Exactly 50 years ago this fall, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, on Friday, October 13, a new chapter begins. From Blumhouse and director David Gordon Green, who shattered the status quo with their resurrection of the Halloween franchise, comes The Exorcist: Believer.
Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.
But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia Marcum), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
For the first time since the 1973 film, Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.
The film also stars Emmy winner Ann Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale, Hereditary) as Victor and Angela’s neighbor, and Grammy winner Jennifer Nettles (Harriet, The Righteous Gemstones) and two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz (Fosse/Verdon, Bloodline) as the parents of Katherine, Angela’s friend.
When The Exorcist, based on the best-selling book by William Peter Blatty, was released, it changed the culture forever, obliterating box office records and earning 10 Academy Award® nominations, becoming the first horror film ever nominated for Best Picture.
The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay by Peter Sattler (Camp X-Ray) and David Gordon Green, from a story by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills), Danny McBride (Halloween trilogy) and David Gordon Green, based on characters created by William Peter Blatty.
The film is produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse and by David Robinson (All Eyez on Me, 2016 series The Exorcist) and James G. Robinson (All Eyez on Me, 2016 series The Exorcist) for Morgan Creek Entertainment.
The executive producers are Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, Stephanie Allain, Ryan Turek and Atilla Yücer. Universal Pictures presents a Blumhouse/Morgan Creek Entertainment production in association with Rough House Pictures.
The tubular bells theme is what made the The Exorcist (1973) a timeless classic. Hearing it now in this trailer gives you chills and also a joy since it brings back all the memories
The Exorcist is my favorite horror film and novel. I see a lot of recycled ideas, but I’ll watch it for Chris MacNeil (Ellen Burstyn)! 🖤☮️
Looks like a typical jump scare horror to me. Very few genuinely good and imaginative horror films have been made in the last 20 years. The first Conjuring Film to be released and The Babadook were pretty good.
They really need to stop rehashing old ideas there is a reason why the original is a classic because it was original and something noone had seen before
Seeing this just for Ellen Burstyn.
The Devil is Deff in Hollywoof look at all the movies they made him recently! Really consiring!
@1:45 Linda Blair as Sarah Travers in SARAH T. -- PORTRAIT OF A TEENAGE ALCOHOLIC
Unbelievable
1:46 bgm looks like Death Note (Anime)
Whats with the subtitles 🤷♂️
Posessed by demon can not be enter into church.
Please don't dissapoint us like Evil Dead. Evil dead trailer was awesome but just traier.
Make up wow
Looks terrible.
This movie was so fucking terrible. Everybody in the audience was laughing. When I tell you people were hollering and laughing their asses off. What the fuck kind of a horror movie makes people laugh
Chris Macneil is the mother from Exorcist 1 (1973)
We need a second movie with Linda Blair
You can’t beat a classic no matter how good they make this it’ll never be as good it’s impossible
Classic is masterpiece
Agreed. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
What a dumb way to think
But this is not a remake so maybe this one deserves a chance
Dont be such a nostalgic pessimist
The Exorcist is one of my favorite horror movie's of all time hope they don't mess it up with this sequel
it is..but i already know that they messed up this sequel without a shadow of a doubt
I've seen a few exorcisms growing up in church and let me tell you something, it is beyond frightening, beyond scary and something that once you witness it in person, you will never ever forget it.
Yeah ok
It's not safe to witness exorcisms the demons always looking for a skin to enter
You mean you witnessee people with severe mental illness. If demon possession were real they would possess presidents and nuke the planet
@@laidosw8
Sure they do 😂😂😂
What church? If it wasn’t orthodox or catholic it was bullshit
This looks and feels like the original but modern. Love it. Can't wait to see it and hope it's a good sequel
It's gonna be beyond your expectations! Wait's gonna be worth.
doesn't feel like the original at all. get real.
This movie is gonna tank, people these days don't do research enough before making these movies
all of the recent Exorcist films have lol
Oh my god. The minute I saw Ellen Burstyn, I literally gasped! Oh shit this is gonna be intense.
And just in time for the 50th anniversary of the original, too.
Looks like this will be a horrible movie…
Here for the tubular bells ❤
Looks generic. The original film was groundbreaking, a deep movie about faith and science. With an excellent screenplay and truly good actors. I'm sick of sequels and remakes tbh.
The theme! It feels too good to hear the theme again on mainstream film. I loved the first movie, never saw the sequels to it though. Hope this is good, just like the recent Evil Dead movie...
PS - The theme of the original was copied as background theme for Bollywood movie, Gupt, starring Bobby Deol! 😅
The original Exorcist is to this day my favorite movie of all time. I can already tell this is going to be a lazy cash grab attempt packed with lazy-ass jump scares and cheap shock value. The original was an absolute classic partly because of its ability to create a terrifying and heavy atmosphere the lasted throughout the entire movie (and even after). This looks like generic modern Hollywood horror, with the now-compulsory nostalgia-bait.
Don’t get me wrong this movie looks great!!, but I think the original will always be the O.G.!!
I was in 7th grade, in catholic school, I read the book-(my mother would've freaked if she knew) mysister wasa senior in high school. I shouldn't have gone to see it. It wrecked me for years. Well a year. Now I think the movie is brilliant... and its still scary but scary in a way that is enjoyable AND creepy AF! I'll wait to hear what the repsonse/word of mouth is... b4 I spend $20 bucks on it....
Oh my god, I don't know what it is that makes everyone think this film is so bad! this movie was really good!!! people totally exaggerate!... just because they most likely always compare with the original.
Of course nothing comes close to the original exorcist film!!! never ever!
When I think about the exorcist films of the last few years, this one was gold in comparison! the sound of the voices of the demons, the behavior of the demons etc. .
judge a little more objectively! Jesus Christ!
OMG, this looks so good. I’m desperate for this one
Can't relate moreee!
Hello guys...! I am Ashoka. I am Sri Lankan. I watched this movie today at the New Imperial Cinema in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. A really scary movie.
Only a priest can perform an exorcism. Other than that, Looks like an average jump scare movie.
They're never going to able to create the horror the original Excorcist did. Let's hope I'm wrong
The tubular bells...❤..
The same tune was copied in hindi movie Gupt.
I just feel like they showed every good part in the trailer so when we go see the movie it’s not going to do what it is supposed to do.
The THEME BGM is from the Bollywood movie GUPT.... 😮
*Very Scared*
Ummmm so ….I uhhhh love horror movies but this one right here I’m going to have to think about this.
Please dub in Hindi
test screening wasn't good in this one, may be an epic fail.
We need to see Linda Blair in a sequel
Funny. Even Lucifer can't beat jesus come on 😂
Hello guys...! I am Ashoka. I am Sri Lankan. I watched this movie today at the New Imperial Cinema in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka. A really scary movie.
Como se nota que este guion lo escribió una IA.
THIS SCRIPT IS WRITING BY IA. LAURIE VS MICHAEL, CRIS VS PAZUZU ... THIS WOMAN IS A MOTHER FROM A POSSESED GIRL, WHAT YOU GONNA KNOW FROM A EXORCIST IF YOU ONLY HEAR MERRIN AND CARRASH DOING IT... SORRY BUT IS A EPIC IA SCRIPT
Horror movie 🎥😮😮
I have goosebumps if the movie is half as good as the trailer WoW WoW and WoW again , love the tubler bells hint ans then Boom Megan’s mother from the Orginal Exorcist 🤴🏽 I’m sold , if it’s as good as the trailer go do the omen however remember the omens soundtrack
Can't wait for this movie. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
ok now let us all see if Blumhouse screws this movie up and that is why Wes Craven Estate hasn't let Blumhouse make the new nightmare on elm street yet (since they got the rights to it back). i think Jason blum is loosing his sight on making a true horror movie from start to finish, don't get me wrong he does good up until the halfway mark of a movie then after it goes to crap.
Mmm no, not for me. It looks very generic. The real art behind the original exorcist, is that sense of realism that William Friedkin brought.
Anyway, we will see
When I watched the original exorcist I made the mistake of not paying attention to the movie's title, "The Exorcist" not "The Exorcised" the girl was a sideshow distraction. I watched it again and payed more attention to the ones performing the exorcism and I got a deeper understanding of what the movie was about. I will do the same with this one. I am wondering if they will start this one with the adhan and end it with the adhan like the original. I found it interesting that in the original exorcist at the beginning when the words "The Exorcist" came up on the screen the adhan started. I wonder if William Peter Blatty was trying to tell us who the real exorcist is, the one who can truly destroy evil demons.
Meh, considering what David Gordon Green ended up doing with Halloween I’ll probably just give this a miss until I’m told otherwise.
I wont watch this in cinema 😂
What would make this movie perfect is it they did colour then it jumped to black and white like in the bit where they are in the chair. With seriously demonic screams.
That would put fear of God in most if they actually did it just like this clip
cannot wait to see. i remember when i saw the exorcist i couldn't sleep for days. I hope this would not disappoint me.
STUPID MOVIE GONNA MESS UP THE CLASSIC, ONCE THERESA MENTIONS THEY ARE GOING TO NEED ALL RITUALS OF EXORCISM I LOST INTEREST, ITS NOT LIKE THE REAL THING.
Cant wait exorcism of emily rose gave me and my husband nightmares for 2 week's!
yawn. Another generic-looking exorcism movie.....all the same....little girl or woman starts to act strange and then throws random tantrums. Practically every exorcism movie could be summed up in one or two sentences. Not scary whatsoever.
Meh
Flogging a dead horse again looks like someone's pension needs topping up!!
Yeah more Evil Dead feel than exorcist.
So excited
Yet another new movie I WONT go see
Oh my god...Can't wait to see it and hope it's a good sequel....
Ancyuuur
Waiting for this from long time 😍

this is madness this is SOOO fucking good and I'm soooooooooooo going to watch this.
Booooooooooooo (not the spooky boo either)
Se ve bien culero y estoy siendo sincero
Please that this movie be good
What made the first one good is that it took place in one location. Felt isolated. This one already fails by having them carted about to different places
Con Ellen Burstyn será genial ver esta película 😎✨ y más con la música original ya está completa.
it's ah nahhh for me
Wow I love the trailer, will watch this of course
Fuck Yeah We back..!!!!

😳😈😵💫🥶👍🏻👍🏻
It's just a tease, wait till you watch the movie.
Lol the original is still scary than this
they shouldn't have two girls possessed. it adds too much, keep it should of stayed focused on one girl. also i doubt it's going to be as scary as the original, just another soft remake to another amazing movie.
😅
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Ohmg😮
Wow
Release Oppenheimer in Tamil and Telugu
Can't wait! 👿
It's gonna be worth the watch!
Can't wait for this 😯those who are excited they like this comment??
