G-Shock GA-B2100 "CasiOak" Metal Conversion "Mod"

- There are lots of conversion kits for GA-2100 watches and other variations of the wildly popular “CasiOak” watches. Be careful to assure that the kit you buy will be compatible with your specific version of the CasiOak. I found a kit which was compatible with the GA-B2100 which I converted. This is the item I bought. a.co/d/eqblsSN
I chose a Custom Oaks kit because the price was attractive and because I preferred the overall look. Some metal versions include a false crown on the right side of the case and I didn’t want that.
I decided that this conversion was preferable to other ready-made options from Casio with metal bezels and bracelets. Why? Because right now there are no metal “CasiOak” watches available with positive LCD windows. Even if I decided to buy the negative LCD (or “reverse LCD”) offerings direct from Casio I could have to pay $400 or more for them. Instead, I found a deal on the black GA-B2100 for just $99 and I bought the Custom Oaks conversion kit for an additional $109. Not bad.
The conversion work itself was quite simple and the kit I bought even came with two screwdrivers to help me complete the task. It was very easy to remove the watch’s original resin band thanks to quick-release springbars which are standard on these versions. I merely had to remove four small screws before I could easily remove the original resin bezel. After that, all I needed to do was press the module into place on the metal kit and use four of the provided, tiny screws to secure it.
After I had the watch module secured in the new, metal enclosure, I used the provided, tiny screwdriver to remove one link from the bracelet. The watch now fits my seven-and-a-half-inch wrist pretty well. It looks fantastic. The functions, including Bluetooth connectivity, are working perfectly and, of course, the watch case now looks remarkably similar to the cases of authentic Royal Oak watches.
That looks pretty fantastic. I'm surprised how many commenters don't care for it.
I just pulled the trigger on a GA-B2100BNR1A Ignite Red. And ordered an all black metal mod kit from SKX. Really looking forward to it. This is my first Casioak and it’s gonna pop with that red on black color scheme. Thanks for these videos, Greg. I really enjoy your content. Expecting my AWG-M100A-1ACR today. I’m leaning towards a composite knockoff Casio bracelet for that one. Looking to get the 2024 GW-2320FP Fire Package next. Really diggin’ these Tough Solar G-Shocks and some of their designs. These metal mod kits make these pseudo metal G’s obtainable and it’s fun modding these watches. With SKX, you can design and come up with your own unique watch.
Without doubt these kits offer excellent value. Thanks, Greg.
skx gen 6 blow these dookie mods out the water no joke
I've done this mod with the black metal version, looks so dope I absolutely love it.
I wasn't planning on modifying mine but this stainless look is fire.
Good video buddy, yknow I am frankly amazed that nobody yet has not made a metal case like that but with a sapphire glass in place (replaceable obviously), all it needs is to be slight deeper to accommodate the module plus the sapphire glass on top.
I bought the black GA-B2100 at that price too.
Also thinking of doing the mod though with a black metal band..
So thanks.
I’ve done two of these metal mods already. In my experience, this mod does not affect the Bluetooth functionality at all. I bought a cheaper metal bezel & bracelet from Amazon for $79.00. For my GA B2100BNR Indigo Red, I spent a little more for the SKXMOD Kit which is of much better quality. The SKX kit looks classier in my opinion and goes together more nicely. But I digress, the metal mod doesn’t affect the Bluetooth function at all. So no worries there. Happy modding! 🙂
I'm a simple man. I see a Greg Anderson video, I like and subscribe.
Casio recommends that you turn the tiny screws backward a few turns to get the screw to drop in the threads correctly.
Is there any difference between a GA2100 1aer and a GA2100 1a1er? And does a mod for the 1aer fit for the 1a1er too?
Wow! You did it. That was the knee-jerk reaction. Now it's time to watch the video.
I recently did a Caution Yellow (GA-B2100CY ) ìin a black case, love the original Casio look but I don't do plastic or resin or whatever. I did consider the GM-B2100 but it's very shiny and I prefer the Caution Yellow dial (would have preferred a positive digital display) I still might get one and apply a brushed finish, but for now I'm enjoying the black stainless Caution Yellow.
Bella mod. Complimenti per turri tuoi orologi e la passione che ci metti. Continua coai
Looks good. The only thing Im afraid is that some of those kits are not stainless steel. I’ve seen a couple of photos where this bracelet started to rust.
Where’d you see the pictures?
Great review Greg...most helpful...
Nice, pls let us know if the steel has any interference w reception.
Looks pretty great. It turned out very nice. The rose gold modification would be to my taste if I was ever to try this. Seeing how easy this mod was to complete would help me into doing this in the future. Have been looking at doing this. Great video.
i wish these cases had text on the bezel instead of those naff fake screws
This watch looks great, and what about the shock resistant?
Its normal to see many watch around there…
But its weird to see someone wear watches on both arms….😂
Good demonstration anyway.😮
I like it but I think the weight difference goes against the concept of the watch. For that reason I wouldn't do it.
You did install it upside down. The male end of the clap (the square) goes on top
What do u mean by a positive LCD that Casio doesn't offer for the moment? Tnx
Hi Greg my son is a big fan
His name is Thomas and he watches every video about 10 times
a bit much ey@@aidanrc46
It's not a gshock anymore unless you tell them its a gshock. If you want the AP royale oak style, there are lots of branded and chinese homages similar to the royale oak.
with original black case much much better
Great looking mod well done 👍
I’ve got the silver all metal casioak and while it’s really nice, I’m not sure it’s $500 nice (I paid about $450). I guess they justify it by it being made in Japan with better fit and finish plus the screw down case back but for the price it should’ve had sapphire glass instead of mineral crystal. Not sure I would purchase it again if I had the chance. I think what you did by making an all metal yourself is a far better value.
@borregoayudando1481 lmao as if people drop watches all the time
i have NEVER EVER dropped a watch
@borregoayudando1481 LMAO I DONT KNOW HOW YOU LIVE BUT MY WATCHES TOUCHES NOTHING BUT AIR AND MY WRIST
I HAVE G SHOCKS BECAUSE OF THE LOOKS LIKE GMT B3000D GST400 GM2100
NOT BECAUSE FOR PROTECTION SINCE MY WATCHES TOUCHES NOTHING BUT AIR AND MY WRIST AND MY OTHER HAND THAT PUTS ON THE WATCH
@borregoayudando1481 I KNOW
@@qachingMaybe not but the main point of a G-shock, as the name suggests, is its shock resistance.
I bet your all metal watch looks better than this mod
Hmm, personally not too much a fan of the final result, but I do remember seeing some black colored cases that you can get if you would want it again
hi! just wondering will the Ga2100 mod kit fit the GAB2100 ? because I heard the GAB2100 is thicker?
No it wont fit.
Great video, sir. If you can explain something in a way that even I understand it, you're doing a great job. Do u know if the metal band is also available in black or gunmetal?
Yes.saw a black version on aliexpres
How is the pusher access? I watched the whole video but you didn’t mention that.
Can you please tell me if Custom Oaks has a website because I can't find them on Amazon UK.
Guys for the tough solar, if we change the watch dial face the solar function wouldn't work right?
Yeah, you are correct. If you change the dial on the tough solar version, you would lose the solar power function.
Ok here's my Honest opinion "your wrists are huge" !!
I'd rather hear you than the ticking clock, informative video though. Thank you!
I'm confused should I buy steel or plastic? Please some one suggest 🙏🏽
Today you can buy a metal CasiOak without having to do a modification like this, but it will cost a lot. I find that I like both versions but I guess I'd start with the plastic version just to be sure I like it.
i know its sounds weird but
i have gst-b500 it is already stainless steel but i want to change the bezel into the black one
the question is, does it similar to ga-b2100 or it is completely different watch?
can you fit gst-b500 into this bezel?
Hi,
What is the total weight of the watch after this process?
Does this make the watch bigger?
Weight before and after?
Does it affect the shock resistance capability?
What I meant is, is the resin part imbedded in the original casing or is it part of/inside the main watch module?
Can you change the hand colors on the GAB2100?
Pour avoir fait ce mod, le problème est le réglage à taille du bracelet, très inconfortable, pas de réglages fins.
Anyone know what generation this is? Or how to tell the different generations?
why do you have to make the strap that tight? It's not a leather strap. Bracelets are meant to be loose.
Agree on that. 1 thumb under bracelet rule
I’m not a big CasiOak fan, but you do you.😉
What is the make of ya mod strap so I know it fits my ga-b2100
SKX MODS ARE THE BEST
how about its water resistance after the change..
I never did anything to disturb the screws holding the back of the case to the case. There should be no change to the water resistance.
is there a way to get extra links for it?
very good
Does this mod still ensure the watch is waterproof?
I didn’t do anything to open the case or affect the seal on the back of the case, so I expect no change whatsoever in water resistance.
Can you do a face change?😊
I HAVE THE GM 2100
BUT IM BUYING A MOTHER FUCKING GA 2100 FORGOTTEN FUTURE EDITION
AND MODDING IT WITH OAK MOD WITH WHITE STRAP
Audemars peauge Royal oak.
Definitely prefer Casios original design in metal, that one just looks a bit tacky, just trying to make it look like something its clearly not, its just not that great an idea for a G-Shock, it just looks WRONG.
Yea it just doesn't work especially with the positive lcd there
The Bluetooth variant at least has a sunburst effect on the dial but it's too little on the case
The GM-2100 (with metal bezel and resin strap) costs the same as this aftermarket setup seen in the video but still retains the original inscribed G-shock etc writing on the metal bezel. With so many colour options from Casio and comparable pricing to the mod kits I’m hard pressed to find the benefit of these alterations. It is fun to take stuff apart and put it back together again, I’ll give You that. Perhaps Casio should release watches that need assembly by the user. 🤔
@DanRC69 facts 💯👊🎯
Idk I have both the gm2100 full metal and the gab2100 with the 4 gen custom oak mod and I’ve definitely prefer the mod strap over the gm2100 just on feel and finish and definitely get wtf where did you get that with the mod and it clearly still says g shock it’s clearly a homage piece not a try to be replica just my opinion
@@zacharyearlly3375I have tried the gm2100 metal and it is quite light compare to my seiko, what about the mod is it heavy or just the same? What about the wr and warranty is it void because of mod?
