I went to discovery academy when I was 15 which was owned by the same people who owned Provo canyon. Utah has capitalized on the troubled teen industry by taking advantage of desperate parents and abusing those in their care. Dr. Eugene Thorne practiced aversion conversion therapy. We were forced to stand facing a wall for 25 minutes unless of course the staff forgot about you in which case you stood longer. Females were treated absolutely terrible there, and the disgusting living conditions were nauseating. Half of the cost of that school was $80,000. When my mom didn’t cough up that amount, they kicked me out and refused to release my transcript. They had every legal right to do so, and I damn near didn’t graduate high school because of that. Luckily they didn’t break me and I graduated on time with better grades than before. I am really glad to see attention bring brought to this issue. What I went through was mild compared to what others went through. Discovery academy was terrible, but it was Disneyland compared to Provo Canyon. I had never thought much of Paris Hilton until she started sharing her story. I am glad she’s using her platform and fame to speak out and hold this criminal industry accountable. She’s bringing some much-needed attention to these issues, and I am proud as hell of this girl for fighting back against turnabout.

Dr.Phil does not need to be canceled. If you want to get technical Dr.Phil show is owned by Oprah. Their contract is with her and her network Harpo. A person gives a job to a person if they want to help a persons situation, not forcing the person and hold them hostage as their parents pay for their safe return.
