I have watched approximately 85726262942 videos about this and this is the first one that discusses WHY to pour a little at a time and how to prevent extra bubbles and flower bleaching. I've never done this before and wasn't planning on doing it myself. My dad passed away 10 days ago and the funeral service was a week ago. I want to preserve the flowers and none of the 14 florists in town do that service anymore. The closest place in my state is a 7hr drive grom me and tskes 2 days to ship things to. I was afraid they'd crumble and be destroyed on the way there. So here I am trying this myself. Probably better this way anyway because my dad loved my creative side and encouraged me to create all the time.
Great Video. I recently discovered a trick to reduce flowers turning translucent. I’ve found that some varieties are just more likely to have this happen than others. Hibiscus, white dogwoods (amazingly not pink ones) and day lilies are all prone to going translucent. Spray the dried flowers, front and back, with spray sealant and let that dry first. Treat them like you would paper items going in.
Another tip for preventing bubbles coming from the flowers. For ones like sunflowers, with dense large centers, soak them first with resin. Let that resin cure, THEN place them in your resin project. I also use UV resin to set and strengthen fragile flowers by treating them with a quick set UV resin then placing them in the arrangement. Use a good quality UV resin so it doesn’t yellow, or only place the resin where it won’t be seen if it does yellow but the surrounding resin stays clear.
Have fun and thanks for your videos!
Any advice on what kind of spray sealant ???
I was going to use fresh sunflowers I have growing. Thank you for the tips.
What kind of sealant spray can be used?
It is so cool to see crafts I did years ago, coming back. Love them

Really helpful tips. Thanks!
Omg thank you so much for this info...I am really considering to take you online class because I would like to start doing things with resin 🥰
Great video. I'm a beginner. My father-in-law passed away 1 month ago and most of the flowers dried beautifully. I want to make jewelry with the petals and a little filler flowers, like baby's breath. I've made jewelry for years but I don't have any experience with flowers in resin. I've always worked with semi precious gemstones. Thank you for the tips. I will be using UV resin. I'm definitely going to test the flowers out first.
Tip 1 was the most important one for me thank you!
So many of my questions answered. Thank you so much!
Thank you for all these tips. I went over to your amazon store however theres so much to chose from. an you create a beginners list especially with the gel beads and which one exactly you use? thanks

I saw somewhere on Utube where they dried the silica on a paper plate in the microwave, much quicker and cheaper than an oven 🦆💕
Hi. Super video 🤗. Wish I had seen it earlier 😭
I bought some dried flowers from Amazon and they have bled color in the resin piece. Is there anyway to fix/rectify that?
Very informative.
Please make a video on

Should I wait a certain period of time after putting my flowers in the silica gel before I start putting them in resin?
Excited to find your channel. Skimming through I can tell there's a wealth of creative knowledge here!!! I've been getting so excited about ArtResin cause I was so drawn to try resin then so bummed to hear how dangerously toxic it can be. I looked up alternatives and ArtResin is one that stood out. Then you say it's one of your top two favorite resins so I'm even more excited. I have a very specific resin project idea I'm really wanting expert advice on. Are you available for advising? I haven't yet used resin at all. Just have started watching videos on it and it really speaks to me.
there are no resins out there that are non toxic even if their label says otherwise. always wear protective gear.
Excellent information!!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the tips
So informational, many thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing!!! Just starting to play around w/flowers & resin🥴not to good at it…yet🤷♀️
I have some turf from Parc de Princes in Paris that I want to put into resin. Does even the grass need to be dried like you mention in your first tip? How long do you let the first layer dry before you put another layer (tip 3)?
Hi there, Thank you for this tips. Regarding layers - how many minutes or hours should I let the initial layer of resin sit before pouring the next layer?. Thanks in advance
if it’s gonna be a day or two before i can get the silica drying beads should i keep the flowers fresh in water until then or set them out to dry on there own?
Can I use acrylic paint mixed in resin to paint certain spots on my air dried rose to make the color more vibrant then cast it in resin?
Thank you for this information.
I would like to ask how to work with a yellow rose that has dried out but the tips of the petals have turned brown. Do I trim the brown pieces off or can I cover them with a mica powder or a glitter before I put them in resin?
I don’t want to stuff the whole thing up as the flowers were from a bouquet from a friend’s mum’s funeral.
Thanking you in advance
Great video keen to try how long between pours when casting flowers please
Thank you! My friend gave me her bouquet her son bought her and she dried it hanging up and many of the petals fell off and most of not all shriveled up. I wanted to make her something special from this but not so sure I can.
This video is super helpful!
How long do I need to let a layer sit before I can pour another layer so the flowers don’t float to the top?
Greetings from mumbai, india. Thank you for such an informative video. Here we dont have much choice of epoxy resins so plan do cast a rose in a 15cm pyramid mold and make a lamp using a deep pour/slow cure resin. My question to you is, since i will have to pour several layers, is there any way one can avoid seeing the fine demarkation line between layers??? if i pour a layer over one that is semi set and sticky, will the new layer bond with the earlier one and eliminate any demarkation line???your expert advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
also if I want the resin to yellow in the sun on purpose what resin do you suggest
Is there anyway to coat a flower so it doesn’t get changed by the resin?
Great tutorial thank you
Also, thank you for making this video!
Thanks, so much for sharing. I kept looking out my window for the crows.
Very informative thank you.
These tips are gold, thank you so much!!!! Edit: This is irrelevant to the video but you look like a mix between Lana del Rey and Adele, just to let you know :D
I've never heard that before ☺️
Any Australian resin brand you would recommend?
this was so helpful!! thank you
Glad it was helpful!
i brought some dry roses but they are huge can u brake them up gentley just for the petals? and with a deap mold u cant see like i said the women body mold i brought bedt way to add flowers to that? and u said layer this is ment to be with casting that can be deap but u still say layers?
Thank you this was very helpful!
What are your thoughts on using an adhesive to hold the flowers down,l to avoid the resin bubbles? And if you would recommend, what kind of glue should be used?
I don't like to use glue just incase it doesn’t go well with the resin
Good advice and your beautiful 😀
Hello, how can I prevent demarcation lines from forming when I am casting multiple layers in my resin? Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for yoir videos! I've never used resin before but am looking for ways to preserve some flowers from my wedding bouquet. Was thinking to either dry press or use the silica gel and then casting in resin. I have white lilies which have the small powdery bulbs at the top and I'm not sure how they will come out (especially with the powdery bulbs which can stain the surface when they fall off) for this kind of project. Have you used white lilies before and what can you recommend? Thanks!
Yes you can! but white flowers are the hardest to preserve. I would go silica gel
Hi Sheri 🥰😊 I'm about to do 2 really important castings with flowers that were blooming on the days my grandchildren were born and only have Ecopoxy flowcast to use. One will be a pyramid and the other a hexagon mold. When you say layers, how many cms would you recommend? Also I can't seem to get all the silica powder out of the roses no matter how hard I try... will it affect the resin if there is some left within the flowers? Thank you so incredibly much if you get the chance to respond to this sweetheart, I know how busy you must be.
It was suggested to me to dry sunflowers with hairspray, what do you think?
Were those disposable measuring cups? I am curious about measuring cups and which material/product is best. Thanks!!
Hi Sheri, any way to glue a cured resin Sculpture to a glass 🥺
What is the best way to layer flower pedals in a small bird mold. If I layer them will it look layered? I’m new to this but want to preserve my moms funeral flowers. Thank you
What if the flowers are already dried? Should I still submerge them in the beads?
Would It be possible to cast a rose? It dried in a vase with its stem dipping in water for months and I'm trying to cast it as a gift to my partner...
Can you freeze flowers then put them in silica gel to dry them? Would you be able to put these flowers in resin?
What brand of silica beads do you use?
can put a resin art drying to direct sun light
When you re-dry the silicone gel beads in the oven, do you just do the coloured beads or the white silicone powder as well?
All of them. The colour beads are just there to let you know when they need to be redried out
Awesome advice! I have a 10yr old rose from my grandpa's funeral, its obviously dried and has started to crumble at the top, is there anyway to use it and it not go translucent? I want it to last forever.
Hair spray works great
Where do you get the moulds from?
Where is the link to your amazon store for these products? Thank you!
Thank you for the link provided for resin. However what do you mix with the resin- it is not in the link provided. Would appreciate if someone could tell me what I need to mix with crystal cast resin to make a clear cased resin block for my daughters bridal bouquet. I am new to this and would appreciate some places and brands that you use & recommend or links to purchase silicone moulds, the hot air gun for bubbles, sealant spray and all of the tools necessary. I have searched on line and am so confused ! Every bit of guidance is so so appreciated. Thank you in advance 🙏
Where do you get your mold?
and
Set of Seven Mini Inside Out Silicone Mould inside out molds
Hi, can we use fake flowers that we buy in craft stores or only real dried flowers? Very helpful tips, thanks
I am new to resin and I am trying to do fake sunflowers in a hexagonal bookend mold. All the flowers floated to the top 😢 Do you any suggestions on how to keep them in place?
What resin do you use and is it toxic?
the beads sound like a really great method, sadly i wonder how i could reuse them in a contry where ovens are not in households :(
Thank You🌺
Thank you for watching
Can I dry flowers upside down for a few weeks and them cast them in resin? They have a very dry texture and look.
shattered shapes link dont work
IS it okay to use artifical plants and pour resin in ? Will the colours sip out ?
It's okay 😊
When you use the silica (silican? silicone?) gel, beads (sorry, I am am absolute noob here) do you microwave them? Like, place the flowers in, pour over the beads, microwave them and then they're dry? Or do you just leave it for a certain period of time?
Just leave them for a few days to weeks until they are dry
Last tip is technically imprecise, even the one on discoloring. Sometimes it may happen because of interference patterns generated by light because the surface of many flowers resembles a diffraction grating. It's just like onions in olive oil, they become transparent with the varying temperature of the oil, because viscosity is temperature dependent in olive oil and tightly packed molecules behave differently that loosened particles when light strikes or passes through them, but the moment you lower the temperature, the onions reappear. 🙂
.....lol
There are a few different types of products on the make art website, which one do you use for preserving flowers?
Crystal cast
Thanks for the information. I'm going to be doing some test runs today. One topic that I can't seem to find an answer to is what do you do about air pockets within the bloom . Like inserting a tulip upside down resin. How do you release the air captured when inserting the blossom.
Did you ever figure this one out?! I’m having the same issue and can’t seem to find an answer anywhere
@@kayleegreen5998 never got an answer on that. Follow your gut.
Pressure pot? just a guess
I made some bookmarkers with flowers in resin before watching your video (unfortunately). My flowers DID float to the top and made the surface very rough. Is there a way to fix this? Sand and apply more resin, etc?
You could always top coat your piece
An you used preserved flowers in resin please
whats the link to the exact page on amazon to the drying beads and sand you were talking about? i looked on your amazon page and couldn't find it
www.amazon.com/shop/sherivegas?listId=EYUGBKSEO3ZA
nice video
Hi. I'm just wondering if we can preserve Lily in resin? Thank you
Yes you can as long as they are dry
Have you ever used any of the spray flower sealer for dried flowers before putting them in resin to see if it helps to preserve the color?
I’ve tried but I didn’t find the ones I used made any difference
Try modge podge water it down a bit and use a brush to coat it and let dry and it is sealed. I also laminate my flowers
@@bevmutch4310 does it matter which modge podge? I have a bunch of leaves that I dried that I want to seal and was wondering if modge podge would work THX!
@@reneepannoni2070 I use gloss modge podge and water it down a bit.
I BROUGHT THE super skinny glossed goddess/female figure silicone mould from esty and that is deap and u have to use a cassting resion what would be the best way to stop bubbles and to pout the hole thing
For that definitely use a casting resin. There are 2 types of cast resin sallow pour and deep pour. I would try it both ways and see what you like best. I think if I was doing softer colours then I would do a few pour so I wouldn’t lose there colours
@@sherivegasartist thought all casting resin was deap pour now there are two diff ones?how would be best to get bubbles out if u do it in layers it will be to deap to see bubbles and to get them out.i just want to do 1 colour or glitter and flowers.but what would be the best way to get the flowers to work ect?
@@sherivegasartist if u get that mold love to see u do a vid on it
Have you ever done a rose bud?
