite is the same as Cobra in steel. The cobra models in graphite are even lighter.

The f max / Air has won the last two mygolfspy most wanted super game improvement iron category. Think there is something to the weaker lofts.

I currently use the Callaway Mavrik irons, so sure I would play this type of game improvement irons. However, I don't think there is really any improvement over the Mavrik, so I'm completely happy to stay with them.
I guess they've finally noticed that people are ordering less clubs because no one can hit a 19-degree 6-iron so they may as well again start producing 6-irons with closer to 30-degrees of loft and sell more clubs.
I think clubs like this will be my key to single figure golf, saving up!
Mark, it would be interesting to add on to this review by testing the same lofted 3 clubs to compare against this test of all 3 being 7 irons.
I only asked another you tuber a few weeks ago that surely it makes sense to add loft to a game improvement iron. Excellent from Callaway
Played Honiton golf club on Friday having travelled down for a wedding. Was hoping to see Mark and Coach Lockey on the course but missed Mark by 5 mins apparently 🙄 tried a chipper and loved it! The way forward 💯
I tried these out as part of my fitting the other day…. Just felt unbalanced, head heavy, like swinging a mallet…. Being a high handicapper, i was pleased with the distances and heights i was getting, but then i tried the St Pro and with the Elevate 95 shaft, i’ve never held a club that felt like an extension of my arm before, and could have swung it for hours, accuracy and distance way beyond these irons. My lone hour with the clubs was backed up with stats and an hours fitting, and i ordered the pro’s…. Great value for money, beautifull range of clubs and as Mark says, a lot of ways to get to the same place.
I currently game the B21 irons, these are similar I take it? Interesting to hear what your thoughts are between the B21 and these. Are the Rogues better. I do tend to struggle a little bit getting my irons up in the air, curious to hear the comparison with these clubs. I totally agree about adding more loft as well. What good is reducing loft if you can't get the ball up in the air?
I play the old callaway Rogue irons. If the new ones are anything like them you are on to a winner.

Mark. Your advice for a senior with a slow swing speed (83 with a driver) and has trouble hitting any iron. This Callaway Rouge lite, or the G.I. model of T.M. Stealth irons ??
I recently watched many of your Turkey vlogs (again) as we were heading out there in March. If you recall on that trip Dan was getting quite regular stick for his strong lofted irons. Coach mentioned in this vlog about being wary of the odd flyer. Interested to know what has changed in your mindset between those turkey vlogs and now? As you also now game stronger lofted, chunkier irons? Cheers.

Can you give any advice on which loft would be close to a Rogue x? I'm, looking to add a 4 iron (left) to my set but can't find a Rogue X.
It would be interesting to see the Rouge OS Lite, up against the Cobra Air Max and Ping G425 with the traditional loft option tested at a slower swing speed say 60 mph with a 7 iron.

I play xrs os. I love them but I don’t like the offset to the left. How does the offset compare with the st max os and the st max? I just ordered at max but I’m scared they won’t hold the green. I’d really appreciate some input. I know i should get fitted but I don’t have a lot of money.
I have over the winter purchased a mint set of Wilson Staff Tour Blades from '77, '78 and just to show you how lofts have changed over the years my 7 iron is 38 degrees of loft. My 4 iron has 26 degrees of lofts. #jussayin' I could never get by looking down at the top line of these irons
Went for a fitting expecting to come out with everything Callaway had to offer and hated all of it!!! I did get some Srixon ZX5 irons which felt lovely

25ish handicap hitting my current set of old ping i3 blade irons. If I were to get something that was a bit more forgiving, what kind of gains do you recon I would see? Play about weekly, cut my hc by 7 ish strokes last year. Anyhow, great content boys, can't wait for q new course vlog.

Anyone know what shaft stiffness they were playing? They both hit a 7 iron a long way but despite that I have have a feeling that it's regular because the Lite only seems to come in regular.
I still play my Ping ISI irons. Very weak lofted irons. I actually like that though. Here’s why…. Somebody with a super strong lofted pitching wedge are having to play “feel” shots anything inside 150. I have an ISI for anything between 65-190 yards, with perfect spacing in between. I shot even par with them Sunday. That’s why I haven’t upgraded irons since ‘97. It doesn’t bother me that my buddies are hitting 2 clubs less, when I’m beating them. Most people’s ego wouldn’t allow them to play these irons, because of the lack of distance. It’s all about SCORE to me.
You've got to admire the marketing. They spend a decade delofting clubs and selling them to us as improving distance, while shoving an extra 2 wedges in the bag to make up the huge disparities at the top. I can see in a few years time they will have relofted everything and started selling us 1 irons again.

Seems like a lot of choices for a game improvement club. They’re all chunky looking , have offsets, and are stronger lofted.
Just looked at the lofts for the lite and it’s still pretty strong…similar to the apex or st pro. i wonder if the lite with a stronger shaft would be good for high to mid handicaps who eventually want to use players clubs.

Maybe I am mistaken, but hasn't Ping been doing this for a while now with being able to order "Retro Lofts" or Power Spec lofts instead of their standard loft offerings? Maybe not in all their iron lines, but I remember in the G lines, they did. Matt Won! Stupid Game!
Not a fan of chunky clubs at address even though I probably, lol definitely, could do with the help but when I've used chunkier clubs in the past I can't get on with them. I use MP54's by the way not super bladed but still nice and sleek

All those are chunky boys... Not of fan of offset clubs looks weird to me at setup lowest offset is 2.4 looks like lowest on mine is 0.02 and ma 0.17 on my new ping 159's. Crazy to go back to something like that lol
Crazy how everyone said the rogue x were ridiculous and 4 years later the ST Max is almost identical and everyone loves them lol.

Why can't Callaway make a better looking game improvement iron with a thinner top line and the offset less offensive? Ping has been able to refine the look of their G irons with each new generation, but when I look at the Rogue ST, it just reminds me of my Big Bertha irons from 25 years ago. Callaway chunk pretty well says it all.
I recently went back to more traditional lofts in my irons, 34 deg 7 iron. Modern lofts are too strong.
I've started to realize this year that I may be too old and need to put these in the bag. Matt Won! Stupid Game!

Yeah, 31.5 degrees for a 7 iron isn't too bad... these days. I mean my 7i is 35° and that's much better for everything, spin, gapping, descent angle... and control of those damn over draws. The only thing is that people want to say "oh, I've hit 7 on this hole, that's one less than you..." or something. Just put colours or the lofts on the sole and that's it... We shouldn't care how far this or that iron number goes, just that when we pick one in particular it goes (most of the time) the distance we think it should go.
These are just another mavrik line which won't stop on the green with less than a 9 iron at least for me.
If Matt had hooked that last one any more on #17 it would have landed in tomorrow🤣

You can't compare irons distance with a 4 degree loft difference. It's a 7 iron vs, a strong 6.
Borrowed a Callaway Rogue STMax Os Lite 7 iron from our pro shop Thursday and got a hole in one. Had to go across a lake and up hill to the flag lying on a Plato.
