      Paul O’Rely is O'Rely a Brazilian surname? It sounds more English/Irish to me.

    • @paulorely
      @paulorely 7 лет назад +17

      Actually this is a funny story... My grandpa's best friend was Irish and had the surname O'Rely. He named my dad O'Rely as a tribute to his friend. And my dad gave me his name as one of my surnames :)

    I am Brazilian and I have been living in Poland for almost 2 years. I really enjoy your channel and I was surprised by this interview with my compatriot. It's good to see that I am not the only Brazilian who fell in love with Poland since the first contact. However, it is true that we all make a great effort to learn the language. I believe it is just a matter of time. Thanks for posting this video. Super!

      when I hear Portuguese spoken from a distance it sounds just like Polish, lots of sh, zh sounds and similar intonation. So the pronunciation should be easy for you, now only the words and the grammar to learn :)
      Enjoy Poland! Best of luck :)

    • @johnnybowes
      @johnnybowes 7 лет назад +2

      Moim zdaniem to nie jest paradoks Michal, ale cos glebszego. Trzeba zrozumiec dlaczego Polacy wyjechali. Trzeba wytknac bledy niewykwalifikowanym ludziom (nie politykom - oni politykom do piet nie siegaja), ktorzy bazujac na przeszlosci mysla, ze tak zjebanie zawsze bedzie. My tez mozemy ich zamknac i postawic na naszym. Pozdrawiam! Nie przestawaj. Ja jestem z 82.

    • @Micha-xw3os
      @Micha-xw3os 7 лет назад +5

      John Bowes, w przypadku akurat Brazylijczyka, Polska może być na swój sposób rajem, oazą. Jesteśmy najbezpieczniejszym krajem w Europie, głównie przez naszą jednorodność, czego o Brazylii powiedziec się nie da.

    • @Micha-xw3os
      @Micha-xw3os 7 лет назад +3

      Kiedyś psioczyłem na naszą sytuację i winę zwalałem na starsze pokolenie, pamiętające zupełnie inne czasy. Ale trzeba na to trzeźwo spojrzeć- jesteśmy średniej wielkości krajem w centrum Europy, pomiędzy młotem a kowadłem. Musimy mieć silnego przyjaciela, w tym wypadku są to Stany. I widać różnicę w krajach, gdzie USA pomagało i inwestowało swój kapitał, a krajach byłego Związku Radzieckiego. Niestety, boję się, że przez durną politykę naszego państwa, Ci mądrzejsi, pragnący czegoś więcej niż tylko jak "ru-rurkowce" żreć, uciekną I nie wrócą.

    • @kibicut5649
      @kibicut5649 7 лет назад +3

      Stany nigdy nie były i nie będą naszym przyjacielem,a psioczyć jest na co bo Polska obecnie to stan umysłu jeśli chodzi o zarobki bo większość polaków żyje od pierwszego do pierwszego,Polska miała szansę stać się bogatym państwem ale to już historia wojna i komuchy zniszczyli wszystko a potem pseudo demokracja i solidaruchy co rozprzedali majątki Polskie.

      He was saying about his personal experience. Maybe he lived in a dangerous neighborhood and couldn't stand the stress. What is norm in some Brazilian cities, is exceptionally rare in Poland (only if have really bad luck to be in some place and time).

    • @paulorely
      @paulorely 7 лет назад +5

      Dariusz B. I didn't move to Poland to escape violence. I just stated that because Ryan asked if Brazil is a worse place to live than Poland, and I think that violence is the worse thing you can have in a society. And the violence is just a fact, even the safest place in Brazil is more risky than the most dangerous place in Poland.

    • @paulorely
      @paulorely 7 лет назад +2

      Marian, wages in Poland are indeed lower, but the cost of life is also lower. With the average income of any position, you can afford much more things in Poland than in Brazil. And I'm only talking about things that money can buy ;)

    I wonder if Paul knows about the love of samba and bossa nova in Poland - the opposite of his fascination with Myslovitz. I presume he knows by now. During my days in Poland, Brazilian beats defined the sound of student folk and alternative music in the 1970s. To this day, I think, Brazil and its rhythms speak of seductive mysteries and exotic promises. Though I left Poland 35 years ago, I still feel samba in my veins.

    Just came across your channel, great stuff man!! I'm a Polish immigrant living in the US for the past 30 years, since childhood. I LOVE America, she gave us shelter and opportunity like very few places on earth could. My family has busted our butts since arriving many years ago, have never taken one cent from the system...as you probably now know it's in the Polish DNA to be self-reliant. So I feel I've earned the right to bitch about things that I don't like in this adopted home of mine. Simply put the US of past is NOT the US of today. It's been very difficult for someone like me who loves the US as much as I do ( I think more than the average native citizen ) to watch it's decline and devolution. It's a strange thing to watch, it brings tears to my eyes. So.... After spending all this time in the US ( most of my life as a matter of fact ) I've decided to relocate back to Poland and start a new adventure. The simple version of a reason is that as I get older I've become aware and weary of the American lifestyle. It's difficult to explain to those who have never experienced both but perhaps you'll know what I mean. There is simply a difference of how people in Poland approach life and those in the US. Generally, there being a higher emphasis placed on a better balance between work and actual life. There are of course many other reasons personal and in general but that one seems to stand out some. Anyway, keep up the good work. Cheers

    Zawsze zastanawiają mnie ludzie którzy są zdecydowani zmienić swoje obywatelstwo. Sam nigdy bym się na to nie zdecydował pomimo tego, że o Polsce nie mam najlepszego zdania. Bardzo ocieplacie wizerunek Polaków co napawa mnie dumą z mojego kraju i wygląda na to że czujecie się Polakami bardziej niż większość rodowitych Polaków.

      Marcin J Popowski Wiesz jeżeli człowiek interesuje się polityką to ma podstawy żeby mieć złe zdanie o swojej ojczyźnie. Byłem w kilku krajach trochę dużej i w tych innych krajach przykładowo Holandii czy Anglii ludzie wydają się bardziej szczęśliwi i życzliwi co w Polsce jest mało spotykane niestety przynajmniej w moim mieście.

      Bartek I'm sorry to inform you that it is not. We have around 12 milion unemployed workers, many of them are skilled and well educated. It's similar to the entire population of Czechia. This situation may not last forever, but we can't see it changing on a short term.

      Bartek I think that Chile is consistently growing and increasing its standards of living. Uruguay has always been relatively stable and safe to live. Argentina is overcoming a huge crisis and has a great future, if the political scenario allows it. Even Brazil is a possibility, but here there is a waaaay further road to get through. I am not able to speak for the rest of our neighbours as I am not updated about their conditions.

    In brazil you really don't feel part of the community... I wouldn't change my country because a band hahaha this was crazy...

      Marcos Antonio não nenhum... pra dizer a verdade em outros estados do brasil eu me sentia mais incomodado que aqui com o fato de por exemplo as pessoas se incomodarem com o fato de eu ser carioca, pq sei lá não sei qual era problema síndrome de que mais o assunto tinha que mudar pra como o rio é inseguro e tal pra dizer que o estado dele é melhor aqui quanto descobrem que sou brasileiro a reação é entusiasmo e curiosidade na maioria dos casos admiração o brasil é lembrado pelo tamanho enorme pelas praias e pessoas bonitas... quando existe alguém que entende um pouco de politica claro existem criticas ao brasil mais não que a pessoa critique o próprio país mesmo antes...
      Me arrisco a dizer que o único preconceito que você pode sofrer por ser brasileiro seria por parte de outros brasileiros... mais ainda sim uma minoria que são os famosos espertos praticantes do jeitinho brasileiro mais a grande maioria de brasileiros aqui é gente boa também

      aqui até tem gente que não gosto de russo, gente que não gosta de pessoas dos estados unidos, gente que não gosta de muçulmano (e com razão venhamos e convenhamos)... mais uma coisa é certa todo mundo gosta de brasileiro...

      Wayne McLaughlin+ winters in Poland are not so cold like e.g. 30 years ago and earlier any more. the climate is getting warmer also in Poland. UNFORTUNATELY. there is nothing better than frosty, snowy, sunny winter and hot, sunny summer. I hate the sea climate without real winters and real summers. a ROT.

    Smutna jest jedna rzecz ,że latami wpajano nam, że bycie Polakiem to jest coś gorszego ,Polacy nie znają własnej historii i własnej kultury i religii stąd narzekanie i brak uśmiechu bo myślą, że inni są lepsi i mają lepiej " trawa u sąsiada wydaje się bardziej zielona" powoli na szczęście prawda wychodzi na jaw i Polacy wychodzą z cienia i zaczynają być dumni ze swego narodu.

Ta różnorodność przyniosła Polsce chwałę i sukcesy ekonomiczne. Pamiętajmy o tym kiedy wychodzi z nas polski zjeb ksenofob.

    I do not understand why you find the admiration of the Brazilians for Poland very strange. It is estimated that there are between 1.5 and 1.8 million descendants of Poles in Brazil. It is the third largest population of Polish descent in the world, after the United States and Germany.

Some Brazilians say it is the worst country of the world based on their experiences on their hometown cities. Of course the crisis isn't helping and the leftists politics has broken the country's economy, but...

    This is the popular knowledge that Poland did not exist in XIX c. but it's not the truth. Being dominated and taken over by three powers the Kingdom of Poland with Russian Tsar as a Polish king existed between 1815 and 1917. Of course, we can't say that Poland was an independent country but from a legal point of view existed.
