    Just a perfect presentation for me today. I was just out taking dandelions out of my flower beds and commented to my sister, "I wonder how many different dandelions there are because I was seeing different leaves." Thank you

    There is wide variation in the leaves on individual dandelion plants. How fascinating to learn that an individual plant can be different kinds of itself.

    There's a whole scientific field devoted just to studying the difference in dandelions leaf shapes. I think all of your dandelions are actually varieties of the common dandelion Taraxacum officinale. I also film and take pictures of the different leaves. I was happy when the one with the red vein appeared in my yard.

    A friend did a dandelion survey in his garden over the lockdown and he has found at least 3 in his from garden that are Vice County 57 1st records and one that is 6th record for the UK - a much under valued and under checked species! Thank you for this video :) Link to Dandelionos of GB and Ireland www.pemberleybooks.com/product/dandelions-of-great-britain-and-ireland/5595/

    Thanks for this! I've had a couple different types of leaves sprout up that looked just different enough that I was questioning. Without the flowers around, it's hard to identify, since the leaves can look so different.

    I'm glad to have found this video. There is a weed in my yard...which I've thought forever is a dandelion, but looking it up today and comparing the leaves, it doesn't fit any of the official descriptions. Mine is like your first example there. The leaves are not lobed at all. Otherwise it fits the description!

    do they all have the same health benefits ? I’d imagine so meaning all good for health

    • @SuzannaCramptonIreland
      @SuzannaCramptonIreland  Год назад +2

      Yes I’m sure they do. Kind of like different varieties of tomatoes. They all might look and taste different but are similar in whatever vitamins and minerals they supply to your biological system.

      Young leaves are much better to eat, they’re a little tart which if you’re not used to it you won’t like.

      They’re all dandelions. There are over 240 different dandelions within the dandelion family. Just like there are many different kinds of daffodils or snowdrops or daisies.
