Great reaction. BMTH and BABYMETAL have been good friends for several years since they first met in the UK and have often spoken about wanting to collaborate. In 2019 BABYMETAL invited BMTH to tour with them in Japan and BMTH opened at 4 of BABYMETAL's big arena shows at the end of the year. This song was recorded in 2020, BABYMETAL originally sent their contributions entirely in English, but Oli Sykes of BMTH asked them to include some Japanese, which of course they did. It took them 3 years to finally get the chance to perform it live together and that happened 4 times at each of the four NEX_FEST events in Japan that BMTH organised. BABYMETAL had already played their own set and came back out to join BMTH on stage towards the end of their set for this song and you could see how just how much they were all enjoying performing together.
I'm going to see both on the same day on Nova Rock on 16th June, I VERY much hope that they perform the song together. God damn I would be one happy man.

Kingslayer was recorded for Bring Me The Horizon's 2020 EP "Post Human Survival Horror", but it had never been performed live with both BMTH and Babymetal on stage together until the recent festival event in Japan that BMTH hosted called NexFest, which took place in early November 2023. They performed in Kobe, Nagoya, and twice in Tokyo; this video was filmed at the Tokyo performances.
This was the first song I ever heard of Babymetal. I'm so glad that BMTH brought them to me. Now I'm a huge Babymetal fan. I would've lived to have been there. The energy of the bands and the attendees was amazing. Great collaboration.
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。They performed REAL (BMTH+BM on stage together) "Kingslayer" 4 times in Japan. I witnessed the 2nd REAL one in Nagoya on Nov.1. That was mesmerizing 😍 and I forgot to breathe during the performance. In an interview Momometal made an interesting comment like : (1) The theme of this choreo is "collision of souls" that has an image like we throw the power multiplied by the two bands at the audience. (2) We danced with our fullest power and rigid determination thinking "We do not care no matter what happens to us after the performance" I saw the girls literally do it. (BABYMETAL did this song after their own one-hour show in the festival curated by BMTH.) The one thing worried me was the statement at the end of this song in the final show in Tokyo on Nov.4. After joyful hugs with the girls, Oli said "We are never gonna play Kingslayer without them, ever again. Just not right." I know BABYMETAL and BMTH are going to appear in the same festivals this year in USA and Europe. I look forward to seeing them preform Kingslayer together again on those occasions. But BMTH should continue to perform this amazing and popular song even in a virtual mode without BM being actually there. (using recorded part of BM instead) (ps. I found BMTH played the "virtual" Kingslayer in the concert in Bangkok, Thai on Nov. 7 after Japan. And in 2024 BMTH started to use 3 CG figures resembling the girls on the backdrop. That's good 👍)

The album this song is from was co-produced by Mick Gordon. He mainly write/produce video game music and it can really be heard here. It is insanely energetic! I'm about 100% sure he has listened to a LOT of The Prodigy in his life. This might as well have been produced by Liam Howlett! Makes me almost wish for aa Babymetal/The Prodigy collab.
Welcome back girl, it's been a while, hope to see you around with more BM songs. This was the best 2020 collab between this two great bands and we finally got this collab on the stage together after so much time waiting for it. BMTH performed at Southside Festival in Germany and Hellfest Festival, there's a nice proshot version but with only BabyMetal backing track vocals, luckily now we got this amazing clip showing them sharing the same stage at Makuhari Messe during a festival called "NEX_FEST" ending October and starting November last year, and they did it not only once but four times in a row, everyone went bonkers with these, you can also find fancams of each night showing some different interactions at the end between Oli and the girls, SuMetal thanked to BMTH in all of them, that's the only thing i can complain about this clip but it's cool anyway. BMTH couldn't have better collab on their latest album Post Human Survival Horror, there are some others really good songs there thou but this one is just on another level. My suggestions are: "Parasite Eve" and "Teardrops", also "Ludens" from Death Stranding OST videogame. This song was produced by Mick Gordon, the same behind videogames like Doom, Wolfenstein and Prey, so you can feel the vibes here. They're friends since 2015 when met each other at Kerrang Awards so the collab was almost naturally unavoidable. They even performed as a support band for BabyMetal and Oli praise the Fox God too (atheist, dame, zettai)🦊🤘 The drum&bass instrumental intro on this song is called "Itch For The Cure" which is clearly a tribute to Linkin Park song "Cure For The Itch", but the short animation and dialogue wasn't part of the album track, it's a reference to Metal Gear Solid videogame created by Hideo Kojima, they got another MGS tribute song called "Shadow Moses" and later in 2019 they were part of Death Stranding OST, another Hideo Kojima game. Also you can find a short documentary about the making of this song where Oli said interesting things about the method they worked with the BM team and giving multiple choice of doing this. I have to say that I looooove Babymetal's part in this - super catchy to go along with the super catchy music. And you're right about the energy here; I thoroughly encourage you to check out the fan cams of these concerts, as some of them relay the energy even better. Not to mention, you don't get the insanely manic camera work, thankfully. The only issue is Olli's vocals, which at times are like unto the impotent rage of a toddler having a meltdown. But I can push past that and really enjoy this track, and the very strong vibes between Olli and the girls.
So glad you got to catch this performance, the more times I hear it the more I love it. They are all so good, and just having so much fun with the performance as well.

Saw BMTH Live last Sunday ( sadly without Babymetal ) - but this song was still the high point of a frantic high energy gig . The amount of work and thought that goes into the graphics etc is insane and combined with great music makes them a must see band !

Yes, it was three years after this song had its real premiere, but that was the problem with Corona. The first time Su was to motivated. So she went out of breath. But then shevlearned don't pace to early. Let Moa and Momo do their job. But you first concentrate on singing. But Ollie wrote this song explicitly against Su. She balances his growls. Her voice can overcome and order this white noice below her
That came up unexpectedly. A fun fact Ariana Grande met Babymetal. On a radio interview, she quoted how she was blown away by their music. I am kind of new to Babymetal myself, so I will be following your further reactions of them. Very good so far. What else, if you really want to go wild, Arch Enemy - The Watcher. I knew about the collaboration since the show but I will tell you the intensity of the song and music. A very very awesome song and it was the most moving song they did. The singer already said they would never do that song without BABYMETAL again just the level is absolutely insane!!
The last time i listened to bmth was like 2003 to 2006, still prefered the old genre of post hardcore and metal where the new current fans arent familiar with, This is a nice collaboration with baby metal.

How about some very melodic power metal? A classic of the genre would be Helloween Keeper of the seven keys. Yes it s a long one, but the live version from the pumpkin united tour is great and showcases all singers they ever had. To me this is a piece of great teamwork and having fun at the same time which is crazy considering the band has been around since the early 80s. I'd love to see what you think of this musically. That song is from the 1980s and still timeless.
Would love love LOVE to see you react to a band called Sleep Token, they are metal, but with tons of synths, tons of slower tracks and lots of rnb elements, an amazing band, would love to see your analysis of their work.

I knew about the collaboration since the show but I will tell you the intensity of the song and music. A very very awesome song and it was the most moving song they did. The singer already said they would never do that song without BABYMETAL again just the level is absolutely insane!!

How about some very melodic power metal? A classic of the genre would be Helloween Keeper of the seven keys. Yes it s a long one, but the live version from the pumpkin united tour is great and showcases all singers they ever had. To me this is a piece of great teamwork and having fun at the same time which is crazy considering the band has been around since the early 80s. I'd love to see what you think of this musically. That song is from the 1980s and still timeless.
Those tickets must of been very expensive and probably well worth it and experience like this comes once in a lifetime
Would love love LOVE to see you react to a band called Sleep Token, they are metal, but with tons of synths, tons of slower tracks and lots of rnb elements, an amazing band, would love to see your analysis of their work.

There are lots of great live performances by Babymetal that showcase Sumetal's vocal abilities - look for any "piano ver." / "unfinished ver." of their songs, especially Akatski, Monochrome or Amore
