I remember this playing on the radio in the mid 1970's as my parents would drive us to the beach every Sunday afternoon. I can still hear the start of the song crackle to life, the smell of seasalt, the view of beautiful blue water and the pure enjoyment of just knowing I was going to be playing in the surf and sand...Man i wish that would come back!!!

My favourite cousin died a few years ago. I went to visit her when she was on her deathbed and she told me "Did you know that every time I hear Band on the Run, I think of you?" She remembered, as clearly as I did, our amazing summers together, having fun, no responsibilities, swimming, hiking in the woods (to go smoke secretly), riding our bikes... And now that she is gone, well, each time I hear it I think of her. I miss you Julie. Thank you Paul for somehow cristallizing a magical period of my life in a song.

Out of all the songs that I listened to throughout my 32 years of driving coast to coast and Canadian provinces. This song has always been a constant on the radio as a companion to me either all day or all night. And when my driving days are finally over and I have left this world. Stuck inside these four walls
    Sent inside forever
    Never seeing no one
    Nice again
    Like you, Mama
    You, Mama
    You
If I ever get out of here
Thought of giving it all away
    To a registered charity
All I need is a pint a day
If I ever get outta here
(If we ever get outta here)
Well, the rain exploded with a mighty crash
As we fell into the sun
And the first one said to the second one there
    "I hope you're having fun"
Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
    Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run
For the band on the run, band on the run
Well, the undertaker drew a heavy sigh
Seeing no one else had come
And a bell was ringing in the village square
For the rabbits on the run
Band on the run, band on the run
And the jailer man and sailor Sam
    Were searching everyone
For the band on the run, band on the run
Yeah, the band on the run
    The band on the run
    Band on the run
    Band on the run
Well, the night was falling as the desert world
    Began to settle down
In the town they're searching for us everywhere
But we never will be found
Band on the run, band on the run
And the county judge who held a grudge
    Will search forever more
For the band on the run, the band on the run
    Band on the run (Yeah)
The band on the run (Yeah)

Paul McCartney remains one of, if not the single greatest singer/songwriter/musician/composer/producer/ performer of the 20th and 21st Centuries. If not of all time. And a heckuva' great person. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple times over the years and you couldn't ask for a nicer, jovial, friendly, and more personable individual. • @douglasskaalrud6865

I think he got it just right. The first third of the song is subdued-almost melancholy and his soft, almost sparse bass line reflects that. The middle third is harder, a little more intense and his bass line takes a little harder edge. He lets the orchestra and guitar take the bridge into the last third unassisted and then he shifts into the more melodic bass line with the flow of the escape run. The song has three or four different tones and intensities and he supports each one ideally.

It’s very nostalgic I remember when this was on radio in 74 I was just a kid 7 years old and my older brothers and sisters used to play the album but I didn’t like it back then, but I became a fan of wings way after the band had broken up. Buy far for me this is my favorite song from them.

In the early 70s my brother and I had 4 paper route delivering The Milwaukee Journal. On Sunday mornings we and a friend who would drive would stop at a restaurant to eat breakfast. A jupebox had this song on it and I would put in a dime to play it every time.

this was probably my favorite song as a child. whenever it came on the radio I just loved it. but grew even more fond of it as I got older. played it a ton on guitar hero and now I play it pretty regularly in discord. just the absolute best, so layered and just oh so good

This song IMO highlights who was the best songwriter in The Beatles,
This is Pure Class like so much of Macca’s songs from the 1970s/80s I think
