@@benfrainuk Got the keyboard and boy it is a change, bit intimidating. Never had ortholinear and that alone takes a bit of getting used to. I really like that I can use it at an angle and that it is split. It also is so small/flat, love that, feel and finish are amazing. The configurator is honestly amazing to the point that it too is almost intimidatingly rich in functions and the flash tool works without hickups. I picked a layout that I liked from the user base and modified it (Qwerty, Halmak, Qwerty with WASD on ESDF for gaming, some mouse keys). It will take a few weeks until I have setup my configuration for work (code) and play (dota2, valorant). The former I am still getting used to the new places for parenthesis, brackets etc. Also, lots of hot key combinations for IDE and windows don't feel as natural due to the non staggered layout and years of getting used to weird finger cramping positions. Will probably remap a bunch, the nice thing is to be able to remap the keys freely instead of remapping in every program that one uses. Regarding gaming, the number keys being in a different place due to ortholinearity really trips my muscle memory up for microing units. I think it is and will be a great keyboard but it is a lot to take in especially when tackling a new layout at the same time/switching back and forth to qwerty. Looking forward to the time where I am so used to it that I can also take advantage of all the advanced features and dual function keys to their full extent. Hope this first day impression helps people :)

It's truly maddening as a pro developer to see they have key swap even between layers, and copying of whole keyboard layouts with all layers, and yet...
Oryx is very limited, I had to write custom firmware just to implement alt-tab and alt-shift-tab keys that worked properly (continue to hold alt until you let go of the modifier key).
Yes, I wonder if ZSA will surprise us one day with a replacement thumb cluster that includes a wireless module. Or perhaps wireless will be on the Moonlander v2 🤔
Ee-ZED? No. I know Brits pronounce "z" as "zed," and that's fine, but in this case the "EZ" was meant to be pronounced "EE-ZEE" because then it's a homophone for "easy." As has been common for many, many years in US marketing. So even Brits should pronounce it as "Ergodox-EASY." Makes sense because prior to the EZ (easy) Ergodox, you had to build your Ergodox yourself.
thumb keys angled far too much. All the fingers should be 90° on the keys, like hammer and nail, for minimal fatigue. If main thumb key is angled too much and too far down, you will have to position hand slightly diagonal to the keyboard. Thus, no more arched fingers. Redox keyboard, my current keyboard. For me it seems most natural to place hand and fingers straight on the keyboard, but thumb keys do not allow that. Angled too much, and too far down. Have to curl thumbs, or position hand diagonal. In my opinion that looks incredibly stupid. It looks like, when i put hand straight on the keyboard, main thumb keys need to be almost a full 1U beyond the inner corner keys, beyond QWERTY B and N. 0.75U beyond seems good (a single letter key is 1U wide and deep). Length of key is something to think about. It's likely best for whole front part of thumb to touch the key, from thumb tip to joint.
I don’t find the position of the thumb clusters on the Moonlander but then I’ve not tried anything like the Redox which may be better. That said, I would be happy to have one less key on the Moonlander. I just never use the middle one of the three!
Finally an actual review. Too many reviews are unboxings with little actual usage experience.

LMAO!
my split keyboard only wakes the computer from the left side
Pleased to update and say Moonlander works perfect now on macOS (thanks to a system update) and Linux (Arch/Sway) for waking up.
Oryx is very limited, I had to write custom firmware just to implement alt-tab and alt-shift-tab keys that worked properly (continue to hold alt until you let go of the modifier key).
When you say ‘custom firmware’, do you mean QMK or TMK or something else?
The only thing stopping me from buying a moonlander is the price. It looks really great!
Don't lie - you love the fact that you could pretend you were piloting the USS Enterprise.
Some days, that’s ALL I do 😀
Now if they could make it Bluetooth…….
Yes, I wonder if ZSA will surprise us one day with a replacement thumb cluster that includes a wireless module. Or perhaps wireless will be on the Moonlander v2 🤔
EH ZED? aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
Queen’s English mate ;)
Ee-ZED? No. I know Brits pronounce "z" as "zed," and that's fine, but in this case the "EZ" was meant to be pronounced "EE-ZEE" because then it's a homophone for "easy." As has been common for many, many years in US marketing. So even Brits should pronounce it as "Ergodox-EASY."
Makes sense because prior to the EZ (easy) Ergodox, you had to build your Ergodox yourself.
Ha, thanks, that was totally lost on me 🤣 I’ll promise to try and remember that if I mention it again!
thumb keys angled far too much.
Wait. A 20-minute video review of a keyboard without showing the actual keyboard, really? 😅🙇♂️
Thanks, I’ll try and ensure more footage of the board for future reviews 👍
How do you know my aunty?
😮
