  • Hey guys! Welcome back to another Monstera Albo update! This time, I am combining 4 of my previous cuttings to make a bushy pot! I have always wanted a super lush Monstera Albo and now I am one step closer to achieving this dream! I am also deciding to do this because one of the pots developed soil mites (BIG EWW) and I needed to get rid of them before they turn into an infestation. Did you see the crazy amount of roots in one of the cuttings!?

    Wow! Beautiful!!!! I got so lucky and found an Aurea within a monstera deliciosa!!!! Yes you heard me correctly haha! So she is my new baby that i’m pampering to death 🤣🤣🤣 The plant has 4 leaves right now, the 4th (a half moon) was unfurling when I spotted her. And there’s a lot variegation. She’s beautiful! Good luck with yours……Stunning plant! I hope you do more videos on them

    Great effort you put in there! I m thinking of repotting my three monstera albo rooted cuttings into one pot and you gave me a pretty good idea of how to do that.

    The small plant with the half leaf variegation is growing slower than the other because half a green leaf = half the chlorophyll = half the energy to grow. Also, to encourage bigger roots water round the outskirts of the pot leaving the center dry, you'll have long roots in no time

    Exactly what I was looking for, but may I ask why you didn't use a pole made with soft loss? I have a bunch of those poles but the roots never grow through them so plastic fillable ones seems to work much nicer for me.

      It took a while, but I did it 🥳 I’d def recommend going for a rooted cutting if you can. Makes the acclimation so much easier.

    Yikes! My 1st thought was why didn’t you put all those in a bigger pot?! I don’t have an Alba yet, but I found a huge monstera deliciosa last year with so many plants and mature leaves! It was all crammed in a 10” pot and all beat up. I took it home an cut off all the beat up leaves an put it in a 16” pot! Only 1 year later, I just cut off 6 double leaf cuttings! I just love this plant and sharing it. I just wish the Alba was easily accessible at a lower price.
    Where are you and do you sell cuttings? Love your videos! 🤗

      For me, I find that this plant likes to be slightly rootbound. Also, having less soil allows me to gauge how fast the plant can use the moisture. It’s easier to add more water versus removing excess water.
      I’m located in Vegas. Not currently selling cuttings, but as my plants continue to grow, I know I will have cuttings to sell in the future! ☺️

    Hi. My albo is single stem, extremely healthy, but really tall. Its over 6ft. I want it to become bushy. By cutting the top off, would this encourage side growth? I could then propogate the top? Thanks

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 месяца назад

      After cutting the top, it will push out growth from any one of the lower nodes, but it is generally rare to have more than one growth point from a single stem. Consider yourself extra lucky if it does happen! 😊

  • @brittanydespi

    I also had soil mites on my albo during the dead of winter but i didnt want to risk repotting during that time so i tried diatomaceous earth with leaning more towards the dryer side. It took a while but they died out, dont get me wrong I'm extra cautious and checking all the time. But it was my first time using DE and it worked out alot better than i thought.

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад

      I’m hesitant about using DE because it only works if it’s dry, and it becomes useless once you water the plant until it’s dry again. But I may give it a try one of these days! 😄

    What is the black net looking stuff that you used to make the sphagnum moss pole?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  Год назад

      That’s actually how the pole came when I bought it, already wrapped in the black net. You can find something similar on Amazon if you search “garden netting”. Hope this helps! 😊

    What a stunning plant!! 😍 I just started my Albo journey with my one leaf lol. What lighting do you use for this plant?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад +1

      Ooo! Congrats! I am currently giving this plant natural light from my south-facing window. The window has blinds to help filter some light, but there's also a house and a tree outside that help to filter the afternoon sun. I have grow lights in the room, but the plant doesn't get much light from them.

    The new growth on my cutting is turning black. Did you ever have this issue? Should I do something or wait it out? =(

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  2 года назад

      Aww! Sometimes I get this issue on my other plant cuttings. Usually, the stem continues growing but the leaf continues to blacken and die, even though the plant continues to grow another new leaf. Try giving it the brightest indirect light that you can give, and make sure to change the water once a week. Keep it away from cold drafts. Wait it out and it should give you new growth.

    Wow looking good! Will the leaves become darker green?

    • @SuchPlants
      @SuchPlants  Год назад +1

      I think darker green leaves come from a well-fertilized and happy plant that gets enough light! ☺️
