Nice one Dom, good to see progress on the Porsche, at least you have pleased all the moaners now!! I’m happy to see your updates as and when, I’m more interested in the Edwardian ! So many projects, and so little time, I dont envy you at all ! Always look forward to my Sunday episode whatever it may be, have quite enjoyed the J40 journey so far, keep it going.
Hallelujah the work on the Porsche lives . Shame John ain't with you . He loves that spot welder 😁 Dom whatever you do on your channel is fine by me. Just great stuff 👍
Great to have this update on the 356. Time for a general update on all the projects (aero-engine car, pedal car, Golf Pickup and the Land Rover)? More generally, really enjoy being "in your workshop". Thanks.
Very good. The elephant gobbling metaphor is a good one for such a monumental undertaking. It's so easy to imagine that I'll just chop out the rusty sections and weld in some new stuff. You're showing us how far from simple it really is. I really admire you for doing this to such a high standard without a specialized, elaborate restoration garage.
I lived most of my adult life in the USA Rust Belt States. It's not the best environment for anything made of steel, so battling rust was a constant task. The cars were sometimes so badly rusted there was no remaining connecting metal. And as you point out, there were often critical structural areas where three or four panels overlapped. I admire your persistence, craftsmanship and optimistic nature as you peck away at the rot, bringing this one back from the dead. It's a noble cause, indeed!
Ah Dom! Always a great day for all of us when the 356 and spot welder finally meet! Like you say, never remove too much old metal in one go, I fell foul of that approach when I first began restoring. It will get done taking small steps.
I never cease to be amazed that you are never daunted by the sheer scale of the tasks which you undertake. What a pal you have in Jon, you make a great team. Great entertainment for us viewers. Thanks Dom, keep up the good work.
356 - what a great Christmas present to all your subscribers! I honestly thought this was an impossible project when you started it (pulling the doors off by by hand - no tools needed). I'm trying to imagine how radiant your well-deserved grin will be when you finally get it drivable. Massive respect Dom; thanks.
As you say, the back end really is starting to take form now and looking marvellous. I must admit I was nervous for you when it was all apart and awaiting the delivery of panels from the states! Well done.
Great memories of cutting, forming, machining, welding, hammering, cursing and swearing. Thanks for your great content Dom and bringing me back in the shop vicariously with your videos!
I don’t mind that it’s a 14:46 minute snippet of the Porsche 356 rebuild - I’m just happy that it’s still a viable project 👌 Your focus on detail is what’s going to separate it from some of the more questionable examples I’ve looked at over the last couple of decades.
It’s amazing how manual the original build process must’ve been with all those complicated shapes to fit together. I’ve only managed a flat two inch square patch on my own project today so, good progress there!
Nice progress on the Porsche, glad to see it coming back together.remember sooner it’s done sooner you can drive it.just keep doing your thing.be safe 😎😎😎👍👍👍
Amazing, as usual. What a thing it will be when its done. A truly rust free 356 is a very rare thing indeed. I only wish I had your skill level. I bought an ex California, very nearly rust free car 10 years ago as I couldn't do that. Maybe I'd be prepared to get into something more involved for my next build...
The Porsche is back!!! Dom, just look how far the car has come! Remember when the rear of the car was a rusty mangled mess!? You are making progress, mate! The elephant is being eaten!
Love the 356 looks great mate. I restored a 64 Karmann ghia last year and replaced the bottom six inches so i feel your pain but before you know it you will have it done .Great job love it All the best happy xmas
Hi Dom. Great to see some solid progress on the Porsche. You cut so much off it I was worried you would not be able to get it all back together again. One bite at a time gets it done (eventually). When I heard that tune kick in I thought it was Mortske Repair. All the best, Mart in Solihull.
Great coming on nicely the 365 is really beginning to take shape nicely. better to find them niggly bits now than later down the line. Carry on regardless. =
Great to see progress on the 356
So excited to watch this. Hope you are able to get the bug for this project again!!!
Great update- Keep them coming! Love to see the work on the 356!

That spot welder is great, but that Tig.... is art.

Well done Dom. Also good to hear about another series of The Repair Shop. I had seem talk of it ending.
As you say, the back end really is starting to take form now and looking marvellous. I must admit I was nervous for you when it was all apart and awaiting the delivery of panels from the states! Well done.

Good work, Dom. Jobs like these always take at least 3x longer than anticipated..
Good to see it coming along.
Nice work Dom! Lots of irons in the fire it seems. Always good to see some Porsche reconstruction vids.
It’s amazing how manual the original build process must’ve been with all those complicated shapes to fit together. I’ve only managed a flat two inch square patch on my own project today so, good progress there!
Have enjoyed your other projects, BUT the Porsche is my favorite , metal forming and body rust repair are my weaknesses.
