I had the great pleasure to caddy for Peter at one of his charity "A round with Alliss" a few years ago. This wasn't one of the televised series but one where some club golfers had bid in a charity auction to play with Peter. This was at Swinley Forest GC. I can only say that Peter was an absolute joy to caddy for. Just great fun, kind, appreciative.... and what a raconteur. Just fantastic company, and he could still play a bit as well. A round I'll always remember. RIP Peter, you're greatly missed.
Loved the programme with Allis…Parkinson was an average interviewer blessed with the fact that he had a wealth of real superstars in the golden age to interview
Peter was great at maintaining his spine angle and shoulder turn at 90 degrees around that spine angle. Oh and he was the best golf commentator of all time too! Michael was the best interviewer and I am the very best at peeling potatoes!
Brilliant set of BBC programmes featuring the superb Peter Alliss. In this programme my favourite aspect are the caddies. Flat caps. From a different era...
This is a gem of a video. I loved this programme. RIP Peter Alliss. I've been lucky to play Hollinwell 3 or 4 times about 20 years ago. Such a great course. I can still remember every hole.
When I think of the laugh and enjoyment , when small watching these celebrities play golf on TV it makes me happy and sad because most have gone but grateful for the fun and influence there bought to my life.
Ah, the 13th at Hollinwell! About 4 years ago, hitting a 4 iron into the sun, I collapsed completely into the shot, losing it in the rubbish on the left. Put down a 2nd ball and played a rescue club up into the sun, never to be seen again until, down at the green, one of my companions espied my 2nd ball nestling in the hole. A different way of making a par 3!
There was a BBC video made of the series. Anybody know where we can get a copy ? Also why does the BBC not re run the series. There were many famous personalities featured. It is ageless.
Hi i rember it well was a secondary school then i love also shells wonderfull world of golf theres lots on utube but not sure about this show u could try bbc by email hope this helps enjoy yr golf i love it forever
Very enjoyable watch. Parky an excellent writer and skilled interviewer, but opening himself up to a bit of criticism here when put on the otherside of the mike. Alliss being his impeccable self as ever. Golf on the TV will not be the same without him.
Another great upload - thank you. Can you remember how many attempts Michael had before the "actual" tee shot on 13 !! I recall some of the members telling me the televised shot was not his first attempt LOL!!
Can anyone remember a golf series hosted by Peter Alliss in the 80's. Its not Pro Celebrity or Around with Alliss or One club Challenge or Golfing Greats (ITV). The opening scene was a close up of a golf ball being hit I think, or the sound of it. He had Seve on it. I remember vividly Peter in awe if Seves driving. They played a few holes. 🤔
A decent show back in the day but I felt it was slightly spoiled by Alliss praising his own game at every opportunity. Having said that he always seemed to have a genuine interest in his guests. Remember the Alice Cooper and Kiri Te Kanawa rounds very well
Hmmm. I wonder how much 'help' Parky got on that par 3 13th hole (like, was his ball deliberately moved to the green by one of the TV crew, for the sake of appearances?). I know the hole is a bit downhill, but I can't somehow imagine Parky hitting a 3 iron 230 yards with that very 'flicky' swing, or anywhere near that distance.

What a gent Peter Alliss was. Could listen to him all day.
This was an excellent programme , the BBC should start making these again, I’m sure they would be extremely popular.
Too middle class for the BBC
Bless. You've called yourself An Abortion. I bet you're good company

Lovely episode, like two old friends catching up after time apart and what excellent coaching from Peter Alliss.

Peter Alliss was the very best for this sort of program. RIP Peter and thanks for your legacy.
Utterly fantastic. What a natural Peter Allis was. I used to love these in 70s and 80s
this is about the time i really got into golf, late 70's.

must be a made-up story.... there's no sun in Nottinghamshire
Hollinwell: the most underrated golf course in the UK. RIP Peter, what a golfer (shame about the yips) and the great voice of golf.
Great course, played it many times when i lived in Notts even won a couple of match play events there. Peter Alliss a favourite of mine.
Absolute gold this. But can't find anymore anywhere on RUclips😣
Used to love this show rip Mr Alliss
More of these please, its great reminiscing
Unfortunately BBC wont make programs like this anymore . Too much hassle for them .

Love the two caddies.... I bet their conversation was prime
Yes bet they were high ranking members of the club
Video starts about 1:40. Thanks for uploading 👍
It's a shame there's no more of these on RUclips, I guess the BBC have erased all the other episodes.
Interesting comments about ‘those running sport’, very relevant given the behaviour of cricket and golf bodies.
I remember this actually being first broadcast.

Frank Mills' music being played in the intro.

Wonderful Peter Alliss! I've always liked Parky but he does come across a bit pompous in this!
The caddies! 🤣
Has anyone got any more of these? Seen that there was one filmed at Woodhall Spa. Would really like to see that.
Two good men .
Hollinwell has 20 holes of golf. An alternative 8th and 9th. Lets you play 9 holes in the morning followed by a beer lunch.
Great programme this..also pro celebrity golf i thunk it was called

Play better golf?

Parkinson comes over as an utter arrogant so and so in this. I guess he probably was/is.

…and here’s where I find out Parky’s a fellow southpaw!
Perky Parky, the wonderful hypocrite.
Sorry I cannea stand Micheal Parkinson.cold, very colddd. Alis was a star though.
Too lomg to load. Bye bye
