Thank you for this video. I'm preserving flowers from my grandmother's funeral
I am too. So sorry for your loss ❤️
i am aswell, im sorry for your losses. do you have any tips? i have never preserved flowers before
I’m right here with you just lost my grandma
I'm so sorry for all of your losses! I honestly just used the silica flower drying beads. I dried some in the microwave in extremely short increments but also dried some in a bowl filled with the beads. If you use the microwave just be sure to only do like 20 seconds at a time because some flowers with less moisture burn
My heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear grandmother. May she rest in peace. I just lost a close friend. I'm preserving white and red carnations from his casket spray. It has just been 6 days since the funeral so, they are still fresh. I currently have them in a vase. I'm going to use the silicon gel method of preservation. Then after a week, I'm going to incase them in resin.
Wow! That silica gel process looks amazing! I am trying to learn how to do this to make a resin gift with funeral flowers for someone who lost their child at a young age from a very rare disease. I don't want to ruin her flowers so thank you so much for this super helpful video! 💕
I love this tutorial. Thank you. I just lost my friend and will be preserving carnations from his casket spray. This tutorial helps because, the carnations are red and I have a long stem white carnation. Your explanations on the deep vs. light color flowers is really helpful.
This was a great video!!! The only way I have ever preserved flowers, were by hanging them upside down, or freezing them. I wanted to preserve them with a more natural look, but wasn't sure what to use, or how to go about it. The other videos I came across were draggy, and all over the place. One person speaking about not having their nails done for the video, another wants to talk about their garden. If I wanted to hear about that, I would have searched it. (Ain't nobody got time for that) By the time they get to the point, or what I need to see and know, (which they didn't) I'd have to buy all new flowers, because the ones I were using, would be dead😂 Your video's audio and visual content was very knowledgeable, and exactly what I was looking for, Thank you! 🙃
Lol I watched the one with the girl and her nails. My god.. she just kept talking and talking about nonsense. I stopped watching it when her voice started to annoy me.
Thank you for the video! -- in addition -- Drying lavender in a warm dark place w/ airflow helps them retain their fragrance :))
Thanks for the great tips! I still have difficulty drying flowers, even using silica crystals. But this should help.
Hi, very helpful video!!
how does one stop the silica dried flowers from changing color after? My flowers are slowly turning brown from a beautiful purple
Is it necessary to have grind silica gel? Someone suggested me to leave flowers in a air tight box with seleca packets only?
Can you display silica dried flowers in frames & let them flatten a bit? Or will they eventually rot? Just curious because I want to make a dried frame not a resin work and my bouquet will mostly be white.
What brand silica beads are you using?
Trying to dry some flowers from my moms funeral before they die. She passed so unexpectedly. I don’t want to lose them.
Have you ever done a hibiscus or a plumeria? I can't seem to find nay info on these two flowers.
is there a specific silica gel to use?
I like the container you used for putting the flowers in the microwave. It's so neat. Where can we buy that?
If you just google microflure press it should come up
Haha I was just going to suggest you do a video like this! Thanks for the great videos. I enjoy your videos and like seeing things done by another Aussie too👍😊
Please tell me what I’m doing wrong with white roses. I used silica and completely dried them. Used a slow curing resin with less heat not to burn them and they all come out transparent! They lose all their color and you can see right through them. Help please! Keep up the great videos!
Wow! That’s really cool! What hybrid are these roses?? @Todd Morton
This is awesome just what I needed as my flowers never work out

I have dried some flowers which were beautiful pink in colour when fresh and turned out to be a dirty purple / blue when dried with silica gel. Do you have any tips on preserving the bright pink colour?
use blue silica gel. if the moisture is too much, even the blue ones wont help u. another method is to heat the flowers in a dehydrator in low heat while putting thim in silica crystals.. but the petals will get wrinkly.
@@-_-ok9550 Thank you 😘
@@someonewithvision3138 if you really want to preserve flowers use paraffin clear wax. it lasts forever and color doesn't change. u can use herbarium oil or alcohol too but the color will change. people use glycerin or glycol instead of alcohol but its not so effective. actually ur best bet is dehydrate the shit out of the flowers in pressure chamber exactly like how they produce milk powder😂😂😂
@@-_-ok9550 Actually, I am doing resin crafts. I need to dry the flowers with their real shape and colour before casting in resin. Silica gel was the best method I found. It worked well for yellow flowers, but not for pink and red ones. Pink became purple and red became more darker/brown. Anyway, it's the nature that nothing lasts forever 😅
@@someonewithvision3138 oh for resin? im curious about what happens if u don't dry? will the flower rot inside the resin?? cause i saw real looking flowers casted with resin.... they did not look dried at all!!
Love the information and tips you shared!! Thank you!
The centres of my flowers always seem to go mouldy when I put it in resin, any tips how to stop this from happening. I tried keeping the flowers in silica for longer but then the petals get too dry and crumble
Sai Wintachai that is just because there is still moister in the flower. Only way to stop it is by making sure the flower is fully dry. You could open up the flower more so the silica can get inside
Hi, I was wondering if you have ever dried lily and put them in resin? I've been asked to make a custom piece but I've never dried a lily before
Not yet!
CAN YOU PUT UP THE SILICA GEL LINK WHICH YOU USE . IT WOULD BE REALLY HELPFUL.
Do you have to dry/preserve “strawflowers” and Australia native flowers/plants as well this way. TIA
I tried drying mine, it was fine but then I put them in an open container in my bedroom and they’ve gone a bit mouldy? Can anyone advice me on how to stop flowers from moulding? Also, I’ve just tried silica gel. Will they rot too?
How long did you leave your flowers in silica sand? Your videos are amazing! 💙
Eunice Abigail Pomaris depends on the flowers but 1week to 2 weeks normally
I've heard of water with sugar and putting in refrigerator, but never drying them. I don't think they'll look very nice tomorrow. I'll skip.
Thank you for sharing this. It helps a lot 💕
Hi sheri.
Can you still resin the flowers if there are bits still stuck between the petals? I.e roses?
hi wanna know what best works for sunflowers 🥺🥺
Hi Sheri ! What silica do you use as I have trouble finding it? Thanks.
Try a high grade kitty litter if u can't find silica. It's harder to get a hold of in some countries
Rhiannon Popovic good idea. It’s a struggle as I live in a country town. Thanks! Do you know if it still works with the little balls from the ones you put in the cupboard?
Hi
I tried drying my flowers in silica and they did perfectly. I wanted to cast them in resin so i needed more flowers which took time. So i kept them in a plastic container for a month. But when I opened it they all got mouldy and got fungus sort of a thing. What did i do wrong and why did that happen.
Hi Sahrish.
What flowers did you use? Some take longer to dried out in silica. Perhaps the silica did not remove the water content of the flowers fully. Therefore, when you put them back in a closed container you provided a wet environment for mold and fungus to grow. To ensure perfect preservation of your flowers in silica leave your flowers in it for no less than one week. That was my experience. Hope it helps! :)
How do you store them after you dry them? Do you have to seal it with anything?
Jasmine Cobb so I dry them for resin projects so I normally use them straight away. But you would need to store them in a dry cool place
sheri vegas thank you!
Excellent. Very helpful, thank you.
Thank you for the awesome video! I’ve learned from you
How long do you leave it in the oven
Until the beads change colour it will depend on how strong your oven is
非常感谢你这个超级有用的视频!!
Thank you for your help! I’m making a resin necklace with a small pink/red rose 🌹 in it for my 6 year anniversary❤️….. needless to say the first one rotted 😂😅
Thank you
Could I dry the flowers in rice instead of silica gel?
Nope sorry
1:1 cornmeal to borax (laundry detergent booster)
Is silica gel reuseable?
yes it is. Just place it in the oven on a very low heat until they dry back out
Thanks - I recently discovered that putting flowers out makes me look like I got my sh$& together, and make a nice sad story, or a happy, inspirational one. Flowers in general are remarkable psychological tools capable of immense emotional manipulation of yourself and others. The colors can can even make the anorexic hungry and difficult significant others completely amenable to subconscious suggestion. Thank you again for enabling the craft of mental triggering!
Who hurt you bro
Idiots. Mainly the ones who say Bro. Typically younger and completely lacking a sense of true integrity - often so passive aggressive as to be lazy in how obviously their comments are those of a concern troll
The flower silica I bought left tiny dents all over my petals :( I can’t find the super fine silica.
Great Video :-)
Debbie Filsinger thank you 😊
Me watching this video to be able to send them to her on her birthday😅😳
Does anyone know how I package them up, so they dont get damaged?
💐♥️💐
Is this method work in soap gel ?
I don’t work with soap making so I can’t say
Thank you
thank you
