Scott’s voice is soulful and he is the king of riffs and runs. He’s been called a beast. Kirstin has fewer leads, but fills out their sound with her backup vocals and effects. She kills the leads she has and has power vocals as needed. She also had a lead in Kinky Boots on Broadway. Mitch, with his unique high tenor voice is probably the best singer of the band. His effects are unbelievable. He doesn’t need the megaphone to make the electric guitar effect. Those three are the main vocalists and knew each other growing up. They sang together as The Trio in high school. They added the bass, Avi, and the beatboxer, Kevin, to form Pentatonix in 2011. Avi, is a great bass singer and has opera training. He left in 2017 and now has a successor solo career. The current bass, Matt, joined the band in 2017 and has his own his unique talents. Kevin, the beatboxer/tenor/cellist is probably the best all around musician. Their music is mainly Pop and Christmas, but they cover any genre. They are all songwriters and have been increasingly creating original music. Recommend their cover of Mad World.

Kirstin/Kirstie (rhymes with Thurston/thirsty) is a mezzo-soprano (literally "half soprano"), which basically means her voice tone is richer and her voice covers more of the lower range of a soprano singer. She is sometimes even classified as an alto, which is the next lower female voice range below soprano. Like all of the singers in Pentatonix, she has a wide range and can reach lows in the alto range and highs in the soprano range. While I've never heard her use them in a song, she can also do "whistle notes", which are pretty much what the name says - think Mariah Carey when she goes stratospheric in some of her songs. Kevin is the drum set...beat boxing. Yes. Kevin is in the gray hoodie with the white hoodie underneath. When you listen to the Queen version you will hear Kevin tried very hard to do the percussion like it was done originally. Yes...Mitch is the electric guitar. The megaphone is a prop. Mitch has been accused of being an alien by many reactors. You can use PTX instead of Pentatonix. That is their nickname. Try their "Evolution" videos. They have done the Evolutions of Music, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Rihanna. You will hear Kirstie in these videos. She and Mitch are so similar in pitch that they are perfect backup singers. Scott is a very emotional singer. He feels the words he sings.

Sorry to say, but you missed a lot with keeping your eyes closed for many important parts of this video, which is why you were so surprised when Mitch started his guitar solo (BTW, he didn't need the megaphone as he doesn't use one on stage/live). While your eyes were closed, you missed seeing Kevin's drum part as well. Suggestion, yes, you want to concentrate on the song, the vocals, the harmonies, but keep your eyes opened. BTW, you were wondering about Pentaholic ... well, an alcoholic can't get enough alcohol, well, people who have been listening to Pentatonix can't get enough, therefore have been nicknamed 'Pentaholics'.

Great reaction. This is a cover by the band Queen. Listen to that one to appreciate the PTX version. The little high, little low is taken directly from the Queen version, where it pans. Kevin is the drum set...beat boxing. Yes. Kevin is in the gray hoodie with the white hoodie underneath. When you listen to the Queen version you will hear Kevin tried very hard to do the percussion like it was done originally. Yes...Mitch is the electric guitar. The megaphone is a prop. Mitch has been accused of being an alien by many reactors. You can use PTX instead of Pentatonix. That is their nickname. Try their "Evolution" videos. They have done the Evolutions of Music, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, Ariana Grande and Rihanna. You will hear Kirstie in these videos. She and Mitch are so similar in pitch that they are perfect backup singers. Scott is a very emotional singer. He feels the words he sings.
A Pentaholic is someone like me who is addicted to PTX and needs to hear them regularly just for the fix. The gentleman you asked about is Matt who replaced Avi in 2017. They are all my favorite lol. But for me, Scott is the anchor & heart of PTX. Quite literally it was his brainchild (along with their 6th member behind the scenes Ben Bram). But his genuine heart is always there & the sincerity in his voice, not to mention the soul & ruuuunnnssssss lol are everything. He is their anchor, their center if you will. For me, Thank You & Waving Through a Window are where you should look for his vocals. Or the choir version of his very first brand new solo single Mars. That one hits all the notes & feels & you see his true TRUE self. Stunning. Also because it's my favorite upgrade by my favorite group, & so so valid in the world we live in, & is a message of positivity told in a way only PTX can deliver......please check out Imagine. Sorry to say, but you missed a lot with keeping your eyes closed for many important parts of this video, which is why you were so surprised when Mitch started his guitar solo (BTW, he didn't need the megaphone as he doesn't use one on stage/live). While your eyes were closed, you missed seeing Kevin's drum part as well. Suggestion, yes, you want to concentrate on the song, the vocals, the harmonies, but keep your eyes opened.
BTW, you were wondering about Pentaholic ... well, an alcoholic can't get enough alcohol, well, people who have been listening to Pentatonix can't get enough, therefore have been nicknamed 'Pentaholics'.
