THE ART OF RESEARCH SUPERVISION: Things That Every Supervisor and Research Student Should Know.

This is an extensive and comprehensive discussion on matters related to supervision of research students. It is evident that some supervisors attract a lot of postgraduate students while others do not. A satisfied postgraduate student will develop a lifelong relationship with his/her supervisors. The words of mouth of a satisfied graduate will promote his/her supervisor globally and consequently create interest in more aspiring postgraduate students to approach the academic. It could be exactly the opposite if a research supervisor fails to carry out his roles and responsibilities with the expected norms and professionalism.
This presentation started with definition of supervision and fundamentals of research supervision and covers almost all areas of postgraduate supervision including roles and responsibilities of supervisors and students as well, skills and acumen required to be a good supervisor, the supervisor-supervisee relationship, the processes of writing and collaborations, types of supervision and many more.
I would like to thank the Islamic University Perlis for inviting and providing me the opportunity to share my experiences of supervision and sharing few useful Tips and Tricks of a good supervision.
