DJI Mini 4 Pro - Which Package to Buy?

- DJI Mini 4 Pro buying guide for which kit and accessories you need. Is Fly More kit worth it? Is the DJI RC 2 Smart Controller worth it, and what you can save money on.
Only two things I REALLY insist on are
1. Extra Battery
2. ND Filters (ND 16 being most important)
ND filters you only need if you want to pursue video as a hobby and get quality stuff.
You WANT 1 extra battery (don't need 5, just 1) that way one battery will charge in the car while you are flying with the other.
The DJI RC 2 I have said over and over again... It makes the experience MUCH better when you don't have to deal with a phone/app/calls/phone battery. Just a nice big bright dedicated screen.
Turn on drone, turn on remote, fly away. Makes me rub my nipples with delight.
**If you REALLY are trying to save, just get a used Mini 3 pro. You will give up the nicer camera which is a huge deal to me, but I can understand if you want the mini 3 pro for all the other cool features and don't prioritize the camera quality. I always will though.
PRICE:
$760 Drone + Phone Cradle Remote
$960 Drone + Smart Controller
$1100 Drone + Phone Cradle Remote + Extended 45 minute battery
$1160 Drone + Smart Remote + Batteries + Battery Hub + Props
You have to buy ND filters separate from the store no matter what.

Dude, I love your no BS, call it like it is style.
I just found him and I agree. When I’m ready I’m getting his suggestions of which drone to buy and his course for real 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Your humor never gets old to me - I will re-watch your videos just to have a chuckle. Thanks for producing videos like this.
Love how straight forward the content is while maintaining a lot of information. Subscribed and may purchase a course just because
DUUUDE WHATTTT. These videos are absolutely amazing. You da man
Honestly, best channel to get the breakdown. 💯
Great run down as always!
Let’s go bro thank you so much!
Great information, and thanks for sharing.
All my questions answered, I love you.
THANK you for the 20 sec version. Because you said that i watched the full video.
As someone who's on a tight budget and doesn't really give a shit about being fiddly with the phone, why get the RC? If I had the money it's a no brainer but the regular controller is a solid choice imo because you aren't losing any functionality, you only lose out on convenience.
I agree it’s not a huge disadvantage to have your phone on it but I could see if you get a phone call or something but most of the time I don’t get any calls when I fly my drone
The smart remote does about 400 meters more in distance..
@@ricoshumpert5135true but u are honestly never gonna be flying to the max range anyway when flying normally unless ur purposely trying to do a range test or something. So imo the extra 400m range doesn’t really matter when they both allow many miles of range.
That first line hooked me. It’s just what I needed to hear. It’s expensive. Sales are pretty much nonexistent. Get over it. Done. 😅 Thank you! Great review as well!
I really like this video. Thanks!
I am considering saving the $200 and getting the base controller... .even though I plan to use the drone fairly often. My understanding:
1. For a similar price point for the "package", I could get a Air 3 with the base controller. Better drone, similar price. Not sure I would get the Air 3, but it does make me thing about just how much more the upgraded controller is.
2. The NEW version of the base controller is better than the one in this video (I think). I saw another RUclips video where the presenter was holding the controller by the phone in the controller mount and was shaking it. No movement.
3. My understanding is that the base controller has more/better live stream options... direct to RUclips. Would love to live stream a sporting event for example (beginning of a 5K race, for example).
4. Packing the controller for travel may be easier without worrying about the screen getting scratched. Use cases like riding a bike or hiking or international for example, where the controller will probably be thrown into a backpack. I do think the weight is similar. Would love to get a weight difference if anyone has that.
5. I use "Main Cabin 1" when flying with Delta Airlines. I generally cannot justify the incremental cost of "Business Class". I would rather travel twice in Main Cabin 1 v. travel once with Business Class.
Does anyone reading this have experiences with the base controller?
His style is the best. It resonates with me. No Fluff , No bullshit
If you're getting this drone, use the link in this man's description! Alex thank you for making this buying decision easy and fun.
I remember in 2016 a Mavic pro would have cost me $1300 refurbished and you needed to provide your own smartphone and commit it for your entire flight.
As someone who's been watching and waiting for 8 years, I just ordered my Mini 4 pro and fly more + RC2 was not even a second thought. If anything it was a selling point for me. I CANT WAIT!
Mini 4 arrives tomorrow, I'll take a look at the layout
Great explanations. I do have an important question which I have not seen discussed as what best setting (Brake or By Pass) to use in Obstacle Avoidance Action when you lose connection & the drone is return home automatically . For example, if my RTH height is set to 200ft, then i lose connection behind a 250ft high building, and my setting is Brake in Obstacle Avoidance Action, my assumption is that my drone will just hover at 200ft behind the bldg and the drone will never return back home. If my setting is set to By Pass in Obstacle Avoidance Action instead, will my drone fly around the bldg at 200ft until it sees or makes connection with my RC? Can you please comment on this so I know what setting to use in Obstacle Avoidance Action when I lose connection. Not sure if someone has already tested this but i appreciate your comment on my question. Thanks so much.
I had a mini too and I just ordered the mini 4 pro. It should be here tomorrow and I'm thinking it's going to be a massive upgrade. I went ahead and sprung for the extended batteries and the upgraded remote. Figured if I'm going to make the investment I'm all in.
Do you have a good sunshade recommendation for the controller screen? I have a Mavic Mini 1 w/ my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I'm thinking I'll prob upgrade to the Mini 3 or 4 Pro w/ the smart controller... my biggest hassle with flying has been trying to see the screen on bright, sunny days.
I bought the mini 4 pro and the RC2. Now I have the fly more combo after the fact and honestly, I should have just bought it all together from the beginning.
My only wish is for goggles that are compatible. Will be flying this weekend, finally. No more fpv sim. You are direct. Liked and subbed, just for that
I'm curious if you have any recommendations on ND filters other than the DJI ones? Or should I just get those and call it a day?
Short and sweet! Excellent review. By the way, are there any pros and cons of opting for 45-minute batteries? I'm concerned that with longer battery life, the weight might exceed 249g, necessitating registration with aviation authorities.
Thank you for your video. This blunt video motivated me to get it. The only thing is I want the goggles to drive FPV however, it doesn’t look like they have it which makes me want to get the mini three pro but I’m gonna get the four and just wait until they fix it or make a new headset
Same. I figure they’ll be updating it in the not too distant future and I’ll get the goggles.
I like this video make more😀😃
Is it really as good as the Air 3 ? As far as capturing the exact quality? Or pretty close?
Excellent. Getting ready for this purchase. Will the mini 4 pro have the Waypoints feature (not the hyperlapse version)?
Yes, it does. Which is incredible for a tiny drone.
Just wondering if you have ever bought a refurbished drone on the DJI website or if you think its a safe option
Crazy how far drones have come I mean look at the original mavic and how much that costs and compare it to this drone.
To think I got my 3 a bit ago.... now i'm unsure whether or not to get this - it just feels like an iphone with a few minor upgrades... I will say that the omni stuff can be beneficial for such a small drone.
The extended battery is illegal in the UK so the fly more combo still comes with a standard battery. I went with the 4 Pro with the standard remote to make the most of the 2000 nits screen of my iPhone 15 Pro and the remote keeps the phone charged :) - it's also less to carry on trips abroad. I may invest in an extra battery, but right now, charging for 30 min from a power bank after a 20+ minute flight is acceptable.
Do i get the fly more plus with extended batteries... or standard batteries?
Do the old freewell filters work on this one as well, I wish dji had a program where you can upgrade to a new model, which sucks. Now you have to sell the old one lose money on that.
I didn't upgrade from the Mini 2 to the Mini 3 Pro, but I think the Mini 4 Pro is worth the jump.
Dji care is legit!!! Used it twice already after running into waterfalls! Thank god for insurance!!! Couldn’t agree more with the smart remote comments!! 👍
Flyaway or did you recover yours?
@@Matanumi both I was able to recover….one of them I found it under the waterfall 2 weeks after I crashed it!! 🤷♂️😂
4:24 What filter is on it in this scene? Looks very nice. Do you ever fly with none?
When I grabbed the mavic 3 classic I ditched the $650 fly more kit for only a second battery, and multi charger. The unit already comes with additional props. And honestly I’ve never been in a situation needing more than two charged batteries. And I use a backpack to carry my drone anyway. It came out to like $260 for those two items maybe? A fraction of the cost of the flymore kit.
WAIT. The smart remote has antennas now? My RC remote has antennas built it and only the RC Pro had antennas.
Haha this video is gold 🔥
So if i want the smart remote and extended batteries what package should i go for? The drone + smart remote and by batteries separately?
So if you use the mini3 pro battery the weight will be different because the mini 3 pro batteries are heavier than mini4 pro battery?
I disagree. I have two phones. One is a 15 Pro Max that has a much bigger and brighter screen than the controller. Plus, the controller battery lasts longer without the built in screen.
Yeah but if u go into the sun with a phone the screen will overheat and it will be very dark ,but the controler is cooling itself with a fan on the back
Yeah exactly. 700 nits on the rc 2 and 2500 on my s24 ultra. Plus I can use my tablet as the screen if I want a bigger screen or don't want to use my phone.
@@Zoroaster4 Yep. I sometimes use my 13" iPad pro.
@@Unknow_RyZe You must be referring to an iPhone overheating. Samsung phones don't get dimmer when they are on a long time.
@@thomzaThey may not get dimmer, but they do overheat. Also, the battery drains when it's too cold (shooting in cold locations). But overall, it's sweet.
48mpx camera bro .. cray.
I'm just wondering with the extra heavy battery which makes the drone weigh over 249g do you technically have to register it now and then possibly do other things just for the couple extra grams that it now gets? Or can you kind of get by because no one is really going to go and grab your drone and actually weigh it to see if its actually more than 249gs?
Love this guy…..great content, but he makes me laugh too.
Do I get the Fly more Package, or Drone with smart controller, extra battery and ND filters?
I like how you use your right index finger to dislodge the phone 😂
As for care- your not "getting" anything if you crash your drone, please dont use that same, misleading language as corporations who sell it.
Your still paying for repairs, and for insurance itself so its not that 0-1.
It's still very expensive to crash/lose it when you count total cost
How do you get a waiver from the FAA to capture that night footage?
He was right i want more batteries but best buy was sold out of fly more combo
I wanna pull the trigger, but whats up with the Drone rules? Are we able to fly drones after a certain date?
Is it possible to record perpendicularly to the ground with this drone?
I was holding off on the smart remote because you can't run apps like Litchi - but the feature I wanted was Waypoints, and now the Mini 4 has it built in, sooo
Great video, thank you for the great tips. Question, do you get the remote sticks with the remote, or is that optional accessory? I come from a RC flying planes and helicopters back ground. Like to have sticks on my controller.
Where can I get the ND filters? Neither of the official bundles come with them. Looks like only from DJI?
I wasn't into the first DJI RC.... my phone was faster and perfect for quick set ups- I live close to a small airport so blue zone unlocking every day I want to fly-
Also it can pull photo and video faster along with a better more online maps system...
This thing looks amazing though. Mini 3 Pro is already amazing and I only JUST got that one.
Probably just stick with it
Ugh, feel the same way. Got the mini 3 pro in June
I managed to return mine under "technicalities" 👀
i like the setting in the app that launches DJI fly as soon as the remote is turned on/ plugged into your phone too.
@@StillBlazinTho22 the phone can be much faster if you know how to set it up....
The RC is OK though
Are smart remote and RC same thing?
“Little case bag thing”…thought I was the only one that called it that. Lol
'Super nervous Nelly' 😂😂😂
I've had my two Mini 2's since they came out. They are awesome drones and the best value for the money. THAT being said, I'm going to sell one and get a 4 pro..I don’t care about sensors since I don't wreck drones. The camera and I can use my Mini 2 controller does it for me. It's a Mini 2 on steroids 😂 I'm getting the Flymore combo plus a few extra batteries...I fly a lot...I've got 8 for the Mini 2's. You can't have enough batteries 😂...oh, and I use them to charge my phone when I'm not flying 😎
Oh, and the ND filter thing? Come on guys, your just going to crash your drone anyway so what's it matter?😂
1. Can you use Mini 3 Pro RC with Mini 4?
2. if you use the heavier battery, will anyone know? I .e. will you get in trouble for not registering?
Can I use mini 3 smart rc with this 4 ?
I have just bought mini 4 pro fly more combo. what do you say if you chose fly more plus or normal fly more combo?
If you fly with a plus battery, it will weigh more. Meaning it will be in a more heavily regulated class of drones
Mini 4 pro vs Air 3? Worth price difference?
Cursory look shows people now having issues with 45 second startup and lag with smart remote RC2?
can you please make tutorials FOR EVERYTHING IN LIFE?
Do you notice that there’s a creaking sound when the body is squeezed a little? I think you’re right that DJI tried to pack too much into such a small body?
Funny that you said that smart remote screen is brighter than your phone will ever be... where for me this was the sole reason NOT to go with smart remote - it's more than 3x dimmer screen than my phones screen and everyone seems to have some "sun shades" for their smart remotes to actually see something in the sunny weather :)
🎉🎉🎉
One thing worth mentioning is that if you use a Mini 3 battery with your new Mini 4 Pro it will put you over the 250g limit as the Mini batteries are 8g heavier than the Mini 4 batteries. I'm jussayin....
Question, how is the faa going to know if you bought the plus batteries or using batteries from the 3 pro and going over 250g?
Hi which goggles work with this?
In your opinion, is the remote upgrade worth it (coming from the RC 1)?
You didn’t ask for mine, but I would say yes. Having 2 customizable function buttons on the back and 2 separate scroll wheels for zoom and gimble tilt is a game changer in itself.
@@Jhorne84sorry, I have the remote control with screen (not the one that you clip the phone to). Are you referring to the new rc2?
@@flochfitness Oooh my mistake lol. Would you be getting the Mini 4? The signal strength and external antenna’s are worth it
Is a smart remote one with a screen? I saw there is the R2 remote, is that the latest smart one? Sorry if a dumb question, I am new to drones.
Yes
@@GetUrOwnHandle Thanks! I just got mine yesterday but noticed the augmented reality return to home graphic doesnt appear on the remote and it keeps defaulting me to Beijing...
@@Zzues check the Return to home (RTH) setting is on "Optimal" & not "Preset"
@@GetUrOwnHandle OK, thank you!!
I just ordered one. Do I need to order a charging brick also ?
would be wise to order a large power bank so you can charge on the go. But your phone charger will be sufficient for charging indoors
Can my DJI RC I use on my Mini 3 Pro, work with the Mini 4 pro?
No.
fly more combo plus better than the fly more combo?? whats the difference
The plus battery is heavier (would have to register drone), but lasts longer
The fly more kit has the rc remote
Is that a smart remote?
Damn IRS!👊 😂
Mini 4? Holy crap they are multiplying faster than rabbits.
I just can't justify the smart remote :( Just doesn't make sense to me, I already spent the extra 200$ on getting a better than average phone, and now I am thinking my phone will be paying me back by saving me on the more expensive remote? After all, peolpe have been flying drones with phones for years, how hard can it be...
Stupid question: does an SD card insert into the controller AND drone ? What’s the largest (SD card) size should I purchase ?
DJI Mini 4 Pro - Which Package to Buy?
me- The Expensive one
$1,160? Nothing, go big
1 big mistake you keep repeating. What remote really depends on what type of flyer you are. People use different types of apps that are only available on iOS or Android. You can't use those apps on the smart remote.
Most Pro's who use like preprogrammed flight use ipad mini's even.
This is what I'm trying to find out, if the mini 4 remote will be able to run third party apps, it's not really clear as no reviewer specifically mentions this
Can i get ❤ for first comment
hi 🙋🏼
Does the first smart remote support mini 4 or should I get the smart remote 2
You don't need the extra batteries if you use your drone casually
Hi I’m 12 year old
U are paid too heavy by Dji man
"save 200$ if it means that much to you"
You sir, is very spoiled im afraid
Im sure its pocket money for you, but for people working normal jobs its a lot
If you can’t afford an extra $200
Get a job
Why is there no nd filter for the wide angle? So its unusable in manaul mode
Short and sweet! Excellent review. By the way, are there any pros and cons of opting for 45-minute batteries? I'm concerned that with longer battery life, the weight might exceed 249g, necessitating registration with aviation authorities.
