People are often scared of the end and to me that says that the spirits whose job it is to guide terrified mortal souls to the next incarnation or the next world or whatever, they have a duty of care to comfort and console the deceased and let them know things will be okay. I personally think about death daily and I think that i would like to have the reaper just sit down beside me and listen to me talk about my life and my friends, maybe whisk me off to see those people and make sure they're okay. I don't want death to be too spooky and creepy. I want grief counselor death who holds your hand and says it's all okay

Yeah, I was instantly thinking, "That knitted shawl is going to get caught on every branch and twig she walks past," but the vibe was nice. You could add some simple ties to the hat. That way you can have some extra security for it on windy days or just leave them untied for a little extra wispiness.
It's beautiful and doesn't look scary. It must have been hard to make, but I bet it was satisfying when you finished. The best things take work to make.

Don't know how my aunt would have felt about seeing that in her last moments but it's a good costume concept. My aunt's dog knew the day before she passed was going to die. We were visiting her and the dog just randomly got into my lap and I felt a profound sadness coming from him and when he looked at me....we both knew she wouldn't last the next day or so. As for the theme? IIRC there's a Japanese belief that fireflies are connected to the spirits of the dead and that a particular type of butterfly acts as a kind of psychopomp to take the spirits to the other side so a moth wouldn't be too far off.

“Fantasy hospice nurse” I like that description, it fits a character I have too: She knew a spell that gave the soul its rest and basically went around giving euthanasia to those who requested her service, and when the girl died her kindness was immortalized as the Snow Fairy of Souls, the genial grim reaper of that culture.
I definitely pick up on the Grim Reaper vibe, but like…a good Grim Reaper? One who’s gonna be super gentle and kind about helping you accept the fact that you’re, ya know, ☠️

Moths are possibly the chillest insects that I can think of. Even the ones that will drink blood. But I live with a person that screamed they were going to die by a two inch lizard chilling on a bookcase. So I'm sure this costume strikes fear in other folk. If I saw this on the street I'd think "cool cosplay" but avoid all contact. Looks like a lot of hard work and simply for that fact.

She makes me think of a character I created called the Last Gardener. A kindly looking old man with a shovel that appears when it's time to pass.
