I used her recipe as a starting point and modified to a larger batch based on what I already had on hand, and since this is the first time I've made this, I'm quite impressed! This really is so delicious straight from the oven!! Even my toddler loved it!! Ingredients: • 2 cups old fashioned oats • 1 cup berries (I had about 1/4 c blueberry and 3/4 chopped strawberries from the fridge so that's what I used) • 3 speckled bananas, mashed • 1 scant cup raisins • 1/2 cup pecans • 3 tsp cinnamon • 1/2 raw honey Instructions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350°F 2. Place the oats in a mixing bowl and cover with hot water, just enough so the top is barely covered, and soak for 10 minutes 3. While the oats are soaking, gather/prepare remaining ingredients 4. Once the oats have soaked, add in the remaining ingredients, stir until evenly combined 5. Pour into a 2.5 qt baking/casserole dish 6. Bake for 30 mins or until moisture appears absorbed at the edges. This made more of a sticky oatmeal consistency, but if you prefer it more runny, simply pour some milk over your serving in a bowl, stir, and enjoy! Also, this yielded roughly 6-ish 1-cup servings cooked.
Sarah Anding thank you! This is just what I needed to make this for brunch with my sister and her family! I appreciate you working this out very much 😊
I tried this this morning and Oh My I don’t think I’ve ever felt more warm and cosy from within before this is the best breakfast for a cold morning and it is SO DELICIOUS best breakfast I’ve ever had!!!
Wow everything about this from it being posted on a Sunday to the music, the visual, the actual recipe is so beautiful! I must try baked oats. My personal choice is porridge cooked in the hob with fresh blueberries thrown in half way so they warm up and burst. When serving in a bowl I add on dark chocolate chunks... heaven! It’s my go to in winter and so quick and doable for weekday mornings.
I just did this and I don't know if it's because I had higher expectations thanks to the lovely aesthetics of this video, but it didn't came out neither as pretty nor as good. I would like to give it a second try tho, by leaving out the soaking part. That way it would come out more crunchy, kind of a Granola that I can pour milk in at the end... :D // Pro tip: toast those walnuts before putting them into the mix. Makes a difference!
This recipe reminds me of when my boys were little and we'd make baked oats. It wasn't this fancy but it was delicious and we made wonderful memories together! I'd love to make this when they'd come to visit in the winter in the future. Thank you for sharing your creativity and sharing your positive, beautiful soul! I love your soft spoken voice and your calming, happy spirit. Your teachings of a vegan lifestyle are very comforting. 💗
Such a delicious oatmeal recipe! Made it instantly after watching the video. New breakfast favourite. Halved the amount of syrup and added honey instead - still had plenty of sweetness. Switched out the dates for dried cranberries too.
I used to make this family favorite back when I was still carni. I can't wait to try this plants only version. I'll leave out the nuts and seeds plus use diced apple and the zest and juice of an orange in place of raisins and maple syrup. Oh, I can't wait.
I do use Ella's recipe. I replace the mashed bananas with apple sauce (about 3/4 cup) and the blueberries and raisins with chopped peaches and I add 1 cup dessicated coconut. Voila!
I assume so. After all it's just soaked oats and fruit. Iveade a.double batch this morning and will put other half I. The fridge for tomorrow morning xx
yes but it will harden a bit. when u reheat wet some microwave safe baking paper ( scrunch into a ball and wet under tome water : shake off excess water) then nuke thhe oats till hot
Omg I have just made this and it’s completely out of this world delicious!! Thank you so much Ella for yet again another wonderful recipe. I used crushed almonds instead of walnunts as I didn’t have any and hazelnut milk as well as I didn’t have almond milk and I just wanted to make it right now lol 😍
I've never tried baked oatmeal but really looking forward to giving it a whirl, all of your recipes always turn out amazing so I'm sure this one is as well! xx
Are the measurements listed in the description box to serve one person? Or two or the whole dish that you have in the video? Thanks :) looks delicious!
Hun, I had no idea you had a youtube channel and I've listened to your podcast for a couple of months now! Maybe you should mention it once in a while, because it's a gem!
Just wanted to add that I made this recipe and it was delicious! The only change I made is that I added another ~1/2 cup of oats and it turned out perfectly. Thank you!
Do you think it’s necessary to soak the oats first? Can’t they be softened while they bake (esp if you were to add more almond milk)? Just curious... ☺️
I think Ella said she was making extra at the start of her video..I normally use 40g Oats when I make my normal bowl of Porridge so I think the recipe has definitely been adjusted for a smaller amount xx
I'd adjust the amount or quite often save half There's very rarely any recipes for us singletons 😁😂🤣I don't use as much maple or other sweet stuff either. I'd look like a barrage balloon!!! Xx
I've just made my own version of this. I have one of those measuring spoons and I put 4 tbsp in a saucepan..covered with Almond milk adjust to suit..Added some frozen banana slices and soaked over night. I've just cooked it all till thick and for the last few minutes added blueberries and topped with walnuts..Adddd a dollop of Greek Yoghurt on top and tbh it's really sweet enough for me without maple but I put a tiny drizzle of Hilltop Raw Honey on top as it's so good for you..Oh and sprinkled a few walnuts on top..Haven't baked it in the oven tho. I would maybe do that if I had more time xx
The written recipe does not specify jumbo oats. I made the recipe with regular oats. It was tasty but super flat, next time I will double the oatmeal. Can't get Jumbo oats here in the US.
That can't be 50g of oats! I'm making it now and I had to double the portions, 40g or oats is basically one portion so how can be that baking dish only 50g? :/ I'm confused :((
Yeah but who's making a portion that small in all honesty? Ahah it's like one serving she should have gave the recipe like she did in the video I think :) just my opinion!
Noemi Vegan the recipe in the description will serve 1-2 people, surely that will be big enough of a portion for one person? I know we all eat different amounts but damn you must have a monster appetite to be able to eat a 2 person portion hahahaha

Amazingly easy and delicious breakfast! Very comforting on a -30 degrees Celsius Sunday morning.
I've been doing this recipe for the last 2 years. My peach-coconut version is to die for!
Share the recipe please
Rene B the lady will most likely use Ella’s recipe (as this is a very old Ella recipe, around 5 years old) but change the fruits :)
I do use Ella's recipe. I replace the mashed bananas with apple sauce (about 3/4 cup) and the blueberries and raisins with chopped peaches and I add 1 cup dessicated coconut. Voila!
Marie Claude Allard that sounds lovely Marie! I will totally have to try that x

This was amazing!!! So delicious! The recipe fed 2 of us and a toddler.
Can you make a batch for a few days and re heat in a microwave each morning?
Jen Quinn that’s what I’m wondering too
Obviously you can! 😄
Thanks for the recipe, great idea. Going to give it a try....

Mouth-watering 🤤
Wow.. who would known this? Great idea!

Looks amazing!! Can you save the rest for another day?? Thanks Ella!!

I've never tried baked oatmeal but really looking forward to giving it a whirl, all of your recipes always turn out amazing so I'm sure this one is as well! xx
I made this yesterday, and I'm loving it! Trying hard to not eat it for all three meals.
New subscriber because I love you and your aesthetic
Are the measurements listed in the description box to serve one person? Or two or the whole dish that you have in the video? Thanks :) looks delicious!
Dorothy Brooke she made extra in the video, I would imagine the actual recipe would serve 1-2 people :)
👏🏼👏🏼 thank you!
Dorothy Brooke no problem!
Omg YUM. Can’t wait to make this for my next brunch!!
Delicious! What a perfect meal to have for breakfast :) Thank you so much for this recipe!

Looks absolutely amazing and will be trying this in the morning 😀 x
Banana and chocolate chips guys just saying
Yes, and peanut butter too.😋

Your videos are so relaxing I love it. 🌱💚
Hun, I had no idea you had a youtube channel and I've listened to your podcast for a couple of months now! Maybe you should mention it once in a while, because it's a gem!
What would you do with the extra oatmeal? Does it have to be eaten on the day so best to make only one serving at a time? Thank you. x
So delicious!!!!
Beautiful
Perfect for my lunch for work 👍😀💕
I’ve just made this for the first time using apple, mango and almonds... it is amazing 😋 thank you for the idea. I’m subscribed for life ❤️ xxx
very random question but where do you get your beautiful bowls & plates from? I'm in love!!
I think it's Nom Living that Gaz Oakley from avantgardevegan buys h is bowls from.
coconut yoghurt is so high in saturated fat but i bet it tastes like heaven!
What is 180C fan setting. I have a regular oven.
Ok so google says its 350f. :)
Yum fantastic
Looks very tasty 🌿🌱
please do apple, raisin, cinnamon baked oat bar
Great video😍👍❤
Hi, Ella! Looks great, but the amount of oats you used looks like a lot more than a 1/2 cup. Are you sure that’s correct? Thanks so much!
Just wanted to add that I made this recipe and it was delicious! The only change I made is that I added another ~1/2 cup of oats and it turned out perfectly. Thank you!
she made extra for the sole purpose of the video :)
If you cooked this lower and slower on a baking tray do you think it would turn into flapjack type biscuits?
Catfish no but I’m sure you could use one of Ella’s flapjack recipes and use these fruits instead, she has a flapjack recipe in her new book x
Can you use frozen blueberries?
Can you make these as muffins?
That's also my favourite oatmeal combo! 😀 Yum! 😋
Good sound, good recipe😍🙏🏻 thanks for video!
Yes! This looks amazing 😍 loved making baked oatmeal! So easy & so delicious!
Love this!
Btw - what kind of electric kettle do you use? Thank you!
Can you meal prep this?
How many days in the fridge?
That looks amazing!!! Definitely comfort food : )
How long do the oats keep for?
Love love love! How many does this recipe serve? Thanks! xo
Lydia Martin she made extra in the video but the original recipe will probably serve 1-2 people comfortably! :)
Very bad idea watching this at half past midnight 😍
Blubrries
Ltl bits
I love oats so much and I can’t wait to make this recipe for breakfast as soon as possible! Thank you! 😘
Hi :) Looks amazing. Would like to try it out, but just wondering if 50g of oats is right. Does anyone have an idea? Cheers.
I weighed out 50g of oats on my food scale and it is the amount thats in the video! So itll be 1/2 cup of oats if you use measuring cups:)
She made extra for the video, just follow the recipe and it should work :))
How long would it keep for?
Do you think it’s necessary to soak the oats first? Can’t they be softened while they bake (esp if you were to add more almond milk)? Just curious... ☺️
It's to make them expand and give them enough moisture. You can add liquid and bake but the bake time may vary
do the instructions in the caption serve 1? xx
Just confirming that was 1/2 cup oats? Seems like too little for that size baking dish.
Looks delicious!
Joelle Aittama as stated, she made extra for the video. The original recipe in the description will serve 1-2 people :)
i could listen to her say blueberries all day😩
Omg epic recipe!
Yummy x made before but I'm only one who eats it lol
is that recipe in your lastest book Ella?
2011ariesrules no, I have the book and I haven’t seen it in there x
Is there an error with the recipe? 1/2 cup oats? It looks like more is used in her recipe
I think Ella said she was making extra at the start of her video..I normally use 40g Oats when I make my normal bowl of Porridge so I think the recipe has definitely been adjusted for a smaller amount xx
she made extra for the video! :)
R a c h e l but she used the same amount of other ingredients in the video 🤔
I'd adjust the amount or quite often save half There's very rarely any recipes for us singletons 😁😂🤣I don't use as much maple or other sweet stuff either. I'd look like a barrage balloon!!! Xx
I've just made my own version of this. The written recipe does not specify jumbo oats. I made the recipe with regular oats. It was tasty but super flat, next time I will double the oatmeal. Can't get Jumbo oats here in the US.
Do I have to use banana? Can I sub it for something else?
try apple sauce angel x
Just found you and subscribed x
Steel cut oats or rolled oats?
añdn cui she said jumbo oats. That means rolled oats I guess :)
Katarina Blahut steel cut are jumbo i believe
Katarina Blahut rolled oats are too small :)
That can't be 50g of oats!
I'm making it now and I had to double the portions, 40g or oats is basically one portion so how can be that baking dish only 50g? :/ I'm confused :((
Noemi Vegan I know you’re right!
I’m assuming she adjusted the recipe to a smaller portion. She mentioned in the video, that she made a bit extra.
As stated in the video, she made extra purely for the video :)
I want!!! 😩🤤
