    Thanks for making this video. We had a little mishap where the antenna met a mostly-open garage door. Yours was the only repair video I could find for this! I'll be trying out this procedure once I can get the parts.

      Same thing happened to me. Seems straight forward but access behind headliner might not be so easy.

      I had the same thing happen as the two of you,. Mine still works but is raised up off the roof by about 1/8". I was worried about it leaking. Hoping I can just tighten it up looking at this video.

      @@danielclark1975 Have not tried yet. Does not seem to be leaking so I left it alone for now.

    i'm wondering if the cover can be safely removed without having to drop the rear headliner. i'm simply thinking about changing the color of the shark fin antenna cover. thank you

      The Shark Fin Cover install is pushed into place. There are four clips inside the cover that hold it in place. If you don't plan on using the old cover again just use maybe a box cutter to cut the cover open and remove it. Otherwise you need to remove the complete antenna to access the area underneath the antenna using a screwdriver to pry off the cover.

    Good info!
    I have a missing shark fin cover on my 4Runner. I found the replacement part but I haven’t seen anywhere on how to “snap” the cover on the antenna. Was it just a pressure snap fit straight down? Thanks.

      Correct, it is a pressure snap fit straight down

    Did you use any kind of sealant under the base of the cover? Any issues of water getting in?

    • @fpc752
      @fpc752  2 года назад +1

      No sealant is required. There is a rubber seal already included and attached to the bottom of the antenna. By tightening the bolt mechanism, the antenna unit is securely attached to the roof. There are no water leaks. The plastic fin shaped antenna cover is for cosmetic purposes only. This cover does not require any special sealing.

    How did you get the old metal piece from the horizontal position back to vertical to remove it?

    • @fpc752
      @fpc752  4 года назад

      Unscrewing the bolt using the socket wrench from underneath the roof will release the antenna mechanism. Once the metal pin is in the Horizontal position it does not return to the Vertical position. You'll need a new pin to replace the antenna mechanism back on the roof.

    This video is pointless without showing us how you opened up the back portion to access it from underneath

    • @fpc752
      @fpc752  4 месяца назад

      Vehicles where the rear hatch / trunk open to the roof line have this easy access. Otherwise access is more difficult where the vehicle design is different. In that case the complete roof liner inside needs to be removed.

    Where to buy the part?

      The part can be bought from any Toyota dealer parts department. In 2019 the price was $300
