  • Delicious Dulce de Leche cupcakes in a ice cream cone.
The recipe ingredients and instructions makes 18 cupcakes
    Recipe ingredients:
    Dulce de Leche
    - 1 300 mL tin sweetened condensed milk
    - 1 cup whipping cream
    - 3 Tbsp brown sugar
    Cupcakes
    - 18 flat-bottom ice cream cones
    - ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
    - 1 cup packed light brown sugar
    - 3 large eggs, at room temperature
    - 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour
    - 1 tsp baking powder
    - ¼ tsp salt
    - ½ cup 2% milk, at room temperature
    - 1 tsp vanilla extract
    Frosting
    - ½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
    - ¼ cup dulce de leche
    - 2 cup icing sugar, sifted
    - 1 tsp vanilla extract
    - ¼ tsp salt
dulce de leche or melted chocolate, for drizzling
    Baking directions:
    Dulce de Leche
    1. For the dulce de leche, pour the condensed milk, whipping cream and brown sugar into a heavy-bottomed sauce pot and, whisking or stirring constantly cook over medium heat until thick and caramelized, about 15 minutes (you may have to adjust the heat, and the mixture will get quite thick). Cool and then chill until ready to use.
    Cupcakes
    1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Place the ice cream cones into mini muffin tins (this will hold them in place while filling and baking).
    2. Beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl, sift the flour, baking powder and salt. Measure the milk and stir the vanilla into it. Add the flour alternately with the milk, starting and ending with the flour and beating well after each addition.
    3. Drop a tablespoonful of dulce de leche into the bottom of each ice cream cone. Use an ice cream scoop to scoop batter into each cone (just let the batter be - it will sink into place on its own). Bake the cupcakes for 25 to 30 minutes, until a tester inserted in the centre of the cupcakes comes out clean. Cool completely before icing.
    Frosting
    1. For the frosting, beat the butter with the dulce de leche until smooth. Add the icing sugar, vanilla and salt and beat until well blended. Fill a piping bag fitted with a large plain tip and pipe swirls on top o each cupcake. Drizzle remaining dulce de leche or melted chocolate on top. Chill until ready to serve.
    2. The cupcakes are best served the day they are made.
    3. *Alternatively, you can make these cupcakes using a prepared dulce de leche, typically found in the grocery where dessert sauces are located.

Not every recipe is the same. Take cake recipes, for example. And for those saying that condensed milk is not the right way to make dulce de leche, let me remind you that condensed milk is nothing but milk and sugar cooked for half the time. So yes, Anna used a smart, richer shortcut.

This recipe look delicious and so fun to make, just one thing to have in mind is that the Dulce de leche for example from Colombia is way darker and dense! we just use milk and sugar. I wonder if this recipe tastes the same, because of course is easier the way she showed us!!!

that's not Dulce de leche... dulche de leche is either cooked condensed milk (fastest way to go) or milk and sugar, stirred for up to 7 hours. and no cream.

Bee i think cream is basically milk with more fat right? Sooo just a richer dulce de leche?
i would love to hear your opinion back :D

Actually dulce de leche is made with whole milk and sugar and some other ingredients that are cooked for several minutes until it is caramelized. This one made with condensed milk is known as "manjar" NOT dulce de leche

      @hk4672 7 лет назад +1

If you cook milk with sugar it will eventually turn into condensed milk. Condesed milk is just one step before dulce de leche.

Hi would I be able to use Carnation Caramel instead of making own dulce de deche? Would the cupcone hold sauce and would a pointed ice cream hold it also?
What would be the consistency when to bite into the sauce bit?

I would say is easier to buy dulce de leche, nowadays you can buy it worldwide, and I would use the "pastry" dulce de leche for this recipe

Yes, I will say it. It sucked. The cones cracked and leaked . The taste was the worst. She just seemed to make a big deal out of a fancy name for a recipe. Done watching her. She didn't even taste hers. So she must know the recipe sucks. secrets told behind the camera, I suppose.

Argentinian people who will immediately claim dulce de leche as theirs may find this less traditional, but it has also said that Russian people had something very similar. Anyway I am pleassed Anna used it insted of caramel. Chefs always have their own version.

As much as I love Anna Olson and her recipes, I must say that what she made is not dulce de leche... not in taste, color nor consistency. First, it's too thin, second, it's too blond, and finally, dulce the leche is always made with white sugar; american style brown sugar (very different than turbinado sugar, which would be more like our brown sugar) has molasses added to it, and it gives this confection a completly different taste than the real thing. A better substitute would have been to cook the plain condensed milk further over very low heat, or to boil the unopened can in a pot, just covered with plain water (and making sure the can is always submerged, otherwhise it can explode). Any of these procedures would've taken longer -almost a couple hours for the "boiled can" method- but the taste of the final product would've been more similar to true dulce de leche.

Maybe she slightly undercooked the DulceDe leche bcoz of.the baking that takes place. So it will continue cooking (caramelising). Well i am assuming only. Not an expert here.
