Can we save any of it? Is it worth cutting?

- We had a customer bring this log in wanting to see what we could salvage from this oak. Being that I have never cut a lightning struck tree I was very anxious to put it on the mill. NOW WE KNOW.

Never gets old -- TK sawyers helping special logs offer up special lumber where others would have seen only firewood...
Love a chestnut oak, a subspecies of white oak.
Awesome job sir. I did a Southern yellow pine that got hit by lightning. It was a lot of fun to do and a lot of work.
Yes. Was excited to open that log up and see what was in store. I believe he had something to work with.
Nice video showing what it's like working with lightening struck trees. Sometimes you don't get as lucky as you did. I sawed a red oak thay had been struck and it was a waste of time. Most of it ended up in the wood burning boiler.
There was surely some damage, but you never know until you open it. At least you got a little use out of it.
Hey buddy great video, I am glad you did this video.
What bands do you like??
The ones I’m running now are South East Metal’s “Kasco”. I also like the Kennesaw “mumford” blade. Very competitive on the prices and both are excellent blades. I haven’t ran any other brands besides TK’s and they are too pricey.
firewood ?
Most of it. Can cut some small project pieces from it.
That's one ugly log... You might make some short boards to make charcuterie.. Too many fractures.
Yes in deed. It’s cracked up pretty good. The client wanted it cut to see what he could salvage. I’m sure he will make some small projects and have a nice fire with the rest lol
