This is a really honest gear review! I Think that using a POD shows well how the guitar sounds in a real plug and play situation at home... probably the noise gate is turning off a bit of the sustain but anyway the sustain on this guitars is remarkable! Thanks for sharing! I'm thinking and thinking in getting a 7 strings guitar but I don't know yet how different it's the neck feel. How do you feel about the transition from 6 to 7 strings?
Thanks! I did everything I could to not bog down into showing off any skills, either playing or mixing. No fat bass to hide behind, no big shredding, no super-expensive equipment. Just the sound of the guitar. Really happy you liked it! You're absolutely right about the noise gate. As for how the neck feels, I have a story for you. Way back in 1897 when I was starting out, a bandmate had a seven string LTD Horizon, and asked me to play something while he walked out into the audience to check the sound during sound check. I looked down and honestly didn't know how to play this huge instrument with the weird extra string. I started playing something simple, noticed a string was a little out of tune, and decided to do a quick touchup of that string... except it wasn't that string. And the more I tried to tune it the more it went out of tune until the guy walked up again, grabbed his guitar and shot me a 'What the actual fuck are you on about?' look. About ten years later, same thing happens, different band, different band mate. I've been playing for years and years now, and I confidently grab the Ibanez Universe and think 'Ha ha! Now I am an experienced guitarist and this shan't foil me!' and proceed to utterly butcher the intro riff to one of our songs because I keep thinking the B string is the E string. So... I was utterly intimidated getting this guitar. But you know what? I got used to it. Quickly. For the moment, I'm doing exactly this - playing six string licks, riffs and solos and not worrying about the extra range. Getting used to the idea that the low E isn't the string closest to me anymore. And it works. It works gloriously. Don't let fear put you off!
Thanks James - we'll see what the future has in store! So far it's been hugely enjoyable to explore the extra range. Thanks for watching - and for taking the time to comment!
Yes, the pickups on this are really snappy, loads of harmonic content. I'd say that potentially, for some people there isn't enough low end, but I find the sound really pleasant.
You made me want to listen to some Pantera and Dream Theater now! I like the clean tone of the Soloist. I wouldnt know what to do with 7 strings though. I guess I would have to learn a lot of newer Dream Theater. Petrucci likes his 7 stringers. I love Jacksons and Charvels. I have since the 80s. I have 30 of them bad boys myself. My two favorites are my Jackson Soloist XL and my Charvel 650XL.
Mission freaking _accomplished_. Vulgar Display of Power needs a listen every few weeks, I reckon :) Yes it has a really clear and glassy clean tone. Obviously as you throw gain on it everything gets compressed out and by the time I do the last comparison with the Dinky on a ridiculously overdriven Rectifier preset, you can't make out any difference at all. But in the clean tones it's really crazy how different they sound - and how much more of the chorus effect the Soloist picks up. I wonder why that is. For the moment I'm trying to get used to what to play on it too, but that's what life is about, challenging ourselves to discover new things! Thanks a lot for watching the video :)
Hi Andi, nice presentation of the product. I don’t know if you can help me, I wanna a 7strings and I’m hesitate between these 3 Jackson’s: - SL7 HT - DK7Q HT - HT7FM I like a brutal metal sound and a clean like you did with this love of pantera with your sl7. I like playing Amon Amarth, Slipknot, Pantera, Megadeth, Carcass, Death, Metallica... What do you recommend for me? Thanks, Bert
I have a DK7QM with a floyd rose and I love it, first 7 string and it feels so natural to play. I've been playing 6 string dinkys for a long time and this one fit like a glove> hope this helps.
+Donovan Bartoo Great decision! It's my honest opinion that this guitar, at least for me, is worth every penny. I don't see why it wouldn't work out. I'm currently playing in drop G# on a 9-60 set and it works just fine. A 10-64 isn't too far away. There's plenty of adjustment room on the trem claws and truss rod. I'll be doing a follow-up review video next month giving you my experiences with the guitar after about nine months of playing it.
Agreed! There's something to the edge of the new guitar, and the way the body of the tone is hollow enough to really catch the chorus effect. Thanks for listening - and for your opinion!
Man, that JCM900 sounds great but it's a 100w head. At apartment volumes it's like driving a Lamborghini sitting still in traffic, it's sacrilege. I might lug it out to a rehearsal space and do a proper live-volume miked up video though now that you've given me that idea. I'd love to get my hands on a Kemper for review purposes, but the one I'm really interested in is the Atomic Amplifire - I've heard some great things about it and it seems the right size and price. I've also started using Overloud TH3 in the studio and might do a little sound demo of that.
Great, yes do that rehearsal place review. The pod doesnt do the guitars justice. Havent heard of the Atomic Amplifire but ill give it a listen on youtube. I do have a dsl 401, the valve combo and luckly i live in a student house where noise aint really an issue :)
No, it absolutely doesn't do it justice, but it was a good, simple way to just set up some clean, in-between and dirty tones within minutes of unpacking the guitar, which is why I included the DK-2 comparison, to sort of at least give you a relative picture of how it sounds. Awesome circumstances for you and I can imagine that DSL sounds amazing. I had the pleasure of playing one that belonged to a guitarist I knew and I loved the tone. 40 tube watts is a LOT of noise. Good noise!

Andi Kravljaca Thanks a lot for the story my friend!
Just bought one today. I can't wait till it ships.
Great content. Keep it up!
Thanks! New videos every Monday, so I intend to! :)
great demo
Thanks a lot! :)
I ended up getting an SL7 as well, haha. Your demo convinced me!
Loving the 7 string, Andi. hope to hear some gnarly new music out of this beast.
Thanks James - we'll see what the future has in store! So far it's been hugely enjoyable to explore the extra range. Thanks for watching - and for taking the time to comment!
The SL7 sounds surprisingly nice and bright on cleans! I was expecting a much darker tone. I wonder how it would sound through a Mark V or IIc+.

@@AndiKravljaca for those who don't like that tone they can easily swap the pickups. It is a nice guitar! Definitely on my list of quick buys.
what is that cool speaker in the left corner? (cube turned like a diamond shape, divided quad?)
Actually that isn't a speaker, it's my PC! It's an HP Omen X and comes in this eye-catching diamond shaped case. Thanks for asking!
@@AndiKravljaca Thanks, Andi!!!
hey andi beautiful guitar man sounds killer.
Thanks a lot, Don, it's a real beauty, I guarantee you. Haven't regretted the purchase one bit.

I live near Dallas, Texas and was fortunate enough to attend PANTERA's CD release parties for Vulgar and Far Beyond. Very cool guys. RIP Dime

Hey man lovely guitar thinking about getting one But will it work for drop G# on a 10-64 gauge

This Love by Pantera sounded so much better on the SL7 than the DK2

dont use the pod, it ruins it :)
One investment at a time, Timo ;) More will come.
Ha sure :) But you have a nice marshall right over there! And i would really love for you to review a kemper (if the chances ever arises)
