Love the concept. Portable, hopefully with a memory option and a downloadable option. If I'm reading a book it's great to be able to efficiently look up a word, and save it for future reference.
A nice-to-have is to read a book and record an important sentence , or record a beautiful description.

Yeah, next time I go to Spain, I'll definitely bring it it. Pretty cool for reading the ingredients of certain foods. Although - google lens is pretty good at doing it too.

I've just purchased the YouDao Pen 3...it's very easy to use and pretty good overall in the translation from Chinese-English which I use most of the time to help me learn Chinese. One drawback I noticed so far is that when I scan a single word in English to Chinese, the translated Chinese word shows the word in Chinese but there is no audio accompanying it to let you listen to the word & pronunciation in Chinese. However when I scan a full sentence in English, the translated Chinese words have the audio accompanying it and you can hear & listen to the pronunciation. I certainly hope this option can be made available for single word scan in English -Chinese. Hopefully an update will be available in the near future

It's a great idea and implementation - only three languages at the moment is a bit limiting though, but if they get some more added on then it could be really great.

I love such products, in the past I had 1 like that that looked like a very small laptop with 2 color display and no option to scan.
But I've got to be honest, it's hard probably for such a product to exist now when everyone has a powerful phone in his pocket that is probably via an app can do the same and sometimes maybe even better

    • @smartyoudao

Hi there, this pen will be very useful for language learners, not just translating the languages. Translation is just one part of its functions.😄

@@smartyoudao First of all I highly appreciate to see the company itself replying here!
I don't want to be rude or anything, I do like the product, but today there are learning apps as well and many things this pen can do are being done by smartphones too, but if you can somehow get maybe approval in universities which won't allow the use of smartphones or only particular dictionaries this might be a great hit

@@DimusTech Hi there, yes, you are correct, this product are more suitable for people who have a strong need for language learning as well as book reading, so that’s why we call it dictionary pen not translation pen. We are still working hard to introduce this new type of devices.☺️

Looks like a nice product if you visit China or Spain. I am eager to find out how big of a text can it scan? Exit sign in a subway?
If it can do this it is a very nice traveller gadget - it can help getting around in foreign countries. Let’s hope it will have more languages soon.

The real test is translating Japanese into understandable English.
Japanese prose are constructed in a way where the object of the sentence is written before the subject. Which is complete opposite of English(and almost every other language actually) prose.
On a separate topic; Can the UI/Text be enlarged? I am visually impaired and can only read large fonts(atleast size 18 font).
