My name is Ali and I am an amateur astronomer!
It all started with a trip to the scientific center in my home country of Kuwait. I was 8 years old. I remember being mesmerized from the start when I saw those mini telescopes lined up in the gift store. A decade and some years later, I was back home after spending 12 years abroad. That's when I rediscovered my love for the sky. I spent weeks researching the hobby, quickly familiarizing myself with all things optical! Recalibrated my budgets and bought my second telescope. It was a 12 inch dobsonian that I can barely move, and I took it to the desert the following night. It was there that I captured my first astro-image of Saturn.
"There has to be a better way to do this," I told myself.
At around 6am that very same morning, I placed an order for my first ZWO planetary camera and down the rabbit whole I was blissfully lost.

Esatto 2 Inch and the Arco rotator for astrophotography (Full Review)
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.8 месяцев назад
Focusers are integral to astrophotography for their ability to finely adjust the focus of telescopes or camera lenses. Their precision ensures sharp, clear images of celestial objects, even those faint or distant. Focus can shift due to many factors such as temperature changes throughout the night, so a reliable device that aids in refocusing automatically and precisely is crucial. Additionally...

ugh more cheap chinese stuff... oh wait, where does ZWO come from? if it works, it works : )
Thank you so much for the review. I got one from another vendor on AliExpress after watching your review. I was trying to do polar alignment with rhis, but the Azimuth knobs don't turn the mount when rotated. Can you please suggest a way around this?
Ok so, I recently purchased -SW EQ8-R MOUNT -SW Esprit 150ed refractor Once i pay this off. Im thinking my next investment (in the best usful order) would be : - polemaster -DewHeater -camera -auto focuser -filter wheel -eagle controler Im woundering if controler should be closer to the top of the list?🤔 Any thoughts or advice Thanks...Joel
hi it's a good review can I ask you where to get the APP to make astrostation toup link work.
Just received mine today! Question… the bolts that go into the top of the mount into the pier extension, do you just tighten them finger tight?
There is another, even better alternative, albeit a bit more expensive, and it is for Windows, it is called RB Gaius2, a Spanish manufacturer, a spectacular system.
@@Villarreal863 Thank you so much for leaving this comment!! I’m always on the lookout for new stuff like this!!
Thank you for your video. Much appreciated! I just started doing EAA using a very budget friendly 150 mm goto dob. So it has an Alt-Az mount. Thing is, I find controlling everything using an old laptop which runs Sharpcap, Ascom, Synscan and Stellarium a bit of a pain. It is not stable. Very frustrating. Also: laptop all dewed over: not fun. So I am looking for stable alternatives. If I am informed correctly, an AsiAir cannot control Alt_Az mounts. So that is not an option. But, apparently this Stellarmate can. So... If this neat little box can perform live stacking, control my simple Alt-Az mount and can be controlled using a smartphone... That would be great!
Will it work with the Gemini eaf?
Great pics. Greetings from New Zealand.
Thank you, you guys have truly dark skies down under and some targets we can only dream off !!
117f at night in Kuwait?
@@knight2255 Yes!! It’s brutal here in the summer 💔
How do you polar align a mount like this? There's clearly no polar scope or camera, so do you use a software routine with the main imaging camera?
@@BruceElliott Yes, that’s basically the only way to do it accurately. You can also opt for a polar camera like the Ipolar or something similar!
@@AstraPharmaq8 - Thanks for the reply! I was really wondering how you'd attach a polar camera. I don't see an obvious attachment point. I use an iPolar camera personally, but I think I should probably get used to doing polar alignment with my imaging camera, especially for those situations where I don't have a clear sight of Polaris.
Bravo! I enjoyed your articulate , intelligent review. :)
@@tomdaigon8707 Thank you Tom!! I appreciate the positive feedback!
Thanks for video. I'm thinking of switching to Stellarmate from ASI AIR. I hope they've made progress in all of those bugs over the last 7 months;)
What an excellent video--you are a great teacher and astrophotographer! Thank you!
@@FredMendes-h4d Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!!
Trying to set up my stellarmate pro and it is a pain. constantly drops the wifi connection, even though it is 2 feet away
Great video. ZWO is unhelpful as I can't justify throwing out my Atik camera to use their Air. This stellarmate looks better
Do you have any idea what the max frame rate would be for using video?
Really like your videos. You can tell you are very enthusiastic about astrophotography. I have 2 setups currently Askar FRA 300 Pro with ZWO ASI533MC, ZWO EAF, Orion 60mm guide scope, ASI178MM guide camera, ZWO AM5 mount, and ASIAir Plus controller. Rig #2 is Askar FRA 600 with ZWO ASI2600MC, ZWO EAF, ZWO 30mm guide scope, ASI120MM guide camera, ZWO AM5 mount (same one as previous, can't afford 2), and ASIAir Plus controller. I saw your video on the Juwei-17 and was thinking about picking it up but I am concerned because the manufacturer just discontinued it. Anyway, great work.
Were you able to update the astrostation? Mine came with firmware v1.0.20240419. When trying to update it says" Astrostation version is too low, Please upgrade to v.1.0.20240910", but when i trie to upgrade it finds an older version v1.0.20240509. that it atempt to install and fail every time. "upload failed". I have the android phone app version v1.0.18.20241213
The constant "Shutter" click between scenes ruined the video for me as it was so distracting I had to stop wtching.
Great setup guide!
Gonna ask again what repair did you make to the mount? please make a video on this if possible
Very interesting method, thanks for sharing! I was wondering, why do you need the MetaGuide, can't you just do the same with other guiding software, e.g. PHD2, it also zooms on the guiding star and indicates it's calculated middle point - at least I think it was the main reason you used the software at the first place. And I don't really get it, what a difference does the fiddling with the f-ratio and other parameters do, they don't change the image of the star, and that is the only measure of goodness in this method, you don't really care about numerical data, do you? Thanks again for sharing!
it's a lowercase s password for the wifi 😂 stellar@mate Now the other issues can be dealt with.
السلام عليكم اخي الاستاذ علي اذا ممكن شرح طريقة تحديث الجهاز تراه بط جبدي😅
Do you have the apk apps for android?
You show it connected to the sky watcher heq5 tripod not the ZWO ? I have the sky watcher tripod could you link the correct adapter for this exact setup ? Subscribed 👍🏻
Interesting option, but will still cost me €1700 with the TC40 tripod + EQ5 adapter plate, so getting pretty close to the Skywatcher Wave 100i with included tripod extension (another 100 euro).
mate, you saw the environmental tab right there, and the environmental sensor, and you didnt think it had environmental controls? (dew heaters) lol. It's literally right there in the software and description. it's pretty clear to me you rushed out the review without properly testing this device. Like you said, you took it out into the field without even testing it. What a shame that you not only did not include that, but gave the wrong information about it in the video. You should really correct this.
Hi Ali, nice video. Indepentently off any RUclips testing videos of that mount, I ordered the same hat you are using. Since I use now the Onstep for the very beginning (more than 10 years) I am sure, there is no risk. The system is open and can be enhance if the controller of the Juwei will get broken one day. I like the guiding video you showed and a looking forward for the next tests. Wish you good look for your channel and and looking forward for nice future videos! Well done!
Looks good, but QHY is working on an OPEN SOURCE alternative too (QUARCS), which I see as more promising. I just don't get why they did not partner up to develop it together. The hardware bit is nice, the software looks good, and more importantly, it is not tight Would have literally killed the ZWO asiair closed (in a semi-illegal way) environment.
Hey, in the video you show us some PHD2 logs. Mind if I ask if you're able to set guiding speed with this mount using ASIAIR, and ask to share your guiding logs from ASIAIR aswell? My experience with guiding using this mount was not so great and I'm trying to figure out why :(
I purchased the StellarMate license years ago, and while there have been consistent support and updates, working with the software has often required a lot of tinkering and frequent reinstallations. I really appreciate the open-source approach and all the features packed into the device. However, in the end, the ASIAIR allows me to spend my limited time enjoying my hobby rather than troubleshooting issues.
The real question is 1) how does the new juwei price compared to a used AM5 and 2) Is the price savings worth the much lower resale value as this mount is unknown
So, after some more testing, my powerbox is not working correctly (see my other comment) and I will send it back. Other issue is that it is not supported yet by SGP. Finally I will buy the Pegasus Advanced that is just about 50 € more expensive but works with both NINA and SGP and if I have an issue I will get propper support.
Thanks for sharing set up using Stallarmate. Do you know if the software works with the iOptron GEM28 mount, I couldn't see it on the drop down list during the video?
Hi, nice review I bought the Pro version and dicovered two issues: 1. DC Port 1 is always ON and can not be switched OFF. 2. Connecting my Camera (ASI 533MC Pro) to a USB-3 port of the PowerBox it is not visible neither by SGP not by NINA. Connecting the Camera directly to my PC it works. The rest focuser, guide camera etc. works just fine, do I need to configure somethin? Am I doing anything wrong? Or is the power switch just faulty? Did you have similar issues?
Very informative, I'm receiving mine tomorrow. Question though, watching you go through the initial setup I did not see you do anything with port assignments. Does that not have to done?
I can't get this thing to guide no matter what I throw at it. After few hours of trying I gave up and went to sleep. Will mostlikely go back to sw Eq6 pro. It's a shame because I wanted something lighter.
Great News for us all !! And great reporting. I'm pretty pleased with my ASIAir however, I have several NON-ZWO cams I would love to use without the use of my laptop. I'm praying that Touptek get this together soon.
Did that have Onstep written on the side?
@@ianjeffery3762 It did indeed 👍🏻
Hi! Now that you have had, this mount a while, does it still track and operate accurately? thanks -jim
Already have one, but how attach de mount to the am5 pier?. I saw you have a plate (silver) between mount and pier. Where can i buy it?, Thanks
Solved, i did no saw the pier adaptor.
Interesting video might give it a try as I have just bought a 10" SCT that needs collimating, will this method work with the RASA 11 I wonder?
Great video, clearly explained. Is this software tool only meant for SCTs? Can it be used on Newtonian reflectors?
Nice video, but your music is too loud.
