I made these for my young grandsons one evening and they were a huge hit! They had all been eaten and gone by the following morning! My mother used to make these for my sisters and I when we were little girls but she never frosted or decorated them. Making them look like adorable ice cream cones with the sprinkles and cherries on top really brought these cuties to the next level.. Thanks Catherine's Plates!!
We use to do that for our 🎉 kids birthdays back in the 70s! So much fun! I like the flavor you chose & then I would have to do some with white or yellow cake mix due to family member with allergy to chocolate!
These are so fun and imaginative. I'd use chocolate cake mix with a little mint extract added and then top them with fudge frosting. Nothing goes better with chocolate than more chocolate!
Hello from KY love you and your channel and your family ❤️.Girl what a clever idea.I will definitely make these for my great grand children.Thank you for sharing this recipe.
These were always popular at bake sales when I was a child. I started using melted butter and milk in my box cake mixes per your suggestion. It really does make a big difference.🙂
Hi Catherine!!! I liked this recipe. I have seen these but never tried them. I'm going to try a white cake mix when I try it. Sure does look mighty tasty... Yes that was fun...YUMS!!!... Nice Video!!!...🦋
@@cathypeeler1727 I have a suggestion (as I learned the hard way) To transport originally I put them in cupcake paper cups in a cupcake dish and then I took aluminum foil and sort of "weaved" it in an out to sort of protect them from falling over, but once I arrived at my destination it occurred to me what I should have done was to place a bit of frosting on the bottom of the cone and then put the cone cupcake into the paper cupcake liner to help "set it." I probably would still do the aluminum foil "weave" but I think the frosting set on the bottom of the cupcake would have been helpful. Live and learn. ;-)
What a fun idea for a birthday Catherine! 😍 One of my favorites is a yellow butter cake with a chocolate fudge frosting!😋 But there are so many ways to make these and they're so easy to make! 😘 With the white frosting, you could use food coloring and make different colored frosting! This would be great for the 4th of July and create red and blue frosting. You can even add picks with the flag or other fun things! It will be so much fun to make these for so many occasions! Like making the frosting someone's favorite color!☺️ Since I do a lot of baking, my mind is going crazy just thinking of ideas to make them! 😚 Thanks for sharing another great recipe! 🥰
Love the party fun ideal to make a cake from boring to fun. Great for teaching kids to cook. Reminds me of a recipe from my first kids cookbook I got from Pillsbury years ago.
Hello Catherine,I made these when my kids were little..I used ready made vanilla frosting and topped them with sprinkles 😋 they loved them.thank you for bringing me back to a wonderful memory with my kids.your look adorable.hv a wonderful day family 😊💖😊😊

Good morning Catherine, what a wonderful idea 💡 definitely going to make this, definitely making the chocolate/ topping cherry and some coconut..have a wonderful day ❤
I made those a couple of times when my kids were younger. That's a cute idea Catherine! Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I loved using deviled food cake mix with milk chocolate icing and crushing up some Oreo cookies and sprinkle the crushed Oreos on top of the cupcake making it look like dirt and putting the gummy worms on top of the cupcake ice cream cones making them look like worms coming out of the dirt for the kids. We made them for their birthday parties a couple times. They are super hits at school parties too!
These are so cute! They would be fun to make with the kids or grandkids. You could set up a decorating station, chocolate chips, sprinkles, gum drops... whatever the kids like. Thanks for sharing this, Catherine!
I’m hosting my Grandson’s 2 years old birthday party on Saturday. I never baked a thing, so wish me luck. With you at my side (lap top) I can’t fail. Oh I’m making all the food I have learned from you too. Barbecue hamburgers, backed beans and potato salad. Thanks Catherine!
I made these as a dessert for our Historical Society summer party and they were a hit! I bought an icing “injector” and injected some of that amazing frosting down into the middle of the cone. Made them super moist and yummy! I am so happy I found your channel! I’ve made some of your other recipes and they are always a hit with my family. ❤
Could also replace the milk with heavy cream when making your frostings... I am definitely going to add this to my kiddos cooking lesson for our homeschool.. Its easy for him to understand and fun!! Thank you for sharing..❤😊
I have seen these, my whole life, but never made them. Was just thinking. Since people like different flavors, could get a plain white mix, and icing, and add different flavor extracts, and food coloring, to please everyone! ❤
Crazy fun & fast dessert!!! Dark Chocolate Fudge would be my choice, too. The choices are endless😍 Cream Cheese Frosting topped with mini chips would be good😁 Thomas is so helpful🙏 Thanks guys!!!!
This was my moms classic for school party treats when I was a child. It’s fun seeing this again.
The best mother anyone ever had. Hands down. I love you mom
I have a few kids ...and grownups that will surely enjoy these!
Looks perfect for kids birthday parties! Love watching you! I've made many of your recipes 😋
I loved these when I was a kid. I think I made them once when my kids were little. Now I really want one!
My mom made these when i was a kid. She brought a batch of them into my school classroom one year for my birthday.

I know what I'm making this weekend!!! The kids at church would love these!!!!
We use to do that for our 🎉 kids birthdays back in the 70s! So much fun! I like the flavor you chose & then I would have to do some with white or yellow cake mix due to family member with allergy to chocolate!

I have made these before and they are consumed quickly! My question - how do you transport these with them not falling over?
@@cathypeeler1727 That a great question for sure.
Very good question.
