That tab has an independent gps chip, no cell needed. Some have it, and some don't. I've since since upgraded to the active pro rugged tab, it has the gps chip as well
Just the info I needed. Running a tabA 6 and wanting to go larger with the same x3 and mount with case. I take it that setup mounts just right with the tablet mount and water prof case?
how does the GPS work without internet?? and how does it keep track if you have no internet to it usually it requires a phone and then it triangulates the phone through your internet service
It has its own GPS chip. No internet required. If you're buying a tablet for gps then that's what you're looking for in the specs, many tabs require a cell signal
That tab was the t580. 10.1 screen. Manufactured I believe in 2016. I've since moved up to the Samsung galaxy tab active pro. The waterproof case cracked after 3yrs of use. The active pro is a rugged tab. No case needed. I couldn't find the same case I used on the t580. Hope that helps.
Temdan was the make of the case, last I saw it was unavailable on Amazon. The tab is a Samsung Tab A. Just make sure it has the stand alone GPS. I believe it changed over the model years
Using the 12v power supply on the dash of the x3, on others rigs that didn't have one we've just added a USB plug switch. I've also seen a guy bring a power bank as back up.
@@danlux4954 if your charging it I suppose you would leave an area open if you submerged it. It can only attest to that fact that while not being charged the case held up underwater some some time.
@@oneoffgarage that’s why I bought a Garmin Montana 750i with an extra battery. Cheaper than an iPad with a waterproof case. But I might go that way in my sxs to have a bigger screen.
Ffs 4:57, YOUR WELCOME EVERYBODY the uploaded did a poor job covering the name of the app so here I am doing it
Back country is the app, I'll add it the description. For those who miss it in the video

@@CloutTrout yes it is. They also sell preloaded tablets, it’s the only way to go!
Do you need a garmin glo to use with the tablet? Or does the tablet not need anything to connect for gps without wifi.

If your android device has GPS capability using a Garmin Glo 2 will act as wifi and your device will work.

What is the exact Samsung tablet model? Thanks

What size is your tablet and the case brand name? Thanks!
Samsung Tab A 10.1. I just looked up the case. It was made by Temdan but is currently unavailable
Are you still using this tablet or do you have another one you are suggesting?
Still going strong in 2 machines
Good video. Hook up a Garmin Glo to it.

Back Country. Works well
That back country app do they charge u every month ?
Nope. It was just the first time you dl the app.
Are you still using this app ? Also do you still recommend it?

Plug onto a tree and wait for the lightning.
Lifetime Trail maps rocks...
I've not got the chance to try them yet but I've heard great things
Does the gps map work without service? I ride in and out of service?
No cell service needed, I ride in the same kinda stuff.
That Garmin is for hikers.
what mount do you use
Just the can am oem, works fine
You need an galaxy active tab 3 bro
What's the benefit over the Tab A?
@@oneoffgarage Both do the same job but the active tab have military-grade protection and IP68 water and dust resistance

I believe he was using the Miller lite 2.0. 🤣
It seem that this tablet can't work whitout wi-fi,so not real GPS.
This Samsung Tab A works without wifi, has its own GPS chip. Works well
You could have gotten a waterproof Lifetime Trail Maps system twice over with all of that...
Yep. That's why I'm sharing it, hopefully save people some money and give options
This dude rants but doesn’t tell anything about what app it is!
Back County is the app, I mention that in the video.
