I just bought a 2021 Veloster N and let me tell u it’s perfect car for a single dad with. 4 year old son. When he’s with me it’s normal mode and tame and he has his own rear door. When I’m alone in N mode all day and the car is incredibly engaging to drive I’ve already taken it out to the tail of the dragon! I love my Veloster N

Very interesting race. For those who don't know, FWD's weakness is acceleration from a stop but tend to be faster at a roll due to a more efficient drive train. AWD is best for accelerating from a stop but tend to lose power at speeds due to the drive train and added weight. That was clearly proven in this video.

This actually kinda makes sense because the STI is 4K more than the veloster N and the JB4 costs around 600 bucks so it puts it a little closer to a dollar for dollar comparison. If they put a stuffed turbo in the veloster N it might actually be extremely close in terms of price, although you start to have to actually tune the car at that point so it might be a 1k difference.

    The veloster N is a 276 hp 260 ft lb 2.0T.
The Subaru STI is a 310 hp 290 ft lb 2.5T.
The awd and slight power advantage goes to the subaru but it is heavier. Thats why with a stage 1 tune the veloster N makes 335 hp 320 ft lbs and you can clearly see the 250 pounds and the 25 hp let the veloster walk the sti. There are tunes out now for the Veloster N that give you around 345 hp 330 ft lbs with no bolt ons. I have seen 5.0 seconds with the manual stock with an upgraded set of tires. Now the newer cars also have the DCTs as an option, come with sport cup tires, and have NGS overboost that gives you 10 hp and 15 ft lbs of torque for 20 seconds. 286 hp and 298 ft lbs of torque when you press it. Otherwise you have 276 hp and 289 ft lbs. The sonata N with 290 hp with the 8 DCT and upgraded tires are pulling off 4.8 second 0-60s so there is no reason why the veloster wont be in the mid 4 second range with the automatic.

@@8SpeedNate I absolutely hate it. 4 doors and it would be a buy for me. 3doors and it's a deal breaker.

Hyundai made the determination that the Veloster N needed additional frame gussets and some stitch welding to lay square. Too flexible.

I have a brand new 2021 Hyundai Elantra which is very sporty and it's actually pretty quick in sport mode. I don't know about this N model. I've had Hyundais in the past break down on me from racing them the Hyundai Tiburon. I just feel like if you really drive a Hyundai too hard you're going to break it. So I drive my car and respect it and don't push it to the limit so it will be dependable
