    sheesh, my pronunciation is trash. if you have any questions or I didn't explain things well enough please drop a comment!
    one of the reasons why people love artists like Dilla, Madlib, and Flying Lotus, is because they managed to really humanize their beats with off grid techniques - 8th swing on the hi hats, early snares, loose kicks, and all other kinds of tomfoolery.
    in this video I'll show you how to get much funkier and looser off-grid drums in any DAW/sampler, even with cheap ones that don't necessarily have the features to do so, like the korg volca sample and the teenage engineering PO33KO!

    Or you can just change the swing of certain snares and kicks. That's the easy way to do it.

      you mean selectively? yes you can do that easily in a DAW - a bit more complex in some machines!

    But did you forgot to üajen hack your volca sample for getting longer sequences

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  2 года назад

      hey dude! I do have the pajen firmware! I didn't need to expand the sequence in this case, the piano sample i triggered was just to put the beat in context.

    This is the dirty way to achieve what some call the drunken feel. The reality behind this isn’t anything random : it’s quintuplets and septuplets polyrythms .

    • @BIGUMAMI
      @BIGUMAMI  Год назад

      Yeah that's a great way too, though I doubt Madlib and Dilla had quintuplets quantisation on their samplers back in the 90s 😂

    • @SamSilk
      @SamSilk Год назад +3

      @@BIGUMAMI no. Dilla didnt quantize at all but you can find interviews of Questlove who worked with him a lot explaining that these were concepts he used extensively. By the way, it’s definitely possible to get quintuplet and septuplet grooves with the right percentage of groove even on an old MPC
