I recently got the HGUC kit, and while its a "parts-former" I really like its stability and general "solidness". Its an older kit, but I think it holds up rather well all things considered.
The Zeta's transformation, while an amazing feat of design that most modern gundams could never hope to achieve, is far too complex to try to pull off at such a small scale and as a model kit. It seems like a foolhardy exercise in futility to me. That said, how would the Chogokin Zeta in the same scale stack up considering its heavier material choices such as zinc and glue? I imagine the more primitive engineering would make the end result look worse, but be six billion times more solid and easy.
Kudos to Bandai for being able to make this transformation happen at the 144th scale, however I have to say the bigger scales win in terms of how clean the transformation looks after all is said and done.
Oh dear!!!! I've just bought this kit, I'm waiting for it to be delivered, I can already see myself sweating!!!!!! Can't wait though, this isn't mt first RG, only the first transformable one! Thank you for the really enjoyable video
Been looking at transforming gundms for a custom where the front fold up front like this Wonder if I can put the Gundam X Armor on the frame of zeta and make it work...
since they are moving to seed destiny, it would cool if bandai make a rg murasame since it would have a similar transformation except for the wings but i really doubt it
This was they first attempt to make RG that transforms so I can forgive little hick ups that there are. After all this was nice start and if next onces get even better then there should not be any worries.
Nice review, it seemed quite flimsy from the start but I guess it's a very good try for teh size they went for. Just a question though, between this, the Mg zeta 2.0 or the MG Zeta+ A1, which could be considered the better one?
Definitely had trouble flipping the wings to the underside of this kit and snapping it together when going into waverider mode. I found it much easier to fold out the interior wings first before snapping it together, because then there would be a sort of template for the front skirts and arms to be placed into. But I'm going to assume you realized that during your review, lol
lol, i would know where to shoot if i was fighting the zeta gundam. the small fragile gray connections that connect the wings to the back of the main body.
I decided to transform/re-pose my gundam models, as well as dust and clean them, out of respect for them, along with nostalgia purposes. Then I made the mistake of thinking of transforming my rg zeta gundam. I was so scared of breaking it, I had to come back to this video. I still like it though, even though I can get the front part to snap in.
The parts that gave me the most trouble were definitely the chest and wings. They move in so many ways, it was tough for me to position them properly. The good part, though, is that once i got them clicked into place, it held together better than I was expecting. Unless I try to transform it into the Waverider It won't fall to pieces on me.
Uhm....why not buy the zeta gunpla evolution project instead the HG one...great pose and articulation, pretty neat color seperation despite the huge stickers....and comes with a zaku head(if you watched zz gundam) .... and part seperation for transformation which is easy and a lot cheaper.
you are correct the transformation is not 100% proper, but nice review. i really like the rg zeta im thinking of getting 2nd one but holding out for a different color or wepon version maybe next year MAYBE! the only real problem with the kit is you really need to choose whether you want it in wave rider form or in ms form coz, the integrity of the plastic really degrades fast its not built to be transformed over and over again, i do have also the head action stand really nice addition to the rg
My arm inner frame broke at the connection point when I was folding in the arms. And superglue isn't going to do anything, I guess, since it was literally right at the folding in point... The wings really are one of the best points of the model, with the fact that the whole flipping-out is only on one arm and the connection points into the shield don't need to be flipped out.
I think a Stormtrooper has a better chance of ACTUALLY hitting his target than transforming this thing correctly in the presence of Lord Vader, If Vader was a Gunpla fan.
dunno man I like the gray bits, they give you a reason to do a good job while painting the inner frame and I am sure would look even better once fully detailed.
the kit is cool and all but i wish they made it more secured and alot more stronger and tougher than the previous real grades, i think the high grades and master grade 2.0 got this in its corner in terms of connections and looks as well
At this scale, I honestly think parts-forming is preferable to being a flimsy, cluttered, complicated mess. I think the HG's parts-formation might even be faster...
Y’all never played with a transformer as a kid I’m guessing because this is ez clap compared to the $50 transformers I used to get as a a Christmas gift
just watching this video made me cringe. You really gotta re-read the instructions and follow each step, especially the diagrams indicating the final positioning of the joints to get it to fit right. For example, in order to properly connect the "wings" to the shield at the bottom you need to first extend the wingtips to make room for the arms and skirt armor to fit inside. but yeah, this kit is quite a hand full -__-'
Meme Wanderer if you want a gunpla that can transform without complex transformation, then I recommend you MG Wing Gundam and don't buy Endless Waltz Wing Gundam because Endless Waltz Wing Gundam can't transform.
The problem is that it's hard to make a 1/144 kit sturdy when you're trying to cram Master Grade level complexity to it. The plastic just becomes too thin and weak to really support a complex transformation.
yo rrobbert, about you start talking tranformation in 0.35, you do a wrong site in zeta gundam hand, not turn 90' yet! and something you not locked and something can turn but you not do! ...maybe you recording do fast...... ==;
Everyone: RG Zeta is a hand grenade.
Me, an absolute beginner and Zeta fanboy: *SORE DEMO!*
If RGs could get 2.0s, this one would be the first to get one.
Vladimir Mihnea then they better do Sinanju

To bd fair, 00 has Arios. Sleek af
@@Bahamut8937 the arios has a simpler transformation

Good luck

master grade level? son, this is perfect grade level

Even though most of the parts dont stay together when you transform it it does a really great job with making it not look like a gundam.
was thinking of getting this but still now sure about the real grade yet

It's even getting harder on MG version.
Everything fall apart by its weight.😔
1:20 for Harute and 4:40 for Zeta transformation

We need a metal build version of zeta..... Gunpla are you listening!!!!????
This seems like a kit you buy twice. Once to get it in MS form, and another time to transform and LEAVE.
lol, i would know where to shoot if i was fighting the zeta gundam. the small fragile gray connections that connect the wings to the back of the main body.
from the roughness, I am guessing white gundam marker, and wiping the excess off.

never assembled such a PAINFUL thing .... that transformation is a nightmare...

There should be a zeta 3.0 since they got the ZZ transformation so solid
We got the verka and it was solid
I don't like the transformation, so I bought two instead. One for the MS mode and the other one for the MA mode
So you bought and built two RG Zetas? My complements on your endurance.

Yes! He mentioned Macross!
Woof, I think I'll pass & just keep my RG kit in MS mode & My HG kit in flight mode, this is crazy
it's not yet out yet isnt it?
Watching the transformation hurts my brain
I like the grey showing on the top it makes it look REAL; see what I did there? Great review like always, keep them coming :P.
oh wait, there is no mega launcher in this RG?
plz make a video for each parts of ZT:(((
Safe to say this transformation would never work anywhere but space.
no, it makes it look RIDICULOUS. you need to see the end joke from him to get it
what's the first one?
I can see so much stuff being broken during this transformation.
same problem, mine is the left one
@Ken Chen I'd just use a mega launcher from a HG 1/144 zeta gundam and paint it up RG style
that transformartion is very easy
The MG 2.0's transformation is a pain, but the larger size makes things so much smoother than this
i want this kit soo bad.. just to try transform it perfectly
8:00 I think you forgot to edit that part LOL!

8:03 soo cute~~
I'd say the Real Personal Trooper R-1 is a better transformer.
your degree of sarcasm is very funny (^^,)
I broke the waist while transforming the MG . And broke the arm of the RG
