@@wendydeane1627 It isnt, they removed low level zones and other maps, so even the old maps showed in the video are not longer in the game, also zones like sanctum and pandemonium were destroyed, now you can only access 1/2 of it :(

If Half of this stuff actually Existed , Aion would've been Quite the Satisfying Game . You see Swimming , Underwater Cities , Floating boats that you can actually jump from and go somewhere , a very very large if not infinite freefall distance , opening wings everywhere without a restriction to the location . Heck , if these fighting skills actually existed , Aion would've been the game of my dreams . and would you look at those Creatures , and how you can actually Tame them and makes them into mounts instead of having to spend a ton of Kinah in order to get a mount and such .

I remember playing it back in 2009-2010 during "the tower of eternity" version of the game and it was a unique fantasy approach ( at the time at least ) and an absolute joy to spend time in.
Now it has no identity, they cut out like 2/3 of all zones ( Why? Just why? ) botched flying system and absurd classes that don't into the world lore and ruin the immersion.
I tried it again back in 2023 and oh man was it garbage. Could play more than an hour before uninstalling it.
Aion is dead. If you played it during its best years (2009-2012 for me), cherish those memories and the fact that you got to experience it. It won't be coming back.
This is the most disappointing trailer in video game history; words can hardly describe how disappointing and honestly depressing this trailer is to look at 9 years later. After all this time, all we've gotten are graphical updates, weather changes in ONE area, a housing zone that's nowhere near as good as the one shown here, extendable weapons that are now obsolete, a poorly-conceived mount system, and a disgusting cashgrab scheme that locks our very characters away behind a paywall because the new rule is essentially "Play as a penguin or die".
Where are the swimming and boat levels? Or the fist-fighter class? Or the tameable, fighting mounts? What about the beautiful restored Theobomos with all the surfriders jumping around? What about the epic housing defense shown at the end, and the aerial housing plots? All of this was well on it's way into development; Aion could be the best MMO in the world right now, but it's all been wasted on greed. I hope you're proud of your cringey music and graffiti classes, your edgy machinegun-pistol class, and your nonsensical robots, NC; that's what you sacrificed the great future of a once-great game for.
Once they removed life skilling. That's where I lost interest. There's no more quality of life in there. Even they try to give housing, it's just mehh...
Now am happy to catch some horse, going for fishing on boat, farming, and making money other than by grinding. On Black Desert.

@@yoshi3706 i'll believe it when i see it. i was originally told that classic aion was stopping updates after a certain point so. I played classic for awhile but after awhile everyone started leaving cuz of the p2w portion.
@@Nelphyta Yes it was supposed to stop at 2.5, but they decided to continue it with 2.7 patch taking a new route, seems interesting for now :)

This trailer still gives me the chills, it is just a vision trailer, but I played in beta and am again now and NC soft has introduced a lot of the features seen here. I love the details touched on in the video, it looks like the mmorpg of my dreams and the fact that the creators of Aion have the same vision gives so much promise. It may lack in some respects now, but it makes it up in others and will deliver in the future so long as it has support. NC Soft and it's employees are a company. They can't create something great without a strong community to support it.
No swimming, no season changes, no Monk Class, no mob taming, no crossbows, no shields that can transform into God damn Hulk Hands. But we DO have housing, mounts, extending weapons, an ocean-themed zone in Balaurea, and pets. So SOME of this trailer has come true, at least!

I like it when the sorceror jumped into the air then summoned some wolves out against the assassin. He just knocks them out and jumps into the air, grabs her foot and throws her down onto the floor hoping to dive-stab her but she dodges. The new multi-mob attacking system will truly make this game beyond amazing.
I'd wager that 80% of what you saw in that trailer 12 years ago does not exist, even in the latest version 8.0. The beautiful towns and scenery don't exist. The monk type (fist) class doesn't exist, underwater doesn't exist, dynamic weather doesn't exist, pet taming doesn't exist, mounted combat doesn't exist, mage summoning wolves doesn't exist, massive moving statues don't exist.

I had to rewatch this, after I heard of a new project called 'A2'. Even though I quit Aion a few months ago, I'd love to see a sequel. Specially with this vision trailer in mind.
Michin Sin yeah if they had this in mind all these years ago, they xould gace been ahead of there time. most of these features just came out with certain games.
I dont understand why there is so much hate about this game, The game is amazing. So what they gave us a trailer 6 years ago that we didnt get in the most imidiate updates but 6 years later the game has really grown. A lot of what you see has come to aion now, And in time i dont doubt that there will be more of this. Aion has its ups and downs but it's a great game.
I really would like to play Aion if it were like this but it seems like this vision is still a long way off...
WoW isn't only about being a game in general. WoW is a legacy, a saga, and a universe. Aion is just an online game. Warcraft has been around since the 90's. Warcraft has such in-depth lore, such content, such history, biographies, wars, historic events, myths, and many many stories. There are expansions, calendars, trading games, novelty accessories, clothing, conventions, and so much more. Warcraft has put the hugest dent into the MMO world.

1.4 million plays for this video, 4k likes 200 dislikes and after 10 years there is just housing implemented from this video? what happened? My guess would be that the producer or someone left the company and this has copyright, Cuz i see all the models and animations and everything is done in this video, that's gameplay footage right there so it was partly done at the very least.... What happened? I still really want this :(

We have Housing Mounts and New Visual. But it's nothing like the Vision portrayed, NCSoft stabbed me in the heart when they didn't release mounts with a taming ability, When they created this stupid Housing instance that doesn't look anything like Vision either, We have modern looking homes lol. We, people, play your stupid game because we wanted to experience some other world, not similar to ours, and you just keep putting Sims-style shit in the game. All NCSoft ever cared about is money and flashy scams. This was the last straw. Thank god I'm not an addict to your mind prison game anymore...

A vision is what they want to do. And they should have done it like that. When a company doesnt follow their business model (vision) they already have failed.

Solado Low profit? LOW PROFIT? Low profit. Do you have any idea how much money AION was (and still is) making in Korea? AION was a great cash cow for NCSOFT and they failed to make a based on their 'Vision'. We didn't want 100% but goddamn we definitely did not expect bards, robots and tacked-on SIMS features.
Almost 14 years later, I'm here scrubbing through for the class that fought with his bare hands. What a beautiful vision this was. I truly hope that it lives on somewhere in NCSoft and that we might see some version of this come to reality. Aion Classic is alright--I love the Executor class. But I miss the direction Sarpan was taking the story, and the spirit that this vision had.

@Sooreng123 Think about it. 1.4 was the patch around November (When this trailer was released) and 5 months later we're on 1.9. So do the math we are looking at a long time, consider this like an expansion (they said one major content update per year, that's basically meaning a free expansion per year).

I remember watching this when it came out on youtube. I was so amazed back then. I vividly remember Aion Beta and Aion 1.0 was still a pay per month and it was amazing until it went F2P. Looking back, I find it funny that most of these things found in Vision trailer actually happened. But it happened elsewhere in FFXIV online instead.

The first true contender to WoW. aion has over 5 million subs world wide, with good reason. My entire guild left wow for aion, and so did i, eventually. we are pleased with that choice, aion is mutch more engading then wow, with its effects/Graphics & even cutscenes, it makes it so mutch better. The pve is great, Instances/Dungeons/world bosses quests & lore & the abyss. The PvP massive scale war in aion takes it to a whole other level, you Dont want to miss this. there are Trials out there

It makes sense, because this is an VISION trailer. That means that this things, as shown in the video, are implemented only on TEST clients in NCSoft managment, and are currently being made. It can take up to 10-15 years till all this content will be implemented in game, but let´s hope it will be someday. Anyways, AION is still a great game, a great story and Atreia is still a beautiful world to explore, even now. There are much things to do. Just stay, play and believe.

This video was the production of a genius. Even after 10 months and 1 milion views there are people still believing that this is a real game. This video is a CGI marketing video, this is not real game-play , it is not real game footage, it is not an expansion or the real current Aion.

To make it clear to all of you in simple words, as most of you seem to be really confused "why do we lack this content". Basically this is Aion 2.0 game is completly revamped, you will most likely keep your current characters once this hits the shelves. Probably around 2016. Maybe sooner as this has been work in progress for quite some time now.
Current Aion story ends with beritra death, or well there is another patch but story pretty much ends with his death at least for now.
@GlintTheStrong NcSoft is both publisher and developer, for NcSoft owns most, if not all, development studios that are working on Nc titles, studios and subsidiaries such as Team Aion, Team Bloodlust, E&G Studios, ArenaNet, Paragon Studios, Carbine Studios(which, according to wiki, is working on an unannounced title), Destination Games(developer of Tabula Rasa, this studio has been closed)
I just hope that one day, this "virtual dream" will come true...

Guys, notice that these things are currently not implemented in-game.
These vid represents what the devs want for the future of Aion, we don't even know for sure if this is ever going to be released.
persinally im exited for it all, upgrades to combat, new places, new features (house and mount system), swimming (of course there will be certain areas where u can swim at beggining of the update), etc
I quit Aion awhile back for WoW friends, but lately no one logs on, and since that was the only reason I stayed, I see no reason to keep on being bored. Aion, here I come! I would play Aion on max settings before, I can't wait to play with these graphical updates.
This was a concept trailer. It showed where they wanted to go with the game eventually, and as proof that they're still working on things.
They have added a fair amount of stuff from this one but as you said, there's still a ways to go before it's all in there. Hopefully the patch-notes from 3.5 get here soon and we can see what to expect next. :D
Also, this is a video of features they are (hopefully) going to add to the game. They're not currently in the game (though a lot of other nice things are).
Basically, this video is an expose of ideas & implementation which they intend to add to the game. For example, currently if you run into water, you just run on the ocean floor and start to drown, instead of swimming.
It's currently a fun game, very pretty, balanced classes, well written quests, story, etc.
@serveroz , yes thats the idea, houses for the players, and legion ( clan ) houses too, but this is not coming yet and the next patchs, this is just a trailer of what ncsoft is working at the moment, it can take several months or years to come out. cheers mate

The ground isn't ugly at all. Aion's textures for the ground aren't bad comparatively to almost anything out there.
I've been playing Aion since launch...and this looks like an entirely new game. Jeezus. I sticking with Aion till this bad boy comes out...wow. Everything looks brilliant. I'm glad I rebuilt my PC with an i7...I'm going to need it.

I hope the Aion devs can implement all those features until the last expansion...
This trailer seems to imply that Aion is a "Sandbox PVP" MMO - it is not.
"Sandbox" implies that the Developers focus on interactable elements in the game. In other words, the game has elements that allow players to change the playing environment for all players, even if only temporarily.
@voinageo this is real game play!! not for the current version of Aion but it IS in game!! All the features that make this video so great WILL be in game at some point,not today not in Assault on Balaurea, but at some point.
The release on this will most likely be around 2013 since mmos require a monthly fee to survive. The point is that most people do not have good pcs and from the looks of things they will be certainly be needed and thus ncsoft would not risk releasing this soon.

@MrTechnova The funny thing about the games you mentions is that they're being designed/published by NCSoft. (Tera's design team consists of members assigned to develop Lineage III, but left NCSoft due to...I have no idea. ) In the end, NCSoft is going to be making the money either way. Say what you want, but putting all of that into an MMO is a lot of work. Yes, even if it was in it initially. We probably wouldn't have AION today if they were going to do that.

One of the best mmos out there by far. It has awsome graphics/effects & a cool lore & history actually. didnt think i would like the lore but i so do, we who begun the aion journey are still here along with some newcomes from my old guild from WoW, when this will be more or less released in patches, it will take the mmo genre to awhole other level

Maybe in 100 years, someone will show this trailer to the best AI for that time, and tell him ....or her, to make this game 100% as seen here.
I think a lot of this footage is from a cancelled project or maybe it was from aion 2 before they decided to make it a mobile game.
Until the days today the chars can not swim, there is no water battle, the low level maps were practically unused, there is no ship system, the station system was not implemented, several mounts of the trailer until today were not implemented, system of Taming monsters like mount or pet was also not implemented, did not create the magic class that uses grabs and spells, which would be a magic class that uses plate, the mounts does not have attack skill :(
The day this is released is the day I'm re-subscribing.
I fear it's going to be a while.
I think Aion is the greatest game ver and hopefully it can please us further by becoming as good as it is in the trailer

Those changes are not yet in the game.
1.9 will come in may which contains a bunch of issues being resolved. Exp and soul heal and blablabla. No content in this patch.
2.0 is coming in May in KOREA so that means we will get it 1 or 2 months later which means we get it in juni/july.
3.0 will come much later in the future. No date for it. There will be a bunch of patches though probaply in between

this is not a expansion, but it shows what awaits us in aion :) , its like lineage 2 people who know LIneage2 , they will know how it works on Aion, they will add expansions every 6 months, so i'm good with that :) it was confirmed that this AINT a expansion, but all what is inside this video is what AWAITS us in Some PACKS! not a all in one expansion but in Splitted expansions ^^ like building clan citys and stuff ;)
