Important notes: For regular SCTs (Not EdgeHDs) you would need to constantly keep the star in the centre of the field. Thankfully MetaGuide can do that for you! Another note: You can simply set the barlow lense value properly instead of changing the F-Ratio like I did. This point eluded me as the barlow was set to 0.7 which corresponded with the 0.7 reducer I was using.
Very interesting video. Thanks. Does MetaGuide control and move the mount to put the star in the center of the frame after each time you set the collimation knobs?
Very good instructional video (apart from the repetative music) -you've got a new subscriber. With SCT collimation, keep in mind that when one screw is adjusted (in or out) the other two need to be adjusted at the same time. You may know that Metaguider has a new version as of August 2024. Clear Skies!
Excellent, professional video. (Although would be improved without the music track.) MetaGuide looks to be another must-have, lovingly created tool. Gonna download and look at this for my new RC. Many thanks for the brief tutorial.
Very well done Ali. I have a CDK12.5 and look forward to trying metaguide. Is it fair to think that an Ha filter will help reduce seeing variations (vs UVIR filter) when using metaguide ?
As far as I know, MetaGuide only works on windows and there is no other tool like it out there. I would encourage you to suggest a MacOS version to Frank, metguide's developer. He is very responsive and helpful! Thanks for watching.
Great video but all I can focus on is that repetitive music, seriously mate you don't need it. It's like being in an elevator or being on hold just lose it altogether.

@@jesusnavasfernandez Sure, you can connect an ascom mount to it, calibrate the mount and you’re all set!
Great job, Ali! This seems to be the only clear video tutorial available for MetaGuide. Keep up the excellent work!

Great video, clearly explained. Is this software tool only meant for SCTs? Can it be used on Newtonian reflectors?

@@mikeatkinson2360 you are not the first to comment to point out the music. Hopefully it becomes less noticeable in my more recent videos!!
Thanks for the tutorial do you notice a difference in pics between the easy and hard mode?

@@samberrada9647 I think maybe an Ha filter maybe too limiting? I would recommend a red filter if you don’t have a UV-IR, it works very well too 👍🏻
Interesting video might give it a try as I have just bought a 10" SCT that needs collimating, will this method work with the RASA 11 I wonder?
Very informative video, thank you, very well explained
I never heard of this software collimation method before but it looks very good.

Is this method more accurate than a tri bahtinov mask?
Can you use this method without any IR pass filter? And with color camera?
@@pigeond of course! The filter is only used to negate some of the negative effects of bad seeing.
Hi
I have a colour camera as well (Asi2600C); is it better to use UVIR filter or a narrowband (eg Ha).
Thanks
Sam
What about those of us on macOS? Is there comparable software we could use?

Great video, but what a PITA compared to refractors.

@AstraPharmaq8 The music is fine in my opinion. Perhaps reduce the volume a little. Great video, thanks.
