- Famed record producer Tom Dowd once said of this solo, "those are notes that aren't on the instrument. Those are notes that are off the TOP of the instrument. That's what makes [Duane] such a magnificent guitar player, it's in the tips of [his] fingers. It's not in a knob, it's not how loud [he] plays. It's touch. And [Duane] has exquisite technique and touch."
I usually pontificate quite a bit over the Duane solos that I cover on this channel but I think I'm going to let Tom's comment speak for itself this time. This is slide guitar nirvana. As good as it gets. Nothing else to say.
