I went to a server that was full of saluting soldiers. What a wholesome thing to see

That's true. He did beat both a heart attack AND cancer. Took a lot to bring him down.
I Think nobody will be able to replace Rick as soldier, He made Soldier the crazy rocket launcher wielding maniac who he is today, And to the people who have said TF2 is dying. After seeing an entire SERVER of soldiers doing the Shotgun Salute Taunt and firing rockets into the air and playing the Rocket Jump Waltz trough a mic as a tribute, Watching an entire server go into a ceasefire the mourn his death. That just confirms my view of TF2's Community. It may be rough around the edges but all-in-all The people we all play with (and crit with shovels) are good at heart. Rick lives on in Soldier he doesn't just play soldier as a character he IS Soldier.
Because of his amazing way with Soldier we will never forget our Rocket Jumping Riot.

Tf2 was my childhood game basically and I made some important friends and ex friends there, it changed my life in many ways but left the game a couple of years ago now, believing the game was indeed dying as everyone said.... but lately I'm slowly changing my mind and if this goes on I'll probably get back to my Master Game

i felt like the death of Rick May opened up our eyes, team fortress 2 was a childhood to loads of people, he was a childhood hero. the news of his death spread like a wild fire, even to those who stopped playing, or never played tf2. we'll remember him not only as a man who build apart of our community, and as a teacher, but as a man who survived, a real life hero and legend.

It's been 4 years...jeez time flies.
But Rest in Peace Rick May, and fly high as we said.

Oh man those voice lines at the end made me choke up and cry I was not expecting that and the fact that it sounds like he is talking to me and the whole TF2 community
Joined a server, everyone was batshit killing each other. Then I let everyone know about the death of Rick. Needless to say, in around 5 minutes the killings did stopped and we all started using taunts, like dancing, doing the stock shotgun on top of the bridge (2fort) and everyone went soldier. There were still some guys who killed us, tryhards. They got kicked by their team, and 2 guys turned medics to help us recover and stop dying from those tryhards.
The TF2 community may be dying, but it's still awesome that it's holding such a big tribute to Rick.
PS : I stayed around 30 mins on that server and nobody killed noone (except the tryhards who got kicked shortly after), and then I left. I can only hope that they didn't started doing batshit killing again, and that everyone was peaceful.

Uhh, you do realise the community is not dying. Infact we hit peaks that we have not had since 2013 a month back.
As a terrible market gardener, I scored a 3 kill streak after 20+ games just to respect Rick May. I don’t know if it’s enough but it’s the least I could do.
Try swinging a second before and you might get a few more kills as it takes a while for the shovel to actually hit something.
I can get the timing right mostly, I'm just bad at rocket jumping. Those jump course maps don't really help since it doesn't replicate the actual terrain and obstacles you get in maps.
@@burntbacn Don't worry, the maps just help you get the gist of the basics of the basics of how to take on a challenge of rocket jumping. You just need to know the map itself like the back of your hand, for example look up Soundsmith's tutorials to Trolldier on Hightower, giving a guide how to get around the map in the right way ruclips.net/video/XT9iFW_F41E/видео.html
There are more maps to be mastered, so good luck. You will need to practice a lot but thats just the usual part of being Soldier main, rocket jumping.

On our team we were like 9 soldiers after someone said "The Voice Actor has died"; Anyone killed each other. I cried, Soldier was one of my favourites mercenaries of the entire Team Fortress 2.

Rick May carried on through a heart attack, a stroke, cancer and even managed to fight against corona despite his age and condition. He wasn't just a man, he was an older soldier; and he carried on like one, smiling with his mad grin. But, like all good things, he had to go...but, don't forget, he'd want us to be happy and live our lives to the fullest and carry on as real soldiers.

I’ve always felt that this theme is the most nostalgic of TF2’s songs, and that feeling is captured gorgeously here. It legitimately sounds like something you’d hear at a funeral, honoring a fallen hero.
