    The Deutsche post had the same model by, "Sky-Stars" in 2008. This one seems like a nicer Lufthansa livery.

      The Schuco model is made with the same tools of the Sky-Stars model. In the beginning there were some copyright problems with Deutsche Post because this item was limited for 1000 pcs. So Schuco had to modify the original tools. The original Sky-Stars version is a little bit more detailed (position lights, front lights, front landing gear, antennas and the fictive color scheme of the not finished restauration project of the LH Conny).

    It's about time someone came out with a diecast 1/72 scale Lockheed Super "G" Constellation. I understand there's also a KLM version coming out next and I would hope a TWA one isn't too far off in the future. Beautiful model and thanks for sharing!

      Indeed a KLM one is due December and A TWA was planned but on hold for now! Keep an eye open on our instagram page as we may have a little giveaway shortly…

    Regarding the former "Bataan", it was purchased by Lewis Air Legends and reconfigured as a private airplane. It is finished, waiting for better weather for its 1st test flight post-restoration.
    Fantastic channel, thank you for your reviews! I followed you over from Instagram.
    Also you completely sold me on this model! Going to order mine!

    Now the KLM version of Schuco is available.
    Very interesting is also a metal kit of a little manufacturer in Germany. He sells a modificated radar nose and new decals for the Lufthansa version to change from Super to Super Star Constellation.

      The L1649 "Super Star" Constellation also requires an entirely different main wing.

    Nice review. Just ordered the KLM. Unfortunately Schuco left off KLM on the upper and lower wings. Luckily I have some KLM 1:72 decals from F-DCAL and will be adding to the model. It will compliment my 1:72 Atlantic Models KLM Super G with radome nose.

    Just got my Schuco, Lufthansa, Super Constellation model today here in the U.S. A great 1/72 scale model and well worth the money. About the only issue I find with it is that the dihedral of the main wings is a bit too straight and some of the props on my model were bent slightly forward or backward. Otherwise, terrific markings, very good Super Connie dimensions and details and nice having the landing gear option. Speaking of landing gear, do you think it's safe to display this somewhat heavy model on its undercarriage?

      @diecastwingscollectors  Год назад +2

      Absolutely! Possibly the strongest undercarriage on a Diecast model for me but also equally safe on the stand

    Any hope of a QANTAS version?

      I think they only used the king nosed version - I hope schuco have tooled this

      @@diecastwingscollectors All the major airlines that operated Super Connies had the early non weather radar round nose versions. ( L1049C and early L1049E deliverys ) The weather radar option came with the later G and H model.

      A further point. Lufthansa Super Connie’s used Hamilton Standard Propellers, which had rounded blade tips. The props on the example presented in the video are correct. KLM Super Connie’s were fitted with Curtiss Electric Propellers, which had square blade tips, very similar to the propeller blade tips on Pam American and BOAC Boeing Stratocruisers and BOAC Bristol Britannia’s. It will be interesting to see if the props on Shuco’s upcoming KLM Super Connie are accurate in that sense, or whether they just release a re-decaled version of the Lufthansa model. 🤔
