Thanks, again, Neville. So important this documentation. People have a difficult time grasping the complexity of aircraft construction. Strong but light. And modern jets today are built using the same techniques of bulkheads, formers ribs, stringers, etc. covered in thin sheets of aluminum.
not to mention the weapon systems, the munitions made, how many thousands of rounds fired in anger and the tons of bombs dropped - makes you think so hard about the war effort behind the scenes, so many woman given there time working shifts to keep there men in the war - truly the very best of British people, massive thanks to them all
its quite amazing to see the insides of the leading edge there - not only with the years of weathering and dirt accumulated you begin to realize the amounts of stress that are put of various parts of the aircraft over such a long period of time - when the paint begins to flake away with age and the changes in temperature, becoming so hot sat still in the sunshine to extreme cold and near freezing when in flight you can definitely appreciate these planes were not built to last this long, but they have, and they have done so very well, testament to the design and the build quality, even if some rivet holes here and there are questionable by todays strict standards, but even that makes you wonder at how many aircraft were lost due to airframe failures - these wonderful planes where thrown together because numbers mattered, and now its all about an experience, and how long can we keep that period alive and never forget
I can not believe the 'sag' on the boom ... and to think that (together with a few friends) supports the whole weight of the laden aircraft Thanks Neville, and a merry Christmas to you and everyone at EK

10,500 drawings, ten tons of aluminium... tens of thousands of rivets... seven brave crew and four fabulous Merlins... made by wonderful people

Thanks for another informative video. I had withdrawal symptoms when the vid didn't go out yesterday evening 😂 Thanks again.
Thanks, Neville.
will jane have a top turret ??
I was wondering how much of the plane is original, and a silly question just how many rivets are needed.
Great video yet again, Nev. When is the cafe and shop due to reopen?
Are the spar booms being remanufactured?
I was meant to be over this weekend for my last visit of 24. Caught the lurgy so stayed away as so close to Christmas.
