I've seen them 3 times and just before covid they had a 30 song set tour and I got to meet Page! Killer band
They were amazing live!! I seen helmet open for rage at a small club in st Louis mo!! Badass show!!!
Please do a video about Handsome
I grew up in a small place, our only rock station, only ever played big hits, so i was into all the mainstream Grunge, but these more indie groups never came on my radar. Thanks for another great recommend. I just listened to 'unsung' and wow.
Betty is one of my favourite records of all time.
Out of the scene back then, Helmet was the most tight, most ferocious... fully still holds up today played Very LOUD
Stanier is one of my favorite drummers
It’s a shame aftertaste didn’t do better. I’ve always been a fan of the original trio. I wish that band made another album or two. Cool video.
Great band can't understand why they aren't as big as tool also their jam with House of pain on judgement night soundtrack is legendary
Tool ain't that big lol almost same level of popularity
@@guilhermegarcia8750 they filling upreally big concert venues at least here in Europe recent Helmet tour was in small clubs not compalining like small gigs !
I remember the first listening to Helmet....i couldnt believe what was coming out of my speakers, it was almost music that i had dream off, straight up. In 1992 when most people were listening to Nirvana and PJ i always put on that Meantime album to watch their faces lol. In the meantime, iron head, give up, role model, unsung etc man what a great album. (Betty was awesome as well)
Betty was my 1st album by them and it was mindblowingly good.
I remember hearing Unsung in 95 and thinking these guys could kick anyone’s ass….and instantly became a fan!
Helmet was a huge influence on me. I loved them a lot, especially the Meantime album.
Lucky to have seen them back when I was 15.. Badass show is an understatement and chevelle who were the headliners didn't put on half type show helmet did.. Great memories
Saw these guys on tour with Ministry back in 1991. It remains one of the most epic shows of my life. Sepultura were also on the bill, but they weren’t my cup of tea.
Holy shit, ministry heltmet and sepultura in 1991?? What a show.
@@fungus_am0nguz644 Found my ticket stub because my memory is foggy. I was off by a year. It was Wed, December 23 1992 @ Bill Graham Civic Center in San Francisco.
I saw that tour also but Al was so fucked up that night they played about 20 minutes
I saw Faith No More and Helmet in '92. Awesome show.
both on tour again together with front line assembly
My first exposure to Helmet was my buddy stole three albums from a local music store: STP-Purple, Beastie Boys-Ill Communication, and Helmet-Betty. He asked me which one I wanted. I chose Helmet because I thought the girl on the cover was cute lol. It turns out I made a good choice although those other two albums are both good in their own right. Thanks Helmet. Sorry about the album theft though...
I dunno about y'all, but I've always liked Aftertaste the best of their 90s albums. Weird that it's such a footnote.
I liked Helmet ...They had that 90s sound but were different from a lot of the 90s bands at the time ...
Aftertaste is an incredible album and doesn't get the respect it deserves.
That's one album I used to put in my car cd player and it would just play on repeat for weeks at a time. Not a single bad tune on that one, and Driving Nowhere was my own personal Covid lockdown theme song.
It's better than Meantime imo.
'Aftertaste' is definitely their best album lyrically. It's on par with 'Meantime' musically. Just brilliant.
Helmet rocked my socks as a teenager. Now I'm 40 and missing them.
It’s Amphetamine REPTILE Records. An extremely influential Label to be on back then
@FAT COUNTRY Among many others. You should try to find the documentary about the label as well as the guy who owned it. The Color of Noise.
I grew up on that label: check out the documentary “The Color of Noise” if you haven’t. It’s awesome and actually quite hilarious.
The coolest thing about Helmet circa 1992 is that they looked anything but cool. Oh, and Stanier is a monster. Enjoy his work in Battles.
These guys rock. Great driving music. John Stanier also played with Aussie band The Mark of Cain. Now these guys are badass. 2 really angry brothers from Adelaide plus JS. Mind you if I lived in Adelaide I'd be angry too. 🤘🤘😁
And tomahawk mike pattons old band
MoC are awesome, they used to rehearse at the same practice space my old band did. Stood out a lot considering most of the other bands practicing there were shitty cover bands.
As a TMOC fan it made the most sense and was a bit of a fantasy that Stanier would join their bad - and then he did! It was better than expected and the albums he is on are a MUST listen for Helmet fans. The music is crushing and in the same ball park.
