I'm glad you're back! I really appreciate this video. An idea I had while watching, someone suggested getting a glass jar or vase filled with water. Then take the areal roots putting them into the water. I tried it with a nonvarigated monster and the roots in water started to grow and push out secondary roots of their own.

Yes! I guess that’s technically air layering propagation… but in water???? So maybe it’s called water layering??? Haha 🤷🏻‍♂️ But yes I imagine the aerial roots would grow much quicker in the water versus the sphagnum moss that people usually use. 😊

@@SuchPlants exactly. If you should decide not to cut but just place in water it's a way for the areal roots to be contained and gain some additional water/nutrients.

Ron, watching this makes me want a Monstera Albo, too, but I am self battling if the $$$ price is worth it. My trick for fungus *pesty* gnats is I sprinkle powdered cinnamon to the top soil, and it always works. Cheers!

Have you tried adding extra perlite so the soil can dry a bit faster ?

Yes there is a mix of extra perlite, coco husk, and pumice so I know it’s chunky and airy.

There is a video on my channel of the 2 cuttings going into soil after air layering. The other two went straight into water.

Your Albos are stunning! My only advise is….you shouldn’t re-use the left over water because that’s how you could transfer the fungus knats to your other plants. personally I wouldn’t do that if your having a pest issue
