So far, I've cooked your Creamy Coconut Rice with Spiced Chickpeas and this dish (Chana Masala), and my mom and I sat and enjoyed it, and we kept saying out loud that we couldn't believe (a) that we cooked Chana Masala, and (b) that it tastes as amazing as it does, and (c) that we're eating vegan meals ... and loving them! You are positively impacting my life and health with incredible food and flavors, and I can't even tell you how much I appreciate it. Thank you, Andrew, for this channel and for your incredibly delicious recipes.
Well done 👍 one feedback, if you are adding high amount of dry spices in your recipe make sure you cook it well in oil before you add water to make gravy. Raw spices are difficult to digest hence need to be careful with the quantity. Alternatively we sometimes add water to the spicemix to make a thick paste before adding to the pan for cooking that ensures it doesn't get burnt.
I took some chickpeas out of my freezer yesterday thinking I would make some hummus for the week. But now I have ended up with a delicious pot of chana masala. You are very powerful, Andrew!
I myself am neither Vegan nor Vegetarian but a friend of mine recently turned to a vegan diet and I will definitely recommend your channel to her. I like the way you cook and bring a very big calm into your videos. Best wishes from Germany
I made this and your butter cauliflower curry and both of them are absolutely amazing and filling 🙌 you’re the reason I have garam masala and turmeric lol I’m not vegan by any stretch but I’ve been trying to save money by not buying meat and instead investing in better quality ingredients. Thank you for helping me try something new :)
Really love the way you structured the video. The cuts, timing, audio balance, and honestly everything was very well done. I don't subscribe to a single cooking channel but this video changed that. Chana masala is my vegan wife's favorite dish of all time, thank you for allowing me to give that experience to her. Cheers!
2nd recipe I've tried off your channel. I made this for my family, and it was an instant hit! Appreciate you helping nourish the soul through your passion for cooking! 🙏
Oh my! Made this for dinner this evening because my pantry had virtually all the ingredients except the Garam Masala which I promptly located in the local grocery store. What a wow meal! Even the carnivores devoured it 😊 Many thanks for sharing.
Been watching several of your videos now looking for ideas and wanted to share a cooking tip that will save you some effort. When using garlic cloves, after you pop them open with your knife blade, place them in a bowl (small plastic one works best) and place another on top so you create a dome or ball with the two bowls. Shake vigorously and the garlic cloves will peel themselves.
I just made this dish at home at it is FAMNTASTIC! My place smlls.like a restaurant. The aroma and flavor is outstanding. Love the benefits. Thank you. 💯
My mate, of Indian decent, recommends slightly smashing the chickpeas before adding. Increases the surface area for the sauce to stick to....greetings from Australia.
Oh how I like a nice chickpea recipe that's 🤌🏾 & thanks for being entertaining (that lil whisk I tell Ya) while preparing the meal Andrew 😂 Be Blessed 🙏🏾 😇
Nard Dog, made this last night, cooked and danced around the kitchen to Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come soundtrack, which fit the overall vibe. Very happy with the way it came out, Followed your recipe pretty closely, few substitutions here and there - fresh lime instead of lemon (made it pop!), some dried chili peppers from the garden, subsituted dried tomatoes from the garden for canned. Really happy with the way it came out, fan of your work & channel. Salut!
I’m glad you showed up in my algorithm! This was the first recipe of yours that I made and it already has my wife thinking about going vegan! Subscribed!
Been making a simpler and similar recipe to this using coconut milk instead. And I've been using split peas instead of chickpeas. Just something about garam masala and the lime/citrus combo that goes so well. One thing I hadn't considered was the bay leaf, definitely going to incorporate that.
Sitting here prepping to make Green Thai Pork Curry and this hits my RUclips feed. Think I will be definitely giving this a crack when my partner is next away. Have never made a veg curry before, but, a friend's partner once did a dinner party for six, and being vegetarian himself made a mix of veg based Indian style curries. Honestly as a meat eater, I didn't miss the meat at all and it was a night long remembered.
super late with the reply but I made it! Was lovely! I was eating it in with some friends for lunch, shared it with a friend and she LOVED it too!! Gave her whatever I had leftover :) This was my second venture into trying dishes with chickpeas and I'm so glad it was worth it! @@thenarddogcooks
Made this today. This was amazing. Im trying to transition to vegan(my wife and I). I said if all your dishes taste like this, it might not be that hard.
Goodmorning andrew another delicious looking 😋 meal going to take a short walk then to the store to get the chickpeas and lemon I love gravy 😋 I will be smoothing it out but hopefully in a few weeks I won't have to blend everything 😊🎉have a wonderful Sunday ❤🎉😊
Great recipe, just made it and i got to say at first i was not convinced and already regreted making a big pot of it, but the more i ate it the tastier it got and in the end i went for seconds
Love the way you present your videos. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but love to try new dishes and eat healthy without meat. I'll give this a try and hope my family doesn't complaint because of the many spices (I personally love them, but never tried kasuri methi or garam masala).
Kasuri methi = dehydrated fenugreek leaves, so it’s just another herb and not spicy - adds to the aroma Garam masala - blend of warming spices i.e. cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, anise, mace, cardamom.
Brother, you can make so many different Indian dishes that are vegan and high in protein. For example, you can make Chilas (protein pancakes/wraps), Dal/Lentil based Idlis and Dosas, Besan Vadas(donuts), and numerous Paneer recipes. Indian cuisine is hard to beat when it comes to veg/vegan foods.
Always look forward to your content! At this point I'm convinced the little whisk needs to be put on a lanyard and placed around your neck at the beginning of every recipe so it doesn't get misplaced 😂
Good morning, Nard Dog. How are you this morning. I have a two. question? Question number 1). About that million knife that no one can touch but you. And you mom can only wash it and be careful how you lay it down. Must be flat. How often do you sharpen it? Question 2) When are you going to bring your mom come on the show and let us see we’re all that talent comes from and good looks. Because your and your skin is flawless. Any tips you can share or is it just in your genes. Thanks in advance for your response. 😊❤
😂 That million dollar knife is actually only about 60 buck when i got it on sale but still not priced too bad for its amazing quality. I sharpen it about bi weekly unless i have a ton of heavy cooking then weekly. As for mom, she is well come whenever. But she's pretty camera shy when it comes to recording. i know you cant tell since she isnt when it comes to taking selfies 😅❤️
Thanks for your timely response to my question. Wow $60. Sounds like you got a great deal. And your getting your money’s worth and more. You sure are right about the the selfies. But she might surprise you one day and show up. Lol. I really loves your recipes. Keep up the good work. ❤️
I buy this packet for chana masala and its delicious but it has some chemical non foods in it that make it so I can't have more than one bowl at a time. Gonna make this one next time, thanks!!
Adorei!!!!❤
New to your channel, I like your style, I will make this recipe as you make it and will give you mu opinion, because I am anglo indian( british/indian)❤
this looks wonderful thank you! i am wondering if you could make a high iron and/or a low fodmap one pan meal sometimes? thank you for all your wonderful content!
The cashew butter was an interesting addition. That is not traditional. I take a bit of the chickpeas and blend them to add some creaminess to the stew.
What a whitty whisk! Always wants to be on the table. I laughed a lot. Thanks for including my question in your video. And I’m jelous: You can buy fire roasted tomatoes in a can? I’ve never seen them in my country. I prefer canned tomatoes is such recipes too.
Btw this Chana Masala recipe is not also my chickpea curry recipe 😅 totally different
We Mainly Use This Recipe In India For Chapatti Or Poori It's Damn Good Brother

I saw the video and he did that
Also spices are fat soluble so fats like oil just bring out the flavours so much more
I took some chickpeas out of my freezer yesterday thinking I would make some hummus for the week. But now I have ended up with a delicious pot of chana masala. You are very powerful, Andrew!
😍 thats amazing!!! 🤗❤️
Love the presentation as always. The ongoing misadventures of the little whisk 😂
Always! 😂

Enjoyed this presentation style, easy to follow - the wee tune was cool too 🙂

Looks great 👍
Looks soooo good!
Made this today, mmmmm, so delicious!
For a jamaican guy he sure can cook that chana masala better than most indians.
Some of our dishes are Imdian influenced
I think he does have Indian in his blood line. 😊
Love your RUclips channel. Very calming and wonderful recipes. 💜
You have me pursuing the vegan 🌱 idea. It’s been on my mind but I finally arrived. Making this dish on Thursday. ❤
Made it. It's delicious. Thank you!

I love saucy vs drier chana masala. Will try this great looking recipe! Thanks so much. 🔥❤️

Looks amazing... Would peanut butter be weird in this?
You make everything look easy. Open a restaurant, mail order meals😊 I didn't see ordering options with your merch. Ha ha
Lord have mercy
This looks amazing 😊
Ooooh, imma be making this one tonight 🤤
Hope you enjoy!! 🙌🏾
I think I found what I'm taking to family Thanksgiving...
😍 would be perfect!
this looks wonderful thank you! i am wondering if you could make a high iron and/or a low fodmap one pan meal sometimes? thank you for all your wonderful content!
Thanks for sharing! Ill keep in mind for future content!
i made a budget friendly version without cilanto and with peanut-butter instead of cashew-butter, was wonderful nonetheless, thank you!
Is it the same recipe if i wanna add beef? Thanks ☺️
@thenarddogcooks Where do you go grocery shopping, all the ingredients look FRESH
Can I use peanut butter instead of cashew butter? (I found that you can use peanut butter in the website of the recipes)
'Nuff niceness there, Nardo! Absolutely one of my favorite Indian dishes I enjoy. If subbing with coconut milk, how much of it do you recommend?
Sir, what do you do with the leftover tomatoe paste?
The baby whisk steals the show! 😂
The cashew butter was an interesting addition. That is not traditional. I take a bit of the chickpeas and blend them to add some creaminess to the stew.
Can I substitute Cilantro for Parsley?
What a whitty whisk! Always wants to be on the table. I laughed a lot. Thanks for including my question in your video.
And I’m jelous: You can buy fire roasted tomatoes in a can? I’ve never seen them in my country. I prefer canned tomatoes is such recipes too.
❤❤❤❤❤😊
how well u took all the skin from each chickpeas
howd u do that ???
Appreciate the slow paced video... everyone just does quick edits and boff bam boom...
That beard looks great...is that clip on?!😅
Give this post a thumbs up if you think Andrew's beard should have it's own RUclips channel.
😂
Great upload but for some others tomatoes is inflammatory for those of us with rheumatoid arthritis
